MINNEAPOLIS – The top six stars of Fight Club’s second season were set to show off their stuff in Minneapolis on what had been dubbed as Fight Club’s “Elimination Night” in tribute to the former company SLAM! Wrestling, as all six matches would take place inside the Elimination Chamber!
The show kicked off with the conclusion of the most heated feud of the last month in Fight Club, the war between Samoa Joe and Takeshi Morishima. Morishima would be returning to Japan after this match, and thus, it would be his final match here in Fight Club.
As expected, this was a hard-hitting brawl in which neither man would go down lightly.
The bout finally came to an end when both men climbed up on top of one of the chambers. Morishima knocked Joe off, but he amazingly caught himself and stood on the ropes. He punched Morishima in the knee, bringing him down closer to Joe’s height. Joe then grabbed Morishima and performed one of the most awe-inspiring moves ever seen in the Fight Club ring, as he pulled Morishima off the top of the chamber and dove back, planting him to the mat with a Muscle Buster. Joe rolled Morishima over and pinned him for the three count and the win. Samoa Joe finally reigns victorious over Takeshi Morishima!
After the match, Morishima had to be taken away on a stretcher. As a sign of respect, Samoa Joe stopped them in the entryway, and raised Morishima’s hand in the air.
With that, it was time for the World Heavyweight Championship match, pitting C.M. Punk against Homicide, Big Vis, and Claudio Castagnoli.
Homicide started out against Big Vis. Surprisingly, Homicide held strong against his much larger adversary, and eventually, tossed Big Vis head-first through the glass of Claudio’s chamber It wasn’t long after that that Claudio was released from his chamber and would suffer the same fate, as he got tossed head-first into C.M. Punk’s chamber!
Before Punk was even released from his cell, Homicide planted Big Vis to the mat with the Ace Cutter and pinned the bloody and battered behemoth for the first elimination. Not long after that, the champion entered the fray and eliminated Claudio Castagnoli from the match with the Anaconda Vice.
Finally, there were only two men left in the match: former partners C.M. Punk and Homicide. They waited as Claudio and Big Vis were removed from the ring. Finally, they battled it out with the most valuable prize in Fight Club on the line. After nearly 10 minutes of back-and-forth action, C.M. Punk was able to lift Homicide on his shoulders and plant him to the mat with the GTS. Punk hooked Homicide’s leg and pinned him for the three count and the victory.
With that, it appeared the night was over until everything went black in the arena. A video on the video screen started counting “1…. 2…. 3…. 4…. 5.” As soon as the count reached five, the entire entryway burst into flames with a huge explosion. C.M. Punk was blown back down to the mat, as the entire Fight Club complex was up in flames. Cameras cut out as Punk slowly sat up in the ring, surrounded by flames.
