Here it is... Week #3. I had to skip posting full results for Week #2 because I got super busy last week, with it being the end of the quarter in school and all. I will definitely get around to replying to some shows within the next few days, as I would like to catch up on the text fed board's happenings. Anywho... here's the show.
November 15th, 2006[/center]
A video package is shown, highlighting the X-Division Championship tournament from last week, won by Christopher Daniels. As the camera pans the arena, Dean Malenko and Paul Heyman welcome everyone to the show.
AUSTIN STARR & ELIX SKIPPER VS. X-DIVISION CHAMPION CHRISTOPHER DANIELS & RODERICK STRONG
The world was further introduced to "The Master of the Backbreaker," Roderick Strong, in this opening contest to NWA: Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling. He and the newly crowned X-Division Champion took it to Elix Skipper early in this match, not allowing him to tag in Austin Starr while making quick tags of their own. Eventually, Daniels got too confident and attempted the BME - Best Moonsault Ever, but Skipper had it scouted, moving out of the way and finally tagging in Starr. Starr fought off Daniels and Strong for a few minutes, but eventually all four men got involved in the match. Strong and Starr spilled to the outside, allowing Skipper to hit Daniels with a hurricanrana in the ring and roll him up for the pinfall victory over the X-Division champion! After the match, Daniels and Strong bicker between each other for a few moments, which ends with Daniels getting the upperhand. Strong then helps the champion out of the ring.
(match time: 12:33)
"THE HOMICIDAL, SUICIDAL, GENOCIDAL" SABU VS. HOMICIDE (NO DISQUALIFICATION)
This was the first we had seen of Sabu since he was brutally assaulted backstage on our debut pay-per-view by an unknown assailant. It didn't take long for this one to get ugly, with a chain, garbage cans, tables, and barbed wire coming in to play quickly. The two men battled throughout the arena, not leaving any section or possibly weapon alone. They finally returned to the six-sided ring with Sabu in firm control. He rolled Homicide into the ring, grabbed a steel chair, and climbed to the top rope. Before he could go any further than that, the same man who assaulted him on our first show jumped over the crowd barrier. Sabu turned around and dove to the outside, but the homeless-looking man caught him and dropped him throat-first across the crowd barrier. He then dropped Sabu head-first onto the seat of a set-up steel chair! As Sabu appeared to be unconscious, the man rolled him back into the ring. Homicide then rolled his arm over and pinned the "Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal" maniac to get what has to be considered an upset victory.
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper of the NWA Championship committee made his way down to the ring at this time. He explained that the new system to determine contenders for championships in NWA:TNA will place superstars into two divisions, much like the NFL or MLB. Those divisions, of course, will be the X-Division and the Heavyweight division. Superstars will not be stuck in a division forever, though once they are placed in a division, they must stay there for at least 3 months. There will be a tag team division, but it will not affect or be affected by the other two divisions. Divisional win/loss records and winning/losing streaks will affect a superstar's positioning in the rankings system. He says the system will begin on the first pay-per-view in December. He then announces that next week's pay-per-view will see the start of the Tag Team title tournament, which will then conclude the following week.
A promotional video for Alex Shelley's "Paparazzi Productions" played at this time. Shelley announced he will be bringing the Productions to NWA:TNA next week as a "public service" to the fans.
KURT ANGLE VS. "THE ALPHA MALE" MONTY BROWN
Lance Storm joined Dean and Paul on commentary for this match, and it seemed to distract his new rival, Kurt Angle. Angle also didn't help his cause by taking Monty Brown lightly throughout the opening moments of the match. Brown took a very early advantage, and it looked like he could very easily have picked up the victory! It didn't take long, though, for Angle to regain his focus and eventually hit the "Alpha Male" with an Olympic Slam, followed by locking him in the ankle lock. Brown struggled to escape, but it was to no avail, as he was forced to tap out. After the match, we almost had an altercation when Angle picked up the NWA Championship belt, but Angle ended up handing it back to Lance Storm, commenting that it will be his soon enough anyways.
The weekly Keiji Sakoda vignette played at this point. At the end, it was announced that Sakoda would be debuting in NWA:TNA on December 6th.
]JUSTIN CREDIBLE VS. SONJAY DUTT
This match barely got underway before we saw a surprise appearance from Raven! Raven jumped Justin Credible from behind, literally beating him down to the mat. Sonjay Dutt tried to assist him, but Raven just threw the NWA:TNA newcomber away. With Credible knocked unconscious, Raven put a straight jacket on him and started dragging him to the backstage area, much to the confusion of the announcers and the crowd.
Backstage, Beth Givens interviews Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett promises victory tonight, stating that if he defeats the champion, that makes him rightful #1 contender until the new system has been set up. He says he is the King of the Mountain - a former NWA World's Champion - and he intends on regaining his championship, and it starts tonight.
"THE PHENOMENAL" AJ STYLES VS. JIMMY JACOBS
I know we are only three weeks into NWA:TNA, but I have to say that this match will easily go down as one of the best during our first year. Both men truly put their hearts into it - battling it out for nothing except pride. Styles fight slighted after losing to Jacobs in the X-Division title tournament, and Jimmy Jacobs felt slighted because Styles couldn't accept a loss to him. Styles seemed to be fighting with a chip on his shoulder, using some tactics that did not draw favorable reactions from the crowd. In addition to skilled mat-wrestling, the match contained many exciting spots, including a spot on the outside where Jimmy Jacobs reversed AJ's attempt at throwing him into the steel ring steps. Jacobs lifted Styles up and crotched him down on the crowd barricade. He then ran up the ring steps, springboarded off the ropes and hit Styles with a moonsault! Jacobs rolled Styles into the ring after the move, but amazingly he kicked out! It was definitely the climax of the match, as the two battled it out harder than ever for only a few minutes longer. AJ Styles appeared to be getting his revenge, setting Jacobs up for the Styles Clash, but again he countered in mid-air. AJ turned around and Jimmy immediately grabbed him and hit him with the Contra Code! Jacobs rolled Styles over and pinned him for the gain a victory that should also gain him some respect within the X-Division.
NWA WORLD'S HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION LANCE STORM VS. JEFF JARRETT (NON-TITLE)
The crowd was incredibly into this match and that just added to the atmosphere of an already excellent match-up between two of NWA:TNA's top stars! Kurt Angle, like Lance Storm earlier in the night, joined Paul and Dean on commentary. Unlike Angle earlier though, Storm kept his eye on the match, but for the first few minutes at least, it didn't seem that would be enough. Jeff Jarrett was determined to regain his championship through hell or high water. Eventually, Storm was able to gain the advantage and slow the pace down with submission holds and technical grappling. It wouldn't be enough to hold Jarrett back though, because he fought back and turned the match back into the brawl he had started it out as. As a result of the ensuing brawl, Jarrett accidentally shoved the champion into the referee! Jarrett then grabbed his infamous guitar, and appeared to have Storm set up to receive the El-Kabong-styled shot to the head - until Kurt Angle leaped into the ring and took the guitar out of Jarrett's hands. Jarrett turned around and Angle slammed the guitar on HIS head! Lance Storm looked very confused at what he saw, as did everyone else. Angle left to the back, nodding at Storm like he owed him. Storm grabbed Jarrett and locked him in the Canadian Maple Leaf. The referee was up in time to see that Jarrett was tapping out to the champion's finishing move. Storm then looked up at the top of the ramp and stared down Kurt Angle, looking almost disappointed in the way he won the match.
