Finished it a day early, so I thought I might as well post it. I honestly don't know if it is my best show, but I think it is probably one of the better ones. Definitely had some of the funnest matches, I just don't know if it translated well in the writing. Anyways, if you read... please reply! Your replies will determine the future of NWA:TNA on the board. Thanks! --Smurf
Dave Prazak and Beth Givens welcome everyone to the NWA:TNA Final Resolution preview show. Videos hyping all of the matches besides the main event were spliced before, between, and after the matches.
SONJAY DUTT VS. JIMMY JACOBS
This was a short, but fun X-Division showcase match. Despite his winless record, Sonjay Dutt proved he can run with his X-Division rivals, taking the fight to Jimmy Jacobs. Jacobs didn't let him get much of an advantage, but it was all he needed. Dutt was able to finally pick up his first victory, hitting Jacobs with the Hindusault for the three count and the victory! Dutt ran to the back celebrating his victory.
Backstage, Raven cut another eerie promo. He said that the transformation was complete and the newest member to his following was ready to return. A light shown and Justin Polaco was shown standing behind him, along with another man whose hair was covering his face. He flipped it back, but before you could get a clear look at him, the camera cut out.
RON KILLINGS & LANCE HOYT VS. RAVEN'S FOLLOWING
Killings and the debuting Lance Hoyt were in the ring waiting as we returned to the ringside area. Raven's music cued up and out walked Justin Polaco. After a few moments, JEFF HARDY walked out and joined him. The fans were happy to see Hardy, but confused as to why and how he became affiliated with Raven. The two new tag teams battled it out in a highly competitive, back-and-forth battle. Justin Polaco looked like he would be picking up a victory, hitting Ron Killings with the superkick, but then, Lance Hoyt nailed Polaco with a kick of his own - the big boot. The kicking wasn't done there. Jeff Hardy nailed Hoyt with a dropkick out of the ring. He then climbed to the top rope and hit Ron Killings with the Swanton Bomb, laying him out finally before picking up the pinfall victory.
Prazak and Givens thanked everyone for watching and urged them to order the Final Resolution ppv, as it will be the biggest NWA:TNA show to date.
Live on Pay-Per-View
December 27th, 2006[/center]
A promotional video played to open the show, to the sounds of Brand New's "Millstone," beginning with the ladder video from last week's PPV hyping the main event, and then flashing images of all the competitors in tonight's King of the Mountain match-up! The Final Resolution logo then flashed over the screen.
Backstage, New Generation X and Kevin Nash were shown in their locker room. Nash said he has a secret weapon if the Strong Style Thugs try to start anything tricky with them. He then pulled out a pistol! Styles asked what Nash thought he would do with that. Nash said that "thug" is right in their name, so you can never be too sure what to think about them. Styles told him not to worry, and that he and Sabin had everything under control.
The NWA:TNA opening video plays, to the sounds of Dropping Daylight's "Tell Me." Fireworks blast off of the brand new stage, as Paul Heyman and Dean Malenko welcome everyone to Final Resolution, live on pay-per-view! They say there is no time to talk because we have such a jam-packed card so they go straight to the ring.
THE STRONG STYLE THUGS VS. NEW GENERATION X w/KEVIN NASH
Kevin Nash joined Dean and Paul for commentary for this one. It didn't take long for this match to break down into pure chaos. Styles and Sabin sent Senshi into the referee, knocking him down and out of the way for a few moments. Kevin Nash then threw them some chairs, which they used to hit Homicide with the Con-Chair-To. Homicide was basically out for the rest of the match with that move, but Senshi was still up. He knocked Sabin out of the ring, and then hit Styles with a huge brainbuster. Shi was about to use the chair on Sabin, but Nash got up and shook the referee, who threw the chair out of the ring. Sabin and Senshi then battled it out for a few minutes. Senshi looked to be gaining the advantage when AJ Styles finalyl returned to the match. The two-on-one situation was too much for Senshi, as NGX hit him with their version of "Skipping a Generation." Sabin then rolled him over in a small package for the three count and the win.
A video highlighting the strange relationship and eventual break-up of the tag team of Christopher Daniels and Roderick Strong.
CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (c) VS. RODERICK STRONG (X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH)
This was another highy quality X-Division contest. Unlike most of the others, this one basically featured back-and-forth technical wrestling as opposed to high-flying spots. In fact, the only move off the top rope was a failed attempt at the BME from Christopher Daniels. Strong seemed to have the match won, setting Daniels up for the Roderick's Edge, but Daniels slid out of it. He attempted a sunset flip, but Strong broke free. However, it allowed Daniels to grab Strong and plant him to the mat with the Angel's Wings. Daniels then rolled Strong up and pinned him for the three count and the win! Daniels has successfully defended his championship!
Afterwards, Beth Givens caught up with Daniels as he reached the backstage area. Daniels said he was the greatest X-Division wrestler in the entire world, and no one could stop him. He left it at that, leaving towards his locker room.
AMERICA'S MOST WANTED VS. THE MAVERICKS VS. THE PRIMETIME PLAYERS
Roderick Strong was still being helped to the back as the competitors made their way to the ring for this one. Austin Starr patted Strong on the back as they entered the ring. The Tag Team division had not been showcased much in the past weeks, so Ted Dibiase made this match to feature three of our top tag teams. This would be a three way dance, in which win/loss points would be determined by who was involved in each pinfall. The Mavericks were the first team eliminated, when Chris Harris nailed Kazarian with a spear. Later, Elix Skipper attempted a springboard hurricanrana on Harris, but he ducked and Primetime hit Starr. Starr caught him though and then threw him back behind him, knocking out James Storm in the process. Austin Starr then grabbed Harris and hit him with a Brainbuster. He followed it up with the 450 Splash for the pinfall victory. The Primetime Players have got a great start on their quest for a Tag Team Title shot tonight.
A short video highlighting the build-up to Samoa Joe's debut, including Alex Shelley spoiling the revealing of his signing with the company and the beat-down that Joe put on Shelley last week.
SAMOA JOE VS. ALEX SHELLEY
This match was a pure, squashing beatdown by Samoa Joe on Alex Shelley. The only reason it delayed so long was because Joe hit Shelley with every one of his signature spots, finally finishing him off by locking on the Kakima Clutch. Afterwards, Joe grabbed a microphone and asked one simple question: "Best in the world, huh?" Joe walked to the back, leaving the beaten and battered Alex Shelley lying on the mat and everyone knowing who he had his sights set on next.
A highlight video of the bizarre relationship between Shark Boy and Abyss and their feud with Keiji Sakoda and eventually Tommy Dreamer.
KEIJI SAKODA & TOMMY DREAMER VS. ABYSS & SHARK BOY
This match was ugly - an all-out brawl with no remorse. It concluded without a winner. Tommy Dreamer finally got Abyss to turn on Shark Boy, but it didn't save him from a beating as Abyss ended up leaving all three of his adversaries lying in the ring - Sakoda and Dreamer both bloody messes, and Shark Boy unconscious. Abyss had first turned his attention to Dreamer, whipping him with the chain and eventually hitting him with a chokeslam through a table! He then turned his attention to Sakoda, hitting him with the Shock Treatment and the Black Hole Slam, and then punching him in the face repeatedly with the chain wrapped around his fist. Shark Boy tried to celebrate with him, but he was met with a chokeslam of his own, only his was out of the ring and onto the steel ring steps. Abyss ran to the back, apparently not wanting to deal with them any more.
Beth Givens interviewed Monty Brown backstage. Basically, he said he couldn't wait to defeat Ted Dibiase and get out of this company.
MONTY BROWN VS. TED DIBIASE
This was definitely not a mat clinic. In fact, there wasn't a whole lot of technical wrestling period. However, it was a decent match, but rather short. Both men battled back and forth for a few minutes. Dibiase took control and locked Brown in the Million Dollar Dream sleeper hold, but Brown hit him with a low blow. He followed it up with the Pounce and pinned him for the three count and the win........or so he thought. Roddy Piper came to the ring and restarted the match because Brown should have been DQed after the low blow anyways. Dibiase dragged Brown back to the ring. He hit a few moves on Brown and went for the cover, but he kicked out. Brown then hit Dibiase with some high impact moves of his own, finishing him off with the Alpha Bomb. He went for the cover, but somehow Dibiase kicked out. Brown then grabbed a chair from the announce table and brought it into the ring and leveled Dibiase with it. The referee called for the bell as Brown, frustrated, left to the back.
A commercial for NWA:TNA Season 1: 2006 airs: All 8 pay-per-views from the November 1st debut up to December 20th, the week before Final Resolution, on DVD! Special features include interviews, a behind the scenes look at TNA, and more!
CHRISTIAN CAGE & PETEY WILLIAMS VS. LAX (NWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP/CAPTURE THE FLAG MATCH)
The object of this match was to climb to the top turnbuckle and then grab a Canadian flag with the Tag belts wrapped aroung it that was hanging from the top of a pole. Needless to say, that meant a lot of people were hit with some high impact moves from the top rope. The first one to fall victim was Petey Williams, who received the Border Toss Powerbomb from Hernandez when he was standing on the top rope. Later in the match, everyone was done except Christian Cage. He started to climb to the top rope, but when he got to the top, he turned around and saw a prone Konnan below him. Instead of grabbing the belt, he attempted the Frog Splash, but Konnan moved out of the way! Konnan started to climb to the top rope himself. When he reached the top, Petey Williams grabbed his foot. Konnan started to laugh at him, becuase Williams still appeared weak from the huge Border Toss earlier. However, Williams must have been faking because when Konnan turned around, Williams hit him with a huge low blow and then pulled him off the top rope and threw him out of the ring! Williams then climbed to the top rope and grabbed the flag and the belts, winning it for him and Cage.
A similar video to those played before hyping the main event played at this time.
The ring crew brought out the cage and the ladder for the main event at this time, as well as taking down the pole from the Capture the Flag match.
Backstage, Beth Givens interviewed Monty Brown as he left the arena. He said he would come back on Wednesday and do whatever Dibiase wanted, but he was no longer wrestling for this company again. He also announced that he had lawyers working on a lawsuit against the Championship Committee to get his release.
LANCE STORM VS. SABU VS. KURT ANGLE VS. JEFF JARRETT VS. RAVEN VS. RHINO
This match was pure and utter chaos. The war branched off into three battles of two men: Lance Storm against Kurt Angle, Rhino against Raven, and Jeff Jarrett against Sabu. Jarrett was the first to gain a pinfall. Sabu had attempted the Arabian Facebuster off of the top of the cage onto Jarrett who was lying on the ladder, but Jarrett moved and Sabu crashed and burned on the ladder. Rather than put Sabu in the cage after the pinfall, the ring crew dragged him to the back for medical attention. A few minutes later, Kurt Angle got a pinfall over Lance Storm, hitting him with an Angle Slam on the outside. In a rather comical moment after Storm was let out of the cage, Raven ran up behind him and rolled him up with the Oklahoma Roll, sending him back into the cage again. It was about 5 minutes before anyone got another pinfall again, which was Rhino, who again pinned Lance Storm after the Rhinodriver! The match concluded a few minutes after that. Angle was climbing to the top of the ladder with the belt until Sabu made a miraculous comeback, running down to the ring with his entire torso taped up! He knocked the ladder over with Angle on it, but was then hit with a Gore from Rhino through a table! Clearly, Sabu was down for the count. Lance Storm was back up though and he hit Rhino with a superkick, knocking him out of the ring. Storm then FINALLY gets a pinfall, pinning the fallen Sabu. He then dragged himself over to the title belt and then slowly pulled himself up to the top of the ladder. He looked down and Kurt Angle was starting to get in the ring. Storm quickly hooked the belt up to win the match. Just then, Angle stood up and saw that Storm had won. He ran towards the ladder. Storm quickly unhooked the belt and jumped off the ladder before Angle tipped it over. Storm slid out of the ring and walked up the ramp, holding the belt, as Angle threw a temper tantrum in the ring, attacking EVERYONE - the referee, Jeff Jarrett, Raven, and Rhino. As Angle locked in ankle lock on Rhino, Paul and Dean questioned what would come out of this. They then thanked everyone for watching and said we would see you again in 2007!
