MINNEAPOLIS – The newly crowned Fight Club Heavyweight Champion kicked off the show, making his presence felt early. Samoa Joe grabbed the microphone and starting to make a speech. "I came to Fight Club for competion," the champ stated. "But I haven't found any here. I come here and in my first night, I become the champion." Joe continued to spew his negative comments about his fellow Fight Club member.
Finally, he was interrupted by the debuting Rey Mysterio! Mysterio ran to the ring and started taking it to the Samoan Submission Machine like no one we had seen before. Rey Rey finally had Joe where he wanted him - and that was set up for the 619 - but he took too long taunting, because the champ was able to leave the ring and start walking to the back before Rey could do any more damage. Tempers were boiling, and we were only moments into the show!
Jimmy Jacobs, Shannon Moore, and Alex Shelley, better known as Doing it for Her, were backstage as Jimmy whined about something Shelley had done. Jacobs finally concluded his rant by accusing Shelley of not being straight edge. C.M. Punk, who was standing nearby and apparently offended by this, degraded Jacobs, who isn't straight edge himself, for making that comment. He told him not to associate him [Punk] with "emos like them." Jacobs took offense to that comment, and eventually, challenged Punk to a tag team match tonight against himself and Shannon Moore, which C.M. accepted!
Paul London, who according to Fight Club commentator Joey Styles refuses to speak to Spanky because he has moved on, came to the ring with his new tag team partner, Matt Sydal. It was a rematch of sorts, as they took on Nunzio and Chucky P. Maritato, accompanied by Johnny The Bull.
Nunzio and Chucky showed a nice mix of power and speed, and it didn't hurt that The Bull was on the outside to lend a helping hand when need as they took an early advantage against London and Sydal. The high-flying duo fought back, but it didn't appear they had enough until the closing moments of the match. Surprisingly, Spanky appeared and grabbed Nunzio’s foot, allowing Sydal to hit Chucky P. with an enziguri, which was followed by a standing shooting star from London for the three count and the win!
Jericho made his way to the ring to start out next segment, and he said he was very disappointed in his performance last week, becuase he knows he is still the greatest member of the Fight Club roster. He then laid out an open challenge to ANYONE in the back.
The call was answered as a young Japanese man in a suit made his way to the ring, and introcued himself as Akari Nowata. He said he was the agent of a man named Takeshi Morishima, who would love to accept Jericho's challenge. Jericho agreed, not knowing anything about Morishima, and was in for quite a surprise as the 6-foot-3-inch, 320 pound MONSTER made his way to the ring.
Morishima immediately began taking it to the former Heavyweight Champ, overpowering him with his strong style. Jericho used his speed to get in some offense, so this was not as one-sided as you may think. However, in the end, it was Morishima who got the better of Jericho, planting him to the mat with the Backdrop Suplex for the pinfall victory.
A strange video montage aired, featuring some shots of a prosporous New England neighborhood, and ending with the phrase "It's harder to live here than you think."
At long last, it was time for our main event, the battle between Doing it for Her and C.M. Punk. All three members of DIFH waited in the ring for Punk and his partner. Punk walked down to ringside first and waited there as... Matt Hardy made his way to the ring! They slid into the ring and immediately started battling with the self-described emos.
Jimmy Jacobs began choking Matt Hardy in the corner, while Punk fought off both Shelley and Moore. Meanwhile, the referee yelled to remove one of the members of DIFH from the ring. Punk tossed Shelley from the ring and then nailed "The Prince of Punk" with the Go 2 Sleep, sending him from the ring. Jacobs jumped Punk as Hardy battled Shelley, and it appeared as though this match was finally underway.
The two teams battled back and forth for a few minutes, but DIFH, the more experienced team, was able to keep Hardy in the ring for a long time. Eventually, he got the hot tag and Punk came in, clearing house! Eventually, he had Jacobs in the ring alone and after a bulldog from the corner, locked him in the Anaconda Vice! Shelley immediately came into the ring and broke it up.
This brought in Matt Hardy, who threw Shelley from the ring. He then set Jacobs up for the Twist of Fate, but he reversed it and dropkicked Hardy from the ring. He celebrated that accomplishment just a bit too long, as C.M. Punk stood up behind him. Jacobs turned around and was immediately met with the G2S from Punk! Punk fell to the mat and lazily hooked the lg of Jacobs, but it was enough as he picked up the pinfall victory.
After the match, Punk and Hardy celebrated in the ring as camera faded on the Fight Club complex.
Thanks for reading. I will definitely try to reply to some shows tonight.
