- Sky Sports 3 in the United Kingdom's edition of ECW on Sci-Fi received a perfectly respectable 1.04 rating. While this is down 0.02 from last week, the main event portion of the show received a valid 1.06. Which was last week's rating. - Meanwhile, over on the Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling front, TNA iMPACT! on Spike received a 1.47. I have to say, this is completely suprising especially after the lackluster average event that was previously reviewed in 'POWERSLAM Magazine'. What's more amusing is that by the final half-an-hour of iMPACT!, it had decreased 0.63 since the opening half-hour. - Florida Championship Wrestling hosted Borbon Street Showdown last night, live in front of 264 people at Booneville National Armory...In highlights from the show, the Puerto-Rican Nightmares defeated Lupe and DeBone to retain the FCW Tag Team Championships & Jake Hager successfully retained the FCW World Heavyweight Championship from Heath Miller in the match of the night. - SmackDown tonight is expected to be headlined by Triple H taking on the Great Khali for the WWE Championship. Yes, this match was supposed to take place at SummerSlam, though it is unsure whether Khali can continue until SummerSlam. As repeatedly mentioned, his legs are in extremely fragile condition and Khali really has no intention of wrestling much longer. It could be that Khali will play a role reminiscent to Andre the Giant back in the 1970s in which he defeated every jobber. But alternatively, Great Khali could request or be released. Khali is probably financially set for life in his home in India, as he is also a good target for being a bodyguard in action films. Khali did recently participate in 'Get Smart' also featuring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. - Jonathan Coachman's contract with World Wrestling Entertainment did indeed expire on Monday. Coachman has ambitions to become a television presenter on ESPN. WWE have wished him luck on all future endeavors. - On an interesting note, Billy Kidman's profile has been added to SmackDown's roster page. What's more interesting is that Kidman's profile is outdated, his biography cutting off at his WWE Cruiserweight Championship win in November 2002. - It is also expected that Umaga will face Jeff Hary tonight on Friday Night SmackDown. However, due to the Great Khali probably pulling out of his WWE SummerSlam match with Triple H, it is undoubtably that the winner will become the new number one contender for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. - Carlito will appear on WWE Television for the first time, tonight since being drafted to the SmackDown brand. It is likely that he will pair with somebody permanently in the tag team division.

I do like this diary. I think it's pretty realistic and fits with today's WWE. I like the Word Up segment on WWE.com. You are very detailed in your Results and Wrestling Observer Newsletter posts which is great. I will definitely be reading more in the future.

Friday, Week 1, August 2008 The show kicked off tonight with the usual opening of SmackDown, showing the basic viewage of SmackDown! branded superstars hitting moves inside many blue tiles to 'Rise Up' by Drowning Pool. The pyrotechnics hit the stage as Jim Ross and Mick Foley introduced us to the show, running down the card, scheduled to feature Umaga taking on Jeff Hardy in the main event. B- We see a few clips of Vladimir Koslov's dark match in which he defeated Funaki in 4:50 by pinfall with a Russian Rack. C+ Without any scheduled anticipation, the Great Khali's theme plays loudly into the arena. Without any hesitation, Ranjin Singh appears on the stage, leading Great Khali out to the live arena. He gets the usual booing from the audience, as always a very loud negative reaction at that. Khali slowly climbs into the ring as Ranjin Singh walks around the ring to grab a microphone. Great Khali talks the usual crappy gibberish that he speaks, only creating even more of a heel reaction before Ranjin Singh talks it through in English. What baffles me is that Great Khali can actually speak fluent English. Singh says that the Great Khali didn't want to waste any time trying to even attempt and wait three weeks and two days. He says that Khali is serious about wanting the WWE Champion, Triple H immediately. Triple H's music then hits the arena to an excruciatingly loud reaction as the WWE Champion pops up on the stage. He walks down the ramp and attempts to enter the ring only for Khali to take a swing at him but fail. Triple H manages to stand on the apron while Ranjin restrains Khali. Triple H challenges Great Khali to a street fight tonight for the WWE Championship, stating that if Khali was to lose, he'd have to leave SmackDown, ECW, RAW and the WWE. B+ The announcers, Jim Ross and Mick Foley take the time to put over the main event as Triple H leaves and Great Khali is seen walking up and down quickly. Mick Foley also mentions that he might decide to get involved. Later tonight! B+ Match #1: Natalya defeated Maria at 4:36 after the Sharpshooter to gain contention to the WWE Divas Championship This was actually a pretty decent contest, though average. I personally believe that the live audience's reaction saved this match. Natalya I believe saved this match also, using her suprisingly amazing technical in-ring skills to keep the match looking hot. As it is announced in the heading for this match review, the winner of this match was to go on and face Michelle McCool for her WWE Divas Championship at a later date, and these two women actually made this look like they were fighting for a shot at the WWE Championship. Natalya got some 'Nattie Neidhart' chants, suprisingly as Mick Foley even noted that Natalya was Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart's daughter. The match was kept short also, and the finish came when Maryse walked down the ramp and waited at the ringside area, inevitably distracting Maria just when she was on the offense. Natalya twirled her around and hit the Nattie by Nature [that was not recognised by the announcers] before making Maria tap in the sharpshooter. C We return from the commercial break to see a nice old Ferrari pull into the parking lot. Moments later, we see Edge get out of the nice silver car as he receives an enormously loud heel reaction. Edge asks a passing stage-hand if Undertaker or 'she' was here. The stage-hand embarrassingly asked who 'she' was before Edge called her the bitch, Vickie Guerrero. The stage-hand says that she wasn't going to show tonight. Edge shoves the stage-hand off screen before walking towards the arena, his bag in hand. There, developmental stars Andrew Vain and Scotty Goldman along with referee, Jack Doan and Domino are standing around. Edge asks then what the hell they are looking before telling them not to say anything stupid if they're gonna say anything. Scotty comically says 'Yes sausage'. Edge finds this offensive as the crowd eat it up. Edge shouts at him and slaps at him, telling him to get into the arena and fight him man-to-man later tonight. Goldman is left standing there and shaking. B+ A commercial identical to the one aired at ECW on Sci-Fi plays, hyping up SummerSlam, this time involving World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk. The narrator describes Punk as being the underdog of the show without a doubt. He calls Punk the lone-star, straight-edge worldwide wrestler, further complimenting him, then involving Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. It ends showing details of the historical event. B+ Mr Kennedy is seen backstage to a good reaction from the crowd, as the interviewer, Josh Matthews' segment introducing words are muffled by the sound of the audience. Josh reminds Mr Kennedy that he has a match tonight against Montel Vontanious Porter. Matthews is cut off at mid-sentence, reminiscent to The Rock as Kennedy goes through his fan favourite, arrogant speaking routine. Kennedy demands the microphone before asking what kind of junk that is. He throws it off screen as he reaches up. In comedy fashion, his microphone appears, dropping down from above. He goes through his biography before saying his catchphrase twice. The light is only based on Kennedy and nothing else, as he describes MVP as being a 'wannabe franchise player'. Kennedy also mentions WWE United States Champion, Shelton Benjamin, stating that when he beats MVP tonight, he will end up facing Benjamin at SummerSlam. B+ We cut to another part of the backstage area where Jesse and Festus are seen, Festus with a humorous look on his face, obviously due to the lack of bell-ringing. Jesse does the talking, mentioning everything in the tag team division today, excitedly telling Festus what being the WWE Tag Team Champions is like. Jesse points at Festus' face as the camera zooms in slightly, telling the viewers that 'That is the face of a determined WWE Tag Team Champion'. B- Returning to the live arena, we see The Brian Kendrick walking down the ramp already as 'Man With a Plan' is playing. Kendrick is as always accompanied by Ezekiel Jackson as he talks about what the Cruiserweight Championship was like, also mentioning RAW's Paul London and telling us that he doesn't care whether London has a new partner as the original pairing went nowhere. Kendrick puts over tonight's match against a newbie. It is announced as being the final graduate of the Dungeon, TJ Wilson. C Match #2: The Brian Kendrick defeated TJ Wilson at 6:46 after the Kendrick I have to say, despite TJ Wilson being pretty much unknown to the WWE Universe, or should I say 'the fans', he was pretty over in this match. The match quality was unsuprisingly high, not one botch was spotted in this match, so Maffew can back off. The Brian Kendrick played the cocky-yet-cowardly heel who underestimated the rookie, simply toying with TJ on two different occasions. Kendrick's offense ended as TJ's first began when The Kendrick was reversed into a suplex/facebuster move. TJ went on a roll, hitting a Bob Holly dropkick and several amazing aerial and technical attacks. TJ even tossed Kendrick out at one point, and when he went for a suicide dive through the ropes [JR pronounced it as 'a dive'], Kendrick kicked him in the head. After Ezekiel helped Kendrick pick Wilson up and roll him into the ring, one more The Kendrick finished the contest. B A video package illustrates the history of the rivalry between Great Khali and Triple H for tonight's WWE Championship street fight encounter, which officially involves Mick Foley as the official. There isn't much history between these men, though. Only footage of when Khali was sent by Vince McMahon to destroy D-Generation X and whatnot. It lasts up to last week. B+ Match #3: Montel Vontanious Porter defeated Mr. Kennedy at 9:40 after the Playmaker. I have to say, this was an amazing match between two men that predictably had chemistry. And this I believe was their first match against one-another. Amazing contest to say the least. Not one botch once again. Both of these men produced a what should of been pay-per-view worthy mid-card contest. Mr. Kennedy started off on the offense, using some pretty unique moves, trying to wear down Montel Vontanious Porter. However, when Kennedy tried to connect with his one weak skill, an ariel attack from up top, MVP knocked him by bouncing into the ropes. MVP hit a spine-cringing DDT from there, and Kennedy sold it like he had broken his neck or vertabrae. MVP continued to torture Kennedy and place Ken in many submission holds in that were offensive to the neck and spine region, having a dragon sleeper applied for several minutes. Kennedy got back up though, as he powerslammed himself out of it and got back on the offense slowly. I just remembered that Shelton Benjamin had joined JR and Foley at the announcers table, and he did a good job, he sounded like Tazz. Benjamin got involved when he got onto the apron and distracted Kennedy. MVP hit him with a Drive-By Kick [Kennedy was on all-fours having just hit the Kenton Bomb] and hit the Playmaker for the win. A* We then cut to a replay of what happened earlier tonight and what went down between Scotty Goldman and Edge. A graphic hyped the match between Edge and Scotty Goldman for being up next after the commercials. B+ Match #4: Edge defeated Scotty Goldman at 4:48 by submission after the Edgucator Though this contest was a simple one-sided affair, it did include several memorable moments, it was as amusing and entertaining as hell. Scotty Goldman actually put himself over in his debut, that 'Yes sausage' comment being a starting point. Goldman, for the first minute of this match ran around the ring and ringside area like crazy, trying to get away from Edge. His plan was thwarted however as he stubbed his toe on the ringsteps, causing him to hold his knee in mid-air like a cartoon character. Edge slammed him repeatedly into the steps while uttering a word disrespecting the Undertaker before grabbing Goldman into the ring, a cut evolving on his forehead. Edge planted Goldman with the Edgecution [but the announcers called it the Impact DDT, in the shades of Gangrel] but refused to cover. Edge nailed him with two spears and decided not to pin. Edge placed Goldman in the Edgecator as Goldman tapped out easily. B+ Following the contest, however, Edge refused point-blank to release the Edgecator submission hold on Scotty Goldman. The crowd began to boo Edge louder and louder, easily gaining him the loudest heat of the night as a dozen officials ran in there to try and break up the hold. Edge finally released, but in return, gave all of the officials right hands, delivering a Spear to the final one of the pack. Edge cut a stellar promo on Undertaker, saying that he couldn't wait for Hell in a Cell for when he sends Undertaker back to exile and to return him to Hell, permanently. A* We cut to the backstage area as Edge begins to leave where Josh Mathews was standing by with Jeff Hardy. Hardy got a loud reaction from the audience, many girls screaming his name, but the crowd, other than the screams was just the artificial-reaction machine that SmackDown uses. Hardy began to talk about his match tonight about Umaga, mentioning that the winner will now go on to face the winner of Triple H and Great Khali at SummerSlam. Hardy is then interrupted by The Brian Kendrick, accompanied by Ezekiel Jackson. Kendrick tells Hardy that he is a disgrace to the cruiserweights and to the people who weigh what Hardy does, by selling out to go and fight in the big leagues, leaving the cruiserweight division behind, making it look weak. Hardy looks confused as he walks away. Kendrick looks furious as he was ignored. B- Match #5: Umaga defeated Jeff Hardy at 11:09 after a Samoan Spike to gain contention to the WWE Championship This was a perfect match that impressed me. It came close of receiving a match of the year candidate [which suprises me intensely since there's already been two spotless graded matches on two of the three shows only in this week. And SNME is still to come. These two showed absolutely amazing chemistry with one-another and both men really did do an amazing job here. Outstanding work on both mens part despite Jeff Hardy not being big in the brawling style and visa-versa towards Umaga in the technical and aerial style. Nontheless, a very good match put on by both men as it featured Umaga repeatedly working on the spine of Jeff Hardy, doing what he does best. Hardy in return was actually not too stiff or sloppy. However, it showed that the previous interview interruption by The Brian Kendrick was now a running-on storyline as The Brian Kendrick came out to the ring after Jeff gave Umaga a drop-toe-hold into the referee. Jeff dove to the outside and picked up Kendrick only for Brian to hit a step-up enziguri. Kendrick rolled Jeff into the ring where Umaga came off the top rope with a Samoan Spike for the win. A A promo airs, reviewing the past of a man by the name of 'R-Truth'. It tells us his character's background having spent time in a prison. It hypes up his debut to SmackDown for next Friday night. B Match #6: Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins defeated Shannon Moore and Jimmy Wang Yang at 6:52 after Hawkins hit the Heat Stroke on Yang to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships This wasn't exactly the greatest match of the night, in fact it was as good as the divas contest earlier on. Jimmy Wang Yang didn't seem too into wrestling tonight, but I am positive that that will not affect his future in the WWE. It isn't exactly his fault, either. Wrestlers have bad nights sometimes, accidents happen. Other than that, Shannon Moore and Zack Ryder put the most effort into this match, and it was an outstanding affair between four men, Ryder and Moore being aforementioned as also being most active. The match didn't go too long, but then again that is respectable. And the official for this contest was actually referee-turned-road agent, Tim White. Jim Ross gave him some credit for refereeing his first match in years in a tag team title defense, Hawkins and Ryder's first defense at that. Yang got the tag as Moore and Ryder went over the top rope. Yang tried to stop Hawkins but he managed to nail the Heat Stroke out of nowhere. C We cut to the backstage area where Josh Mathews was seen standing by with the Game, WWE Champion, Triple H. Triple H says that he is very ready and prepared for his upcoming battle with Great Khali before being cut off by a familiar man with an afro. Carlito had returned, showing up right there and then, his afro was back too. Despite having corn rolls back in June. Carlito joked with Triple H about that time where they had to fight in a street fight but only Carlito could use weapons. He says this without mentioning his name as Carlito leaves. Triple H whispers to Mathews in comical fashion who the hell that guy was. B Following that we suddenly see DH Smith, son of Davey Boy Smith standing somewhere, apparently getting ready for a match or something. The lights suddenly go out as the crowd cheers. DH Smith is heard yelling and complaining about the lighting system before the lights return to find him lying on the floor, the letter 'V' spray-painted on his back in black paint. B Main Event: Triple H defeated Great Khali at 10:01 by pinfall after the Pedigree to retain the WWE Championship in a Street Fight This was a suprisingly decent match held between Triple H and the Great Khali. These two would of put on a match like this had Khali's legs been in the right condition for SummerSlam. Khali showed more charisma here, suprisingly and the street fight stipulation suited him very well, not like usual matches. He was in a hurry to grab a weapon, that's for sure. Triple H actually sold Khali's attacks too, interesting considering that Triple H has a habit of no-selling moves to get over in a losing predicament [see Armageddon 2007]. Khali should get credit for dragging on an above-average match here, as the crowd were extremely into this match also. In Mick Foley's absense [Foley did a good job as referee as usual], Josh Mathews replaced him and did a fairly good job announcing with Jim Ross. Even Ranjin Singh took a bump. He got on the apron after Khali's Chokeslam only got a two-count and slapped Foley. Foley applied the Mandible Claw [without Mr. Socko] and shoved him off of the apron and through a perfectly placed table [Triple H had previously set it up]. The finish came when Triple H gave Khali seven chair shots to the head before doubling Khali over and hitting the Pedigree for the win. A great match to finish SmackDown and the Great Khali's career. C+ Triple H begins to celebrate over his hard-fought victory against Great Khali as he begins to celebrate with Mick Foley as Foley heads to the back. That's when Umaga rushes down the rampway as Triple H challenges him, provoking him to bring it on. Umaga raises his arm span and runs into the ring, both men getting into a big brawl. It ends with Umaga shoving the WWE Champion backwards before nailing the champ with a steel chair. Umaga stood tall over Triple H with a foot on a steel-chair placed on his stomach as SmackDown went off the air. B

SD was your best show so far in the diary. I like the stuff with Edge-Goldman. It's realistic for a rookie to try to bitch out a main eventer and then get squashed, so I liked that. Really surprised that MVP won despite a Kennedy promo. Umaga beating Hardy is cool. Him as champion could potentially be a good idea. I see you really want to write off Khali.
Only thing I didn't like was that HHH-Khali was on TV. Even with his bum knees, he still could've worked Summerslam, especially with a stipulation like that. One thing I do like though is how you have things like ads that give the show a real-life feel to it.

I love how you do the WWE.com segments along with the diary. Read RAW/ECW a few days ago, thought I replied. ( ha) Well, both were good and I also enjoyed Smackdown! Good way to open it to get Khali out of the picture. Leaving all the shows sounds good. HOLY TJ WILSON ALERT! I love this FCW/ECW/SD talent exchange, because it allows some talent to creep on to the show. Good god Wilson better get a push. Haha Cabana been destroyed by Edge is definitely a fun time and good to see Edgeheads retain also. Hooray for Triple H winning and now facing Umaga for the easy win at Summerslam. I hope Mr. H holds that belt for quite some time. This is actually one of your best diaries in some time DTP. Dont stop it !

Smack Down was pretty good. The matches have lots of detail in them, but a few of the details are a tad useless. Nevertheless, it was still fine. The opener was pretty good. I'm liking this push you're giving Natalya. Please, put the belt on the her, please. TBK versus TJ Wilson was a REALLY good match. Those two seem like they could pull off a excellent match. Definetly my favorite of the night. Loved that botchamania reference in there, lol. Glad you gave Brian Kendrick the victory. Meh, the MVP and Kennedy match was ok, but I don't really enjoy either, so that's probably why I wasn't too keen about the match. However, it was realistic, and I could see those two having some chemistry. Could have gone either way, and I wouldn't care. Suprisingly, the Edge and Goldman match was really good. I wish, though, that it wasn't a squash match. But that would be unrealistic. Anyways, the rest of the show was pretty good. Please, please, please, give the belt to Umaga, and maybe have Kozlov and Umaga feud later. Great show, and I'll try to read this diary more often. Thanks for the reply to TNA 2008.

- WWE Friday Night SmackDown was considered a success by the management and the show was well-received from spectators in a survey following the show. The CW's rating of SmackDown received a 3.26 rating, which is up by 0.06 from last week. Sky Sports 1 over in the United Kingdom received a 1.69 as The Score gathered a 3.08. - Joey Styles asked for his release following SmackDown last night. WWE granted it, and he has officially been let go. Styles is worth a decent lot, and so it is likely that he will settle down into retirement. - Pro Wrestling Guerrilla hosted their Trompe Le Monde big event last night at Van Nuys Armory, it was an average show, as an acquintance of mine told me [he had gone to see the PWG event]. I am told that the notable happenings from that event were the Dynasty drawing Age of the Fall to a double-count out to retain the PWG Tag Team Championship, as well as Chris Hero defeating Jack Evans, Human Tornado and Roderick Strong to win the PWG World Heavyweight Championship. - Tonight's Saturday Night's Main Event spectacular, hosted on NBC has been announced as to be hosted by Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and Tazz. The show will last ninety minutes. - I will not spoil the Saturday Night's Main Event show either, as SNME was taped following WWE RAW last Monday night. I am told however that it was a good show. - I will divulge however that Carlito is scheduled to make an appearance in-ring, as he will take on Shannon Moore. It will happen to build up Carlito's in-ring skills. - The main event for SNME tonight will be a D-Generation X reunion as Triple H and Shawn Michaels will team with World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk to take on Umaga, Edge and Chris Jericho in six-man tag team action. - The WWE management have lost interest in using Colin Delaney. His heel turn has killed off his run, and WWE have marked that as a failed experiment. Don't be suprised if Colin Delaney is released.

Friday, Week 1, August 2008 The show kicked off tonight with a short opening video package of Saturday Night's Main Event, showing superstars from RAW, SmackDown and ECW hitting moves inside many boxes and 'snapshot' style images to 'Boom' by POD. The pyrotechnics hit the stage as Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and Tazz introduced us to the show, running down the card, scheduled to feature Umaga teaming up with Edge and RAW's Chris Jericho taking on World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk and D-Generation X in the main event. B+ The theme of Carlito played throughout the arena loudly, preparing us for the arrival of the man of the Caribbean, Carlito. He comes down the HD-style ramp to a decent series of boos, suprising considering that he hadn't been on WWE television since June. He got into the ring and cut a promo about how he hadn't been on television recently, mainly due to the antics of the 'big guys' like Triple H, wanting to push the smaller guys down, the more talented ones. Carlito summons his opponent. C+ Match #1: Carlito defeated Shannon Moore at 8:19 after a Backcracker A decent opening contest to kick off this special NBC edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, these two showed a lot of chemistry in this ring, and worked all around the technical and aerial styles, which obviously is their more common and trademarked areas of wrestling in the ring. The audience were suprisingly into it, chanting Shannon's name and pissing all over Carlito's, Moore did some pretty impressive stuff though it was questionable about the whereabouts of Moore's partner, Jimmy Wang Yang tonight. Carlito, however worked over Shannon Moore for a large portion of the match, despite Moore having several runs and tidbits of offense in here and there, including the kickoff of this match. When Carlito had Moore down on the canvas, he usually began to use a series of head-submissions along with a filling of aerial assaults, such as a 360-degree legdrop. Moore went for the Moonsault near the end but missed, and Carlito nailed him with the Backcracker for the win. B Following this segment, we cut to the backstage area where one of a dying breed of originals in ECW, Stevie Richards was roaming around in the backstage area cautiously. Todd Grisham confronts him with a microphone in hand, but Richards snatches the microphone and throws it off screen saying that he wanted nobody to know. Richards says that he knows that he is one of a dying breed. Stevie says that he secretly hates the WWE management for turning him into a low-life second-class employee, after being one of the top dogs in ECW back in 1997. Richards says that he is in the process of changing things, even if it means bringing in some re-enforcement. The crowd seemed amused. C+ We then returned to the live arena where this time, The Brian Kendrick was dancing down the rampway, Ezekiel Jackson following along as usual. Kendrick cut a short promo about Vickie Guerrero apparently giving him a match tonight against a mystery opponent via text message, Kendrick bragigng that Vickie should know he doesn't care about who his opponent is ever unless in a serious condition. Paul London's theme then hit as London and his new partner, Jamie Noble walked out. London and Noble bragged about them getting set up for the World Tag Team Championship match on Monday Night RAW, London joking and asking what Kendrick was doing, in regards of going after a title. London eventually drops the bomb saying that he was told to come out now and fight whoever was in the ring. Kendrick tells London to bring it as Paul runs down the rampway. [glow=blue,2,300] C+[/glow] Match #2: The Brian Kendrick defeated Paul London in 6:32 after disqualification This was quite the interesting match contested out here between two great performers. These two former partners were apparently told that they'd be facing a mystery man for an opponent. Turns out it was their own former partner from the RAW brand, the very same partners who were one of the longest-reigning tag team champions in WWE history, even if it was only the WWE Tag Team Championships. Anyways, these two pulled out all the stops during this seemingly short match, it could of been two or three minutes longer, however. London was accompanied by new 'Hooligans' partner, Jamie Noble as Kendrick had Ezekiel Jackson with him as usual. Both managers got involved also, Kendrick however laying out Noble with an enziguri outside of the ring. London however seemed to be on a roll towards the end of the match, heading up top for what seemed to be the 360-degree splash from the top rope but Zeke shook the top rope, crotching London. Kendrick got sat in front of London and hit The Kendrick [though resembling Ultimo Dragon's old WWE finisher] from the top rope for the win. [glow=red,2,300] B[/glow] Match #3: World's Greatest Tag Team defeated Matt Hardy and Braden Walker in 10:49 after Benjamin pinned Walker following the PlaydirtWe returned from the commercial break to see Braden Walker on his way down the ramp way on route to the ring. Matt Hardy shortly follows before a sudden pause fills the arena in suspense for several moments. We hear the introduction of the World Greatest Tag Team play as the crowd give it a mixed reaction. Then, out comes Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas wearing matching attires with their sleeveless jackets and hoodies. This was actually a pretty decent match between these four men, it was good to see Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin team together tonight, very nice. There was no awkwardness anticipated between the lack of being a team in so long. Braden was the one grounded here by the two WGTT members, and he sold it pretty darn well, too. Matt Hardy then came in and went on a roll until Haas laid him out with a backbreaker. Braden got the tag as Hardy struggled to the corner, but by then Benjamin had gotten the tag, and Walker ran into the Playdirt. B- Following the contest, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin hug and embrace as this is their last night together as a team until probably the next Saturday Night's Main Event in November. However moments later, Haas went over to celebrate on the middle turnbuckle and when he turned back, he got nailed with the United States Championship belt! Benjamin picks up Haas and nails him with the Playdirt before stomping away at Haas nearer the corner. That's when Matt Hardy gets to his feet after attending to the fallen Braden Walker, and gives Benjamin a big dropkick to the rear, sending him to the outside. We hear 'No Make Believe' play into the arena however as John Morrison and The Miz appear in casual clothes on the stage. They challenge Hardy and Walker to simply try and recover from that beating for a match this Tuesday night on ECW. Matt simply nods his head as Walker sits up in the corner. B- We then cut to see a video package based around the recent happenings on both WWE RAW and on ECW on Sci-Fi in which World Tag Team Champions, Ted Dibiase Jr and Cody Rhodes have insulted Finlay and Hornswoggle for stinking up the joint with their prescense. It will all lead down to the final tag team match between these two teams tonight. B Match #4: Finlay and Hornswoggle defeated Ted Dibiase Jr and Cody Rhodes in 7:55 after Hornswoggle pinned Cody Rhodes with a Tadpole Splash This was a decent match considering the talent used [well...considering that Hornswoggle is used]. Finlay fought understandably as if this match was a handicap match, defending his son whenever he could, coming out successfuly forty-nine percent of the time. However, during Finlay's first 'roll' during the opening moments of the match, Hornswoggle came in simply to scare and make Ted Dibiase Jr run in fear, that got a loud reaction, mainly from the children and young kids in attendance. The match didn't run long, though that is understandable, but this contest was actually good, whenever Hornswoggle was in, he used the waistlock takedown around the ankles of his opponent and slapped on an ankle lock almost applying a single-legged boston crab too. The finish of the match came when Finlay took out Ted Dibiase Jr after hitting the Celtic Cross on Cody Rhodes and tagging Horny in. One Tadpole Splash later, it was over. B- We cut to a dark area in the backstage set where the Big Red Monster, Kane is standing lonely as an omenous red glow covers him. We then see Michael Cole walk on screen slowly, asking in fear where he was last Monday night. Kane says that he doesn't need to answer to Cole or anybody else for that matter. Kane says that tonight, he has a match with John Cena. Kane says that Cena has held him down with his cute looks and his apparent charisma but has left him in the shadows. Kane says that it is a fact that he should be World Heavyweight Champion, and tonight, he will prove it when he crushes the cute former WWE Champion. B+ Match #5: John Cena defeated Kane in 8:54 after disqualification. This was a fantastic match here between two good performers. Kane hadn't previously been on RAW, so this was also interesting to see what the WWE management were doing with Kane after not being on television in one or two weeks. Cena showed a lot of fight in here, and this was nothing of a squash or a one-sided affair, though Kane did take it to Cena big-time. Kane used a lot of antics including repeatedly slamming his head into the steel steps, choking him out with a television cable and having the heart to try and Tombstone him onto exposed concrete. But Cena gave him an impressive hurricanrana-esque headsissors, sending Kane into the steps. I think the edge of the steps gave Kane a hardway cut above the eyebrow too, as he bled after that. Cena got really hyped up as he got set up for the F-U and nailed it, slamming Kane onto the bottom set of ring steps. Kane no-sold it with the infamous sit-up however, and he got into the ring and nailed Cena with a chokeslam. Kane covered but only got a two count. Then, in a bizarre moment, Kane screamed at the top of his voice, louder than the arena was too. Kane rolled out of the ring at that point and grabbed the ring steps, sliding them into the ring. Cena got up and tried running at Kane only to be shoved away. Kane heinusly nailed Cena with the side of the steps as the official disqualified Kane. Following the contest however, came Batista as he ran out and took out Kane, several officials attemtping to break up the action. A* Following the commercial break, we cut to Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and Tazz where they all hype up the upcoming main event between D-Generation X and CM Punk vs. Umaga, Edge and Chris Jericho. [glow=blue,2,300] B+[/glow] "Are You Ready?" starts off the crowd as the lights begin to flash dark green. Moments later, small clips of D-Generation X's titantron is meshed annoyingly together with Triple H and Shawn Michaels making their entrance. They take their sweet time, too. The effects annoyed me personally, always have. When they got into the ring, Triple H did his usual 'Who's the Showstopper?' bit as Shawn Michaels asked 'Who's the Game?'. They then cut a humerous promo on their opponents for tonight before doing the Michael Buffer impression. [glow=red,2,300] B+[/glow] Main Event: D-Generation X and CM Punk defeated Umaga, Edge and Chris Jericho in 11:54 after CM Punk pinned Edge after the GTSA fantastic way to finish off and main event tonight's Saturday Night's Main Event spectacular live on NBC. These six performers worked well with one-another, no matter who was the legal man. Technical wrestling consumed this match most, however for the main part. Triple H and Chris Jericho started off, both men showing a large mix of styles, Triple H joining Jericho in utilizing the old technical style. Jericho's attempt at doing this didn't work for long however as Triple H soon reverted back to his brawling ways and trapped Jericho in a wrist-lock, tagging in Shawn Michaels. Michaels had a huge reaction, the crowd loving the feud between him and Jericho. Michaels pushed around Jericho with his own technical skill for a little while, however Jericho eventually got the tag in to Umaga. Umaga begin to dominate Michaels despite how much HBK tried, working on him, also sharing Michaels with Edge. However, then Jericho got back into the ring and ran right into Michaels' Sweet Chin Music. HBK tagged in CM Punk who went on a roll. Punk laid out everybody as Edge got a blind tag in at some point. Edge took out Punk with the Spear as DX and Umaga & Jericho brawled on the outside. Edge went for the cover as a dong echoed through the arena. It donged again as the hand of the Undertaker's popped up through the canvas. It tripped up Edge as the official checked on Punk, Edge being trapped with one leg stuck in the hole in the canvas. Punk had time to get up and recover, and he did, picking Edge up and nailing him with GTS for the win! DX and Punk celebrated as SNME went off the air.[glow=blue,2,300] A[/glow]

Love the diary personally, no suprise SD was considered a success, looks like Umaga vs Trips then? if so I like Umaga being in the main event scene personally.
DX re-union= bad :/ they always get back together
on SNME kinda wanted the heels to beat Trips and the gang but still... looks like a good match

Not a fan at all of Carlito/Shannon leading off the show. Usually the ratings are highest at the beginning, but this would make people turn off the show. Loved the idea of doing Kendrick vs. London, and glad Kendrick won. Braden Walker + SNME = instant win. Didn't like that Hornswoggle won, but I don't like Priceless anyway. By the way, you need to edit the color coding for Finlay & Hornswoggle. Cena-Kane seems like a good match and DQ doesn't hurt either. Good main event and glad to see Punk pick up the W. Overall a good show, but next time you do a SNME, you may want to start out with a lot of the good stuff first like they do in real life.

- As reported on WWE.com, Colin Olsen [Colin Delaney] has been released from the WWE. As mentioned in the previous Wrestling Observer newsletter, their attempt to turn Colin Delaney into a mid-card heel failed miserably and Delaney was beyond repair. Similar things have happeend to such alumni as Gangrel [only as a face] and Nick Dinsmore [Eugene]. - WWE Saturday Night's Main Event scored a rating of 3.95 on NBC. It was also shown live on Sky Sports 3 over in the United Kingdom, in which is scored 2.79. Replays of SNME will be shown on NBC this Tuesday as will SNME on Tuesday night at 4pm. Saturday Night's Main Event will be shown on The Score in Canada after RAW tomorrow night. - As mentioned before, Ron Killings is scheduled to return to the WWE on its SmackDown brand under the character of R-Truth. R-Truth has a background of spending time in prison for ten years, and is expected to debut this Friday night on SmackDown. He will most likely enter a mini-feud with Carlito to start off his run in the WWE and is expected to be United States Champion by the time 2009 comes around. - Expect us to show you footage of SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 shown right from IGN.com. The original trailer was shown last March, telling us that this game has improved the tag team match type, it is also - as shown on IGN.com yesterday - going to feature the debut of the Inferno match in a WWE game. The last game to feature this option was the mediocre Acclaim game, ECW Anarchy Rulz back in 2000. - It is unconfirmed who will win the Hell in a Cell match next week at SummerSlam. If Edge wins then he will most likely enter a feud with Vickie Guerrero and La Familia, who will most likely bring in Big Show as the main heel, Undertaker will probably return to becoming the American Badass though that is unlikely. However if Undertaker wins, Edge will be absent from WWE Television for a few months to return as a face, probably as an associate of Undertaker having earned respect for Taker. - Expect Hacksaw Jim Duggan to have one last feud. Duggan is aged 53. He will most likely retire before the year is out and so WWE have interest in giving him something to do rather than do the job, considering Duggan was the original Royal Rumble winner. Duggan will probably get involved with Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix's feud, then pulling into a rivalry with Santino. If Duggan does retire from wrestling before the plan goes to tuition, it is expected for Duggan to become a road agent. - Jake Hager will debut on the ECW brand this Tuesday night [well...Monday night for the live show - ECW is recorded] and will most likely get the Bobby Lashley treatment, or if you like the Kurt Angle treatment. WWE management are impressed with him and will probably go as far as pushing him as a mid-carder on the ECW brand in an undefeated streak [like Angle]. - Jesse and Festus could possibly become inactive as an in-ring tag team duo. It could be that Festus will turn into a singles competitor as Jesse may join the RAW brand in the 'New Generation' stable that has been planned. That may not happen though, also keep in mind that the tag team division on all three brands are pretty abandoned, so all they need is more teams. - It could turn out that RAW, ECW and SmackDown's tag team divisions could end up as a whole interpromotional group, since ECW doesn't need a tag team division really. Or WWE are expected to increase the number of active tag teams. Management are going as far as planning a new talent exchange with ECW and SmackDown in order to revitalise the Tag Team division. - Montel Vontanious Porter will be getting a push, most likely ending up also on the ECW brand as the 'invader'.
