Kara: What the hell was that in there?
Trace: How the hell am I meant to know?
Moments ago we were interviewing a member of the Disciples, trying to get information on other members of the cult, but as soon as I mentioned my name the guy freaked, called me a monster and I have no idea why.
Kara: Does he know something about you that I don’t?
Trace: I think he may know something about me that not even I know.
Kara: You’re not making any sense.
My sight goes blurry, and suddenly I can’t stand anymore. I can feel myself falling to the floor, the wind softly grazing my face as I fall through space and time. Everything goes black and the last thing I can hear is Kara shouting.
Kara: Trace, Trace! Somebody get the medics, we need help over here…
-----------------------------
My eyes slowly open, my sights blurry and it takes a few minutes to adjust. I look around quickly, trying to spot for any recognizable signs of where I am.
The only thing I do know is that this place is either a church, or really looks like one. The walls are old and wooden, and the roof stands tall above me. There are pews arranged in long rows, which give very little leg room, why anyone would want to sit in them is anyone’s guess.
Voice: It’s a church, a place of worship.
Great, I thought that maybe I had left you behind.
Voice: Nope, I’m not going anywhere.
I can hear voices coming from outside the large wooden doors that are situated to the left of me. The voices get closer but I cant make out what they are talking about.
Voice: Shouldn’t we get out of sight.
Right, good idea. I quickly move to the far end of the church, away from the door and out of sight. I duck down behind a pew, my back pressing against the hard wood behind me. The large wooden door pushes open, but I cant tell how many people have walked in.
?: So Marcus, are you telling me that this boy nearly killed one of our men?
Marcus: Yes Mr. Pryce, that is exactly what I am saying.
I peer around the corner, and look at the two men who have just entered. The man called Marcus is wearing a grey suit, he is the younger of the two men, probably in his late twenty’s. His face seems tight, as if he doesn’t want to be here. The other one, Pryce, looks much sterner, his suit is black and his hair is slicked back. His eyes are hidden behind black glasses. There is very little expression in his face.
Pryce: Well that is a worrying situation, isn’t it?
Marcus: It’s more than worrying sir; you said we could handle this child, that we could contain his anger.
Pryce: And we can, it is just going to take a little more time than originally expected.
Marcus is looking worried now, and I can tell from here that he is getting frustrated with the one called Pryce.
Voice: Who are they talking about?
How in the hell am I meant to know.
Voice: I don’t know, this is your memory.
What?
Marcus: Time, we don’t have time, the Disciples don’t want him there, a number of them saw what happened, and they are worried sir.
Pryce: What happened to Robert was a setback. That is all, if they did not want anything to do with this then they should not have gotten involved in the first place.
Wait, Robert, that’s the name of the man who I and Kara interviewed, the one who went nuts in the interview room.
Voice: Do you think that it is the same guy.
Marcus: Sir, we cant take the risk of the boy finding out what really happened.
Pryce: Why would he find out Marcus, the Organization is the only one that knows the truth?
Marcus: What if he finds the files sir, what if he finds the Organization’s base of operations.
Pryce: He wont, we have undertaken precautions, the Organization is moving the base that you speak of to a small town in the Nevada desert, he will never find it.
Pryce begins to walk out, still the same expressionless man that he was when he entered into here.
Marcus: But sir…
Pryce doesn’t turn, he just speaks in the same confident business like voice he had when he started.
Pryce: Listen, Project Trace Demon must continue, if you do anything to hinder it then you will be disposed off. You are expendable.
Project Trace Demon! What the hell is he talking about, has me entire life been a fake, run by some organization?
Suddenly my vision goes again, and I am gone, back to the realm of the living.
-----------------------------
I open my eyes to see Kara’s staring back down at me.
Kara: Finally you’re awake. What happened to you?
I look up at her, and rise from the medical bed I have been placed on.
Trace: How soon can you get me to the Nevada Desert?
Trace: How the hell am I meant to know?
