I thought this would be a pretty interesting thing to discuss. Most of us here have collection, some have gone as far as showing theirs to members and its often people say nice collection whilst sometimes people think the collection is average or subpar due to size. So i pose the question, is bigger always better when it comes to collections? I personally think no. For some things (such as a completionist its fine) but others i dont think it always is. I reckon as the collection gets bigger, you tend to appreciate your figure less. So what do you think? And im sure someone will take it that way but no the title isnt a double meaning.

me personaly now i kinda regret getting soo many figs .It's harder now to re sell them just to get rid of them.To make space for newer figs or what not.I will keep though a hand full of some of my favorites.

I collect people I like. Not people I don't like.

I prefer quality over quantity, especially when viewing other's collections.
However, I occasionally fall into a habit of wanting to own a variety of figures, so my collection naturally grows and it sometimes bothers me with how much I spend on collecting each month/year. I'm not a completist, but I'm close enough to being one when it comes to the BCA, BNB, and CSDA lines of Jakks figures. Everything else I usually only buy my favorites or debut figures to fill in my collection.

"Bigger is always better" probably depends on the collector himself. Like you said, for completists, bigger is better since they've got no choice anyway - their collection is definitely get bigger since there's always new figs coming out. Whether they like it or not, their collection's going to get bigger.
Now for some, "big" means collection which has their preferred or target wrestlers. Like for some it may be all of Mysterios, Jerichos ( like Warheart ), Rock ( like Wrestleholic ), etc. For them, that's a big collection. When I see a collection which has ALL of the figures of a particular wrestler, that's big for me and very impressive too. So I guess it depends on each one's point of view.
Some are completists, some are wrestler-specific collectors, some prefer quality over quantity, some want both quality & quantity. Depends on their passion I guess.

My collection is BNB series 1 - 5, MSJ Bret Hart, an Undertaker part-swap, Kevin Thorn part swap, TTL5 Undertaker, TNA8 James Mitchel, DA14 MVP, CS21 Jericho and my Kendrick collection which is RA25, TT6, AD20?, DA14 and the Wal-Mart Belt Pack Kendricks. I don't really want to expand my collection much more than that.

I think that it depends a lot on how it is displayed, I'll admit that mine has some flaws in this area, but I am working on it. I have a few main categories, which makes the figures more appealing to look at, but the doubles are sort of thrown into their own area, which can make my collection look like a mess sometimes.

Quality, not quantity.

Bigger definitely is not always better. I'd prefer a small selection of rare figures to a huge quantity of commons any day.

I don't think bigger is better to be honest, I collect the CS line and soon the CSDA line also and thats it, I think I have around 80 CS figs that I have slowly collected over the last 2-3 years, yes it's small but I love it.

When it applies to the matter of collections, size is a very unimportant factor. Sure, a huge collection may seem impressive at a glance, but what gives a collection true value and depth is the quality of the items contained therein. For instance, say someone collects TTL series 1 Steve Austin figures. Well, they may have 200 TTL 1 SCSA figs MOC hanging on their wall and it would seem pretty impressive to see that many in one place, but once you consider what it is, it looses it's appeal.
A collection of any size needs depth to make it interesting. Think of it this way; coin collectors typically don't ONLY collect gold coins, stamp collectors don't collect ONLY 4 cent stamps, etc...

I prefer quality over quantity myself. I mean you can have a HUGE collection f common figures and then you can have a collection of a few, but very hard to find/sought after figures and I'd prefer to look at the lower, let higher quality collections.
But it comes down o the collector and what the goal is. If the person is jut collecting for the love of it, a smaller one is fine (plus they may not have the money to buy a lot of figures). However, if the person is a completion-ist, a larger collection is kind of expected.

I only get the figures that I like.... Space is very limited and I want to make sure I get to admire all my figures equally...

Bigger isn't always better, but I tend to collect as much as I can in the RA, DA, CS, and CSDA series. I can't stand BnB or Micros.

Ok everyone seems to be agreeing quality is better. Since everyone is factoring in rare sought after figures, how about we exclude that for a moment and think, how would a collection of 20 common RA's measure up against one of 100 common RA's. Is the 100 one a BETTER collection or is it not always the case?

Bigger is not ALWAYS better, but I am proud of my very large collection. I also like seeing very large collections i.e. STOM's. However buying every figure you can does not necessarily make your collection great. You have to weed out the crap.

I only collect the figures of wrestlers i like and remember. There are a few jobbers here and there but they serve a purpose when u have a ring set-up.
So that makes a lot of CS and RA. I also collect exclusives, limited editions, etc.
To each his/ her own.
