There are a ton of great games of the past, and since I am off work for about a week or so, and my shifts are from 10pm to 6am usually, I have a TON of time on my hands during the early mornings.
There are hardly any good games coming out for the newer systems and as in my last post about my Playstation collection beginning, I want to do something that is the opposite of what many other people are doing on the net and actually do some positive video gaming stuff. We have the Angry Video Game Nerd, we have Spoony the FF8 hater and many others who look at older games that are horrible and bash the living crap out of them.
This might not get well recieved here, but I don't care if you like how I write or not, these aren't reviews or anything. This is going to be pretty much me, telling you, how much certain games kick ass, and you should play them just by me revealing the title and not listen to anything of which I say below the actual cover art.
First off
Heart of Darkness

First off
Heart of Darkness
I really don't know when this game came out, all I remember is when I saw the trailer, I had to get my hands on it.
As a kid, or hell, even as an adult, the first thing that captures your interests are the games graphics. This game delivered graphics, I was seriously in awe when I first saw them, because at the time I had never seen a sidescrolling video game with Disney cgi-like quality. Oddly, the enemies remind me of something you would see on a game such as Kingdom Hearts.
The controls, the level design, the character models..were all awesome. There is nothing else I need to say. I don't want to analyze it all, so just take my word for it.
The only thing that pissed me off about this game was the difficulty. You know those games where you just want to pass a certian part. You keep trying and trying, you almost think you beat it, and just when you think you passed the part, something comes up and kills you.
That happens far to often in this game. I figured at one point, I would just throw my controller out the window, while still be connected to my ps1, hopefully dragging it along. I would hope the controller would hit my dog, just to hear it whine so I could get some comfort knowing that I had luck stored in me somewhere.
Don't get me wrong, I love pets and animals, but that is how pissed off this game gets you.
The most intersting part about this game beyond everything I mentioned in so little words, was the way they killed this poor kid. You'll see him get eaten/melted/burned/stomped/splattered/drown among many other things. That is another thing that just made this game so damn cool.
Anyway, look this game up. Download it even, hell just watch a cutscene and be happy that you are even hearing about it right now.
