Ok we all know that they both have their advantages and we all know that SNES could pwn the both of them so we have to make this official.
Sonic Vs. Mario Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter Etc.... etc...
which is better??
I will Say Genesis.
BTW: this does not count with the Sega CD or 32X Just regular Genesis.

I have a much bigger library with the NES than I do with the Genesis. I happen to own both and I never got a Sega CD or a 32X. When I got the Genesis, it was done. I'd say NES by a slight margin though the Genesis had some good games as well.

Genesis Doesssss what Nintendon't I loved my Mega Drive/ Genesis, had alot of great moments playing it in my Childhood, never really got to play the NES as much, not much of a Nintendo fan, after the NES Nintendo kept on doing the same thing over and over again.

Genesis. Definitely Genesis. I loved it when I was a kid, and still do. I just bought a new one last month at my local flea market, and I've been playing the crap out of it. Bitch is I have to get all the games over again, since my mom gave it away when I got a PS1.

NES. I own both, played the hell out of them as a kid, never bought into the fanboy business, so I'm unbiased here. When I think about both systems, NES sticks out in my head. Look at all the franchises that are still going today that originated on the NES. Metal Gear (although it's the bastardized version) had it's first run through the MSX and NES. Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Kid Icarus (oh, it's coming back), Mega Man, and a few others. A game as wonderful as Bubble Bobble was on the NES. Punch Out, Dr. Mario, Double Dribble, Snake Rattle & Roll, Commando, Ghosts N Goblins, Baseball...classics. Sega had quite a few great ones as well, including obvious ones like Sonic and Vectorman, and including not so obvious ones like Rocket Knight Adventures, Flicky, and Altered Beast. Genesis was great, but it was no NES in my opinion.

You guys know what was better than the Genesis AND the NES? The PC Engine/ Turbografx-16, completely blew the NES and Genesis out of the water in Japan, it had WAY better games, Better Graphics and better Arcade ports, It was the first to use CD Games, It used "Hu-Cards" ( Credit Card sized Cartridges ) instead of those Big bulky NES and Genesis Carts and was the first to have a Multi tap.

I grew up on the Genesis, so naturally I'd have to vote for that.

I loved them both but I'm going to go with the Genesis for the fact that it was far superior to the NES when it came out, AND it was able to hold it's own against both the NES and the SNES for quite a few years. Man I wish game generations last as long now as they did back then.
