Does it bother anyone else that your videos get taken down for using music that you paid for? Every song I have ever used in a video I've made was available to me for one reason: I purchased the CD. I paid $9.99, $12.99, what ever, and that's why the music is even on my computer.
It bothers me that I've had a video taken down for using the music. I totally understand that it belongs to some one else, but hear me out:
I'm not profiting off of this. It' Youtube. It's all in good, creative fun.
I am more than ok with advertisements for the record label being plastered on my videos, thats perfectly fair. But to take my video down so it is unviewable? That's bullcrap.
Thoughts?

It's super annoying. I noticed most of the major label accounts won't let you post it anywhere. I absolutely hate it.

They do it because people can rip the video and extract it as just an audio file. Therefore, they can have the song without paying for it.
Makes sense really...

The worst part about that is the ripped quality is absolutely terrible. Am I the only one who is deeply annoyed by music that is greatly below CD quality?

I buy all of my music, so all of my stuff is top quality. And, come on, do you think people are getting their music for free from Youtube? Limewire, Torrents, all that crap is where they get ed.

It's rather annoying.. I posted a video with 3 different songs by 3 completely different people and the all got deleted in 5 seconds and my account was deleted..
And now it's getting even worse as it seems every song in the world is not Youtube worthy..

I have friends who make youtube videos for a living and they are making 6-figure salaries from youtube to make their videos. So some people are making money off youtube.
But yeah, I don't buy music. I take the youtube URL, rip the audio track from the video and that's how I get my music.

YouTube needs to back off and just have fun. What I hate is a music video I want to post on a forum, can't be played because it's embedded usage as been disabled, ing bull****.

So being forced to protect a companies intellectual properties is what makes them sellouts? Not the whole "selling themselves to Google for over a billion dollars" thing?

These archaic laws will eventually be eradicated to some degree. There's a definite revision in need, at least. I couldn't tell you how many bands I got into (and later spent hundreds of dollars on) because somebody used them somewhere in a video or during the credit roll. They want to regulate how people hear music, and that's just despicable. Give proper credit to the artist so people can check out their work. Make it mandatory - I'm 100% fine with that and actually make it a personal policy of mine when making videos. Now people are going to be afraid to even credit the artist because the video will get pulled for even mentioning the name. It's sort of counter-productive. And what's the ing deal with music videos being pulled? ISN'T THE POINT OF A MUSIC VIDEO TO SELL THE ALBUM!? Isn't it a vehicle for advertisement? I really have a hard time grasping the logic of record labels sometimes. Fans are practically bending over backwards trying to advertise their favorite band and the management/record label are punishing them for all the free advertising.

Yeah, it's pretty lame.
I've been uploading a bunch of trailers and they recently took one down for objectional content. It was just a horror movie with a 4 second shot of boobs. I don't get it, I can see a pregnant girl milking herself but I can't show boobs for a few seconds.

I noticed this a few month ago when I wanted to see the video "Only" by NIN. I just sat there waiting for the opening drum beat for almost a minute

Even if you did buy the CD. Your violating the terms of service for use of said CD. Since it is for private/home listening. By putting it on Youtube, you are using for a public audience. In which case you have to pay for the rights to the song based upon the audience. It may sounds stupid to you, but it's the law.

My video was taken down a while ago and i didn't realise at all. Then i saw this notification that my audio wasn't allowed.
So i picked a song that's allowed on youtube.

The only way to fix this problem is for youtube to come out with royalty free music libraries for their video makers. They could hire young muscians to make tunes and songs exclusive for video making and make it free for the public.
Screw the greedy musicans, there are young people out there with creative minds that would love to make instrumentals, tunes etc for a website like youtube.
