I really, really like the cast. I'm not a big fan of the Stooges, but I may actually check out this movie, just for the cast. Jim Carrey in it makes me happy.

Jim Carrey, no matter how fat, won't look like Curly.

I cant doubt Carrey's acting ability in comedy at all, so I trust him in the role, but last i seen Carey, i dont know how 40 pounds will make him any closer to the visual of Curley. Sean Penn wont be bad a larry and ive never heard of this Del Toro dude? Surely you've read one of my world famous RPs?

So I guess I am the only one who thinks this is terrible and will avoid the movie like the plague?
Why don't we start recasting all of the great comedic teams? Laurel & Hardy? Abbott & Costello? Martin & Lewis? Hell, why don't we recast all of Monty Python's Flying Circus?
What the hell is wrong with Hollywood? Not only do they have to rip off other country's ideas and rip off older films, but now they have to rape the accomplishments of comedy groups from the 30's?

I agree 100%, plus the fact that two of the actors cast are not comedians, but actors. I feel that is a piss in the face to their legacy as comedians.

I love the Three Stooges so I hope this isn't terrible. Sounds like it has a little potential though

I'm honestly amazed that they got such great names to sign on.

I don't think making a movie about the three stooges is doing anything else other than introducing the stooges to a brand new audience. I mean lets be serious here, this thread only has 20 something comments... when news broke out about a f***ing dragonball z movie that thing had like 5 pages worth of comments.. So I see nothing wrong with this movie. I'm sure people had a problem with Man on the Moon at first too until they saw the movie. Just give it a chance..

I think Carrey was the perfect choice for Curly. If he even puts in HALF the effort he did for 'Man on the Moon' then it'll be amazing!
I'm a little iffy about del Toro and Penn as Moe and Larry though. I guess we'll see. Penn I'm not as worried about...he's pretty versatile.

Why not just show them to this new generation. I mean, slapstick comedy is pretty universally funny. If Penn, Carrey, and Del Toro were seriously banding together to create a comedy group, fine. But they aren't. The 3 Stooges was a Vaudevillian act of 2 brothers and a friend that became wildly successful. Those aforementioned actors are just being cast by a studio. Why not come up with a new name instead of rip off an old act they or anyone else involved had nothing to do with? Let's put it this way... as talented a ball player as Alexander Rodriguez is, if he legally changed his name to Babe Ruth that would kind of piss you off a little, wouldn't it?

Sean Penn will make a good Larry. I had my doubts until I did this. Also he did go all the way and went full tard in I am Sam. A little something I put together.

Ha! That sounds great. I can totally see Penn as Larry. Just weird that he would take such a role.

Penn can do comedy.
