I don't think Pantera are THAT good. I mean sure they've made some classic songs but i'd take a LOG, Slayer, CC, Deicide album anyday over a Pantera one.

I never understand why it is so imperative for metal fans to make this exact same post every two months where everyone makes their lists of favorite metal bands and then of course someone responds with "omigod like werz da pantera dood they rok so hard omg" and so on and so forth.
Don't get me wrong, I love teh metalz but like, do we really have to represent our respective style of music by consistently bragging about which bands we like and criticize others for the bands that they don't?
FEAR FACTORY RULZ OMG

I listen to a lot of metal, but not exclusively. Current favorite band is probably Mastodon, really dig the new CD. I saw them live, there not very good. Great clear music, but don't really interact....at all.

FEAR FACTORY RULZ OMG What is the point of a forum if we aren't going to discuss these kinds of things. I mean, I know I have never personally noticed a thread just like this one until today... There is nothing wrong with this thread and hell, as long as it is all a healthy debate or discussion then there will be nothing wrong with this thread. We are all mature here, there is no need to go causing trouble or bashing other people's favorite bands.

To an extent. I do enjoy my fair share of metal. My favorite metal album of all-time would probably have to be Megadeth's Cryptic Writings.

I'm more an old school metal fan. Like Ozzy, Sabbath, Poison, Van Halen, Crue, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Priest, etc. Basically early metal through the glam rock/hair metal stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I do like some current metal stuff, but I'm mostly an old-school guy. Working for a classic rock radio station probably helps.
Oh, and Metallica is my favorite band in the history of ever. I'm going to see them in concert for the first time ever this fall and I don't think I could possibly be a higher level of stoked.

Saw Napalm Death last weekend in my home town. Have a tattoo with Nuclear Assault, Testament, Anthrax, Vio-lence, and Exodus artwork. Yeah, I like metal.
Essentials for me: Black Sabbath Judas Priest Anthrax Demolition Hammer Nuclear Assault Suffocation Master Death Obituary Possessed Destruction Kreator Sodom Bolt Thrower Napalm Death Nasum Rotten Sound Jigsore Terror Vio-Lence Slayer old Metallica Sepultura Testament Exodus Prong Neurosis
mm-mm good.
And, for the record. Exhorder's "Desecrator" does the "Pantera" sound better than Pantera ever did Pantera.

Good point, i mean i like all the Cannibal Corpse albums, while you like pantera, so it depends of your music style.
