19:30-19:30 - The opening segment airs to get us hyped up for the upcoming show ahead, showing us memorable moments in professional wrestling, from National Wrestling Alliance to the Monday Night Wars, Hulkamania and to today's current roster of performers.
-
19:30-19:34 - A video package reviews us of the history of the Royal Rumble event, starting in 1988 with Jim Duggan winning, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair winning, before it turned to controversy in such events as the 1994 edition, when Bret Hart and Lex Luger both were pronounced as Co-Winners of the Rumble. It showed us how it made careers, like Shawn Michaels at 1996, and Stone Cold Steve Austin in 1998. It showed Vince McMahon winning it in 1999, showing the return of a true superstar, Triple H winning in 2002, and how it fulfilled a journey, like Chris Benoit in 1994. It hyped up the four-corner elimination match for the World Heavyweight Championship as well as the WWE Championship match, also.
-
19:34-19:36 - We go to the live arena as pyrotechnics go off and the audience cheer loudly, Michael Cole and Tazz as well as Joey Styles and Jerry Lawler welcoming us to the nineteenth annual Royal Rumble, running down the card.

19:36-19:49 -
Kid Kash defeated Paul London & Juventud to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship This was a solid match-up, as Paul London and Juventud walked into this contest from being in a tag team and a faction, respectively. Surely it would of been awkward if London had won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and seen Brian Kendrick again. Juventud was all over Paul London here, as he should be, London costing Juventud his title shot last Friday night on SmackDown, afterall. Paul London did alot of acrobatics too, and sided with Kid Kash in taking out Juventud. London almost had the title at several points also, as London nailed a sound standing moonsault on Kash, but for a VERY near fall. Kid Kash tried to weasel out of the picture, waiting around at ringside in the early goings of this match and watch London and Juvi go at it. Kash hit a Frog Splash on Juvi. That actually got a decent pop from the audience, believe it or not. London hit a Shooting Star Press aswell, Juvi also clashed with London. Only now I realise that both men use a 450 splash as a finishing move. Haha. Juvi Driver got a two on Kash, but then London hit a hurricanrana, sending Juvi into the canvas, but when connected with his 450 splash, London ran into Kash, who proceeded in landing London with a Dead Level! Kash covered and that was it.

19:49-19:51 - Kid Kash began to celebrate with his retained WWE Cruiserweight Championship, as he headed back up the aisleway.
-
19:51-19:52 - We see Edge arrive in the backstage area as he has Lita on his arm, the WWE Championship over his shoulder. He talks about tonight, facing Triple H, Lita reassuring Edge that he'd do good tonight against him, and that John Cena will pay if he gets involved.
-
19:52-19:53 - We go to the backstage area as we see Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro warming up for their match against Bobby Lashley and Matt Hardy, tonight, Nitro saying to Mercury that he can't believe that Theodore Long could do this to them without informing them. Mercury says it doesn't matter, because if they can beat Batista and Rey Mysterio, they can easily beat Batista's wannabe, Bobby Lashley.
-
19:53-19:54 - We go to some clips from WWE Heat, last Sunday as Victoria beat Mickie James to contend for the WWE Womens Championship match, also showing Victoria pin Mickie last Monday night, on RAW in a tag team match.
-
19:54-20:05 -
Victoria defeated Trish Stratus with Mickie James to win the WWE Womens Championship This was a solid match here, between two of the more experienced divas in the WWE womens division. Mickie James accompanied Trish Stratus to the ring, no Ashley to be seen, selling the injuries from last Monday night, getting the baseball slide in the face from Victoria. Victoria worked over Trish as Stratus managed to keep on top of her in the early goings of the bout, but Victoria eventually took down Trish and worked over her hand, the hand she broke in 2004. Trish struggled as Victoria tried to shapeshift the hand of the WWE Womens Champion manually. Victoria slammed it into the ring canvas numerous times as well as stomping on it, sandwiching it between Victoria's boot and the steel steps. Trish managed to fight back, however, hitting the Chick Kick on Victoria only for the challenger to shockingly kickout. Victoria then went to jump Trish from behind but Trish ducked, and Victoria clotheslined the referee through the ropes. Trish nailed the Stratusfaction on Victoria, but Mickie James dragged Trish off of the cover!? Trish looked shocked as Mickie looked upset, leaving the ring and heading up the aisle. Trish went to cover again, but Victoria rolled her up in a cradle for the win!
**3/4
-
20:05-20:08 - Victoria celebrated and rolled out of the ring as the referee handed her the WWE Womens Championship, Victoria heading back up the aisleway, having just won the title! Trish glared at her in utter shock and anger.
-
20:08-20:11 - We go to the backstage area as Vince McMahon, Jonathan Coachman and Theodore Long are all seen discussing this year's Royal Rumble match, as a lottery bowl was shown in front of them, the door being heard slamming as in pranced the 'Heartbreak Kid', Shawn Michaels! Vince hid behind Coach, asking why he's here when he knows that tonight, he's scheduled the number one entry! HBK says he knows, but he wants to know what the hell this discrimination against him, has been about as of late. Shawn is interrupted however, as Randy Orton storms in, Orton telling Shawn it's been a longtime, no-see. Orton asks Shawn why he's so special, and why he thinks he has a chance being entrant number one AGAIN in the Royal Rumble match tonight. Shawn walks out as Orton laughs with Vince, shaking the Chairman's hand, as he selects a number, going to open it, but saying he'll wait until the time is right to open his number-ball.
-
20:11-20:24 -
MNM with Melina defeated Bobby Lashley and Matt Hardy to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships This was an awesome match-up, here as it was only announced forty-eight hours ago on SmackDown, and the audience were all hyped up for it, to say the least. Bobby Lashley and Johnny Nitro started things off, as Nitro attempted to play it cool and overpower Lashley, only to fail, as Lashley easily mammothed Nitro in the early goings of the contest, as Joey Mercury got the tag, joining Nitro in failure, as Lashley once again overpowered Joey in a wrist-lock, tagging in Matt Hardy, who continued the armbars and submissions based on the arm. Matt hit a nice northern-lights suplex, but that didn't manage to put Mercury away, continuing the offense as the match began to quicken up in pace, Hardy going to run off of the ropes, only to get a knee in his spine from the illegal man, Nitro. Mercury and Nitro then worked over the spine of Hardy, competing with a slow style, isolating Matt Hardy away from the powerhouse, Lashley. Nitro hit an amazing standing moonsault, he's really athletic, more than made out to be. He's improving well in the ring, got to admit. Matt eventually reversed a toe kick to the gut into a Side Effect, finally tagging in Bobby Lashley. Lashley rushed in, delivering spinebusters, spears and clotheslines all around. Lashley went to finish off Mercury with a Dominator, but Melina dragged Mercury outside of the ring. Johnny Nitro then came from behind Lashley, springboarding off of the middle rope and kicking Lashley RIGHT in the face! Both Nitro and Mercury covered for the win!
***1/4
-
20:24-20:28 - Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro celebrated big-time, having just overcame Bobby Lashley cleanly. Melina joined them in the ring, handing her boys their well-deserved WWE Tag Team Championship belts. Matt Hardy then came from behind, slamming the two Hollywood boys' heads together, sending both men dazed. Lashley got back up as he speared both men, sending them out of the ring, Lashley then grabbing the annoying valet, Melina! Lashley picked Melina up and gorilla pressed her over the top rope onto her boys, MNM as Lashley and Hardy stood tall!
-
20:28-20:31 - We go to the backstage area as Jonathan Coachman and Theodore Long are competing in a verbal argument over who is going to win tonight's Royal Rumble event. The scene then gets dark as red smoke covers the scene. The light returns as The Boogeyman is seen, making Coach comically jump over the top rope. Teddy laughs as Boogeyman sings 'I'll be your hero' in his scary, intimidating voice. Boogeyman picks the number, saying that the Boogeyman is coming to get all twenty-nine win, and bring victory back...to the Bottomless Pit.
-
20:31-20:34 - A video package airs, recapping Edge cashing in Money in the Bank, three weeks ago at New Year's Revolution, celebrating the next night with a Live Sex Celebration. But John Cena interfered in the show of public intercourse, then Triple H becoming involved, HHH and Cena brawling as Edge and Lita looked intimidated on the rampway. It shows a contenders match, then, the next week, as Triple H managed to put away John Cena to get a title shot at the Royal Rumble! We see the Royal Rumble Demonstration then as Triple H and Edge eliminated each other, Triple H proceeding in tossing the WWE Champion off of the stage to the floor! The WWE Championship match is up next.
-
20:34-20:58 -
Edge with Lita defeated Triple H by disqualification to retain the WWE Championship This was an awesome match-up here, got to be one of the best WWE Championship matches in the history of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view series. Triple H and Edge had an intense staredown to kick off the show, both men staring each other down for numerous minutes before grappling, Edge trying to take down the challenger, but the 'Cerebral Assassin' refusing to quit, Triple H firing back with numerous lefts-and-right. Edge began to try some offensive moves, like nailing a good DDT and keeping Triple H down, which he did manage to do, Edge stayed on top of Triple H as much as possible over the next few minutes, managing to try and re-injure the quadricep muscle of the 'Game'. Triple H wrived in pain as Edge continued to pull on the muscle, applying his old submission move, the Edgecator, and that made Triple H look like he was on the verge of tapping out. Seriously. Triple H however, he began to fight back against the 'Rated R Superstar'. Edge nailed an Edgecution, and covered, but Triple H managed to kick out before the three count! Edge nailed another Edgecution! Triple H managed to kick out once again. Triple H refused to go down here, at all. Triple H fired back, Edge going for his Spear, only getting a spinebuster from the 'Cerebral Assassin'. Triple H hit a DDT and it looked like he was preparing for the Pedigree, but Edge dropped Triple H over the top rope to the floor! Edge was given a breather, as he remained on the canvas to get some air. John Cena was then seen rushing down to the ring, as he rushed into the ring and slammed Edge with an FU right in front of the referee!
***3/4
-
20:58-21:03 - Edge rolled out of the ring, Lita attending to her husband, Edge, the WWE Championship with her, as the two backed up the aisleway. Triple H looked back in the ring at John Cena, roaring before rushing into the ring and trading blows with the cocky Cena! Triple H and Cena fought for numerous minutes before many officials broke them up.
-
21:03-21:05 - Peter Gabriel's song, "Big-Time" played, hyping WrestleMania 22, live on pay-per-view on Sunday 2nd April 2006, from Chicago, Illinois!
-
21:05-21:08 - A video package airs, starting back at the time of Batista being forced to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship, three weeks ago on SmackDown as Theodore Long made a four-corner elimination match for the vacant title at Royal Rumble. It showed Rey Mysterio qualify by beating Randy Orton; John Bradshaw Layfield beating Matt Hardy & Mark Henry qualifying automatically for the event. It then showed Chris Benoit join them in the match, winning a battle royal. The World Heavyweight Championship four-corner elimination match is up next!
-
21:08-21:30 -
Rey Mysterio defeated Chris Benoit, Mark Henry & John Bradshaw Layfield to win the World Heavyweight Championship This was a solid match-up here, as it involved alot of intensity, setting up for this epic match, where a new World Heavyweight Champion would definately be announced. Mark Henry and John Bradshaw Layfield seemed to be in an alliance, as did Rey Mysterio and Chris Benoit, both duos managing to block the odds of one of their temporary teammates being eliminated. Rey Mysterio used quickness to try and cut down Mark Henry and JBL, whereas Benoit managed to use his stiff offense and chops to try and cut into the opposition. Benoit succeeded in doing so by hitting a drop-toe-hold on Mark Henry, sending him into the middle rope, Benoit applying the Crossface there and then! Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio set up for the 619, but Mark Henry didn't get hit...Benoit did! JBL nailed him with a Clothesline From Hell to eliminate
Chris Benoit! Chris Benoit looked pissed as Rey Mysterio looked distraught on the apron, Mysterio springboarding at both men, managing to play a game of cat-and-mouse with the larger opponents. Mysterio eventually tricked JBL and Henry, as JBL went to nail Rey with the Clothesline From Hell, but Rey ducked and JBL nailed Mark Henry! Mark Henry got retribution for JBL's apparent betrayal with a World's Strongest Slam to eliminate
John Bradshaw Layfield! Finally, Rey Mysterio ran from Henry, managing to do so as Rey used a page out of the late, great Eddie Guerrero's book, grabbing a chair, clocking Mark Henry with it, then pretending to be hurt. Mark Henry went to splash Rey, but he moved, Rey then hit a springboard moonsault for the shocking win!

21:30-21:33 - Rey Mysterio began to celebrate with his newly won World Heavyweight Championship, as he had finally won the big one! Rey pointed up at the heavens, to Eddie Guerrero, as he celebrated with the title! But what Rey didn't know is that Chris Benoit was not happy, as he was shaking his head at a monitor in the backstage area...

The 2006 Royal Rumble
Shawn Michaels and
Carlito were the first two entrants in this year's Royal Rumble spectacular, as both man traded blows in the early goings of this match. Carlito tossed Michaels numerous times, but the 'Heartbreak Kid' managed to cling on.
Paul Burchill was the number three entrant, as despite being midcard material on the SmackDown brand, he really disassembled the decent chemistry that Shawn Michaels and Carlito were having. He tried to join Carlito in tossing HBK over, but once again, he was unable to succeed. Carlito and Burchill ended up brawling.
Gregory Helms was the number fourth entrant in this match, as he ran in there and started off fantastically, nailing a Shining Wizard on Shawn Michaels, then taking down Carlito with some nice flying forearms. Burchill cut him off by connecting with a face-first suplex.
Psicosis of The Mexicools was the fifth entrant into the bout, as he ran in there and took down Gregory Helms, trying to toss him out, only to no avail.
Paul Burchill was the first man to be eliminated, as Shawn Michaels delivered a big back body drop, sending him out.
Orlando Jordan was the sixth entrant in the Royal Rumble, he came out with a brand new look, now wearing tights in red and dark red, shiny flourescent blend. Jordan seemed to fight differently also, he went after Gregory Helms. Assume he's turned face now.
Viscera was the seventh entrant into the match, the biggest man in the ring at the moment, as he came in there slowly, and took out everybody there was, giving Shawn Michaels a Samoan drop, and Psicosis a big splash. Carlito continued to fight in there, hitting a Backcracker on Jordan.
Chavo Guerrero was the eighth entrant. He now represents the SmackDown as of last Friday, he went in there with some steam, clotheslining
Carlito shockingly over the top rope, making him the second man to be eliminated! Everybody in the match then went after Viscera.
Randy Orton was suprisingly the ninth entrant. Orton went in there and managed to join Shawn Michaels, Gregory Helms, Orlando Jordan, Psicosis and Chavo Guerrero in eliminate
Viscera, the third man to be eliminated from the 2006 Royal Rumble so far.
Finlay was the tenth entrant, he debuted on Friday night, defeating Scotty 2 Hotty. He didn't do alot, but he blended in with the scene, brawling with Chavo Guerrero for the next few minutes. Meanwhile, Randy Orton continued from earlier on tonight, beginning to wrestle with Shawn Michaels in a corner.
Shelton Benjamin was the eleventh entrant. He went in there and immediately went after Chavo Guerrero, for some reason. Probably has to do with the fact Benjamin and Chavo fought on RAW this past Monday night. Benjamin almost eliminated Chavo, but Finlay began to fight Shelton, cementing Finlay as a tweener in this match.
Kane was the twelve entrant. He went in there and nailed Psicosis and Gregory Helms with seperate chokeslams before tossing
Orlando Jordan over the top rope, making him the fourth man eliminated. Kane went for Shawn Michaels also, but HBK managed to jump out of a chokeslam courtesy of the 'Big Red Monster', knocking him out with Sweet Chin Music.
Funaki was the thirteenth entrant. Oh boy. He didn't really last long, nor did he do anything to note. Shawn Michaels gave Funaki some punches, back on some adrenaline following the Sweet Chin Music on Kane. He got in a punch on everybody in the ring, to be honest. Shelton then took him out with a T-Bone Suplex.
William Regal was the fourteenth man in the match, as he ran into the ring and got involved with Shelton Benjamin, then going after Shawn Michaels, following HBK's elimination of his partner, Paul Burchill, earlier on in the match. Regal used some deadly uppercuts, love his brute style. Him and Finlay had a faceoff, before getting involved in some very harsh brawling.
Funaki was the fifth man eliminated from the match, as Kane tossed him out.
Rosey was the fifteenth entrant in the match, as he came out once again wearing gangsta clothes. I'm liking this new look on the part of Rosey, honestly. His name puts me off, though. Him and Kane exchanged blows. That's what makes him so enjoyable in this gimmick, he's believable.
Psicosis got tossed out by Randy Orton, making him the sixth man in the match to be eliminated.
Super Crazy was conveniently the sixteenth man to enter the match. He came out, did a hispanic handshake with Mexicools partner, Psicosis, and then entered the ring, entering the ring and walking into a little brawl with Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin and Finlay battled, as Finlay showed to be in there for himself.
Rosey got powered out by Kane and Randy Orton, odd combination I know. He was the seventh man to be eliminated.
Rob Van Dam made his return as the seventeenth participant. He rushed into the ring and got a huge reaction, taking out
Gregory Helms immediately! Helms looked really pissed, being the eighth man to be eliminated, then throwing a fit at ringside, as RVD did his thumbs taunt. Van Dam then got involved in a brawl with Shelton Benjamin.
Scotty 2 Hotty was scheduled to appear as the eighteenth superstar in the match, but Grgeory Helms took him out, knocking him down and out with a Shining Wizard! Wow, two years in a row. Bad luck for Scotty. Kane and Shawn Michaels began to brawl again.
Big Show was the nineteenth entrant in the match. He came in there and started off big, delivering a thunderous Chokeslam on Shelton Benjamin, and William Regal. Show and Kane united against Shawn Michaels, but luckily, Rob Van Dam was there to assist the 'Heartbreak Kid' against the two big mammoths.
Brian Kendrick was the twentieth participant. He did pretty good here, managing to use his quick agility against everybody he saw. Meanwhile, Shelton Benjamin unevened things for Shawn Michaels and Rob Van Dam, managing to form a little alliance with Kane and Big Show.
Finlay was eliminated by William Regal, making him the tenth man to be eliminated.
Booker was the twenty-first superstar in there. He came out in jeans, being rebellious following his worked shoot this past Friday on SmackDown. He easily tossed out
Super Crazy, the eleventh man to be eliminated.
Val Venis was the twenty-second member in this match. He ran in there and seemed pretty lost, but he managed to fit in with the crowd of superstars in there. He assisted Chavo Guerrero in tossing out the twelveth man to be tossed out,
William Regal.
John Cena was the twenty-third man of the match. He rushed into the ring to a mixed reaction, trading his sloppy lefts and rights with Kane and Shawn Michaels, just to name a few. He picked up
Val Venis and FU'ed him over the top rope, causing him to be the thirteenth man eliminated.
Rob Conway was the twenty-fourth entrant in the bout. He ran in and ran at John Cena, only to get tossed out over the other side! Sixteenth man to be eliminated, Conway threw a fit at ringside, embarrassingly. Booker T continued to brawl with the cruiserweights, like Brian Kendrick and Chavo Guerrero, as Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam traded fists.
Ric Flair was the twenty-fifth participant, the 1992 winner of the Royal Rumble, may I add. He went in there and managed to fight off the likes of Kane and Big Show. He got in a slugfest with Shelton Benjamin. Benjamin must want the WWE Intercontinental Championship back.
Chavo Guerrero got dumped over the top by Booker T, he's the seventeenth man to be eliminated.
Eugene was the twenty-sixth member of the match. He didn't do anything to note, but instead,
Eugene got dumped out by Big Show, the eighteenth man eliminated from this contest.
The Undertaker was shockingly the twenty-seventh participant. We haven't seen him since Armageddon, but he went in there, wasted no time, and got in a staring contest with his brother, Kane. Taker and Kane began to trade blows, Big Show getting involved only for John Cena to block him off! Taker clotheslined
Kane over the top rope, making him the nineteenth man eliminated!
Chris Masters was the twenty-eighth member of the match. He went in there and applied the Master Lock on The Undertaker, but Booker T broke that up. Cena came from behind of Booker and picked him up, tossing him over the top rope with a backdrop position!
The Boogeyman was the twenty-ninth entrant, as he came in there, trying to creep everybody out. Epic failure. Undertaker chokeslammed him and then tossed him out, over the top rope. Fair dos.
Chris Masters and
Brian Kendrick were brawling, but Shelton Benamin came from behind, tossing both men over the top rope. The twentieth and twenty-first eliminated superstars of this match.
The Mystery Man was the thirtieth and final entrant, as Shawn Michaels had lasted over an hour, waiting for this very opportunity. The man wasted time wandering towards the ring. The man and Shawn Michaels traded blows, both men trading blows. Shawn Michaels nailed the Man with a good right hook, but he absorbed it, the man in black grabbing
Shawn Michaels with both hands and shoving him over the top rope!
Shawn Michaels landed on his feet, as he screamed out in anger, grabbing a chair from under the ring and rolling back into the ring and slamming it over the Mystery Man's head! Shawn shoved him over the top rope rapidly, slamming the Man over the head with the chair AGAIN and AGAIN! Michaels ripped off the Man's mask and it was
KEVIN NASH! Shawn looked shocked as Nash got back up, the two dissappearing up the aisleway! Seven men left, Big Show and John Cena brawled near the ropes. Orton and Ric Flair were brawling, whereas The Undertaker had Shelton Benamin in a dangerous place. Randy Orton seemed to be avoiding Taker, that was pretty comical. Big Show tried to eliminate Cena, Cena ducked his clothesline and Orton joined in, both men clotheslining
Big Show out of the ring.
Shelton Benjamin got chokeslammed out of the ring by The Undertaker, pretty harsh move, if I'm speaking honestly. Ric Flair and Orton then brawled in the central part of the ring before Orton hit a picture-perfect dropkick, sending Flair into the ropes. RVD sprung off of the top rope with a kick to
Ric Flair's temple as Cena clotheslined him over the top rope!
The Final Four: John Cena vs Randy Orton vs Rob Van Dam vs The Undertaker
John Cena and The Undertaker traded fists. Seemed very epic, for real. Meanwhile, Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam reversed move-after-move, both men trying to outwit the other men. Both teams of two took seperate corners, both trading fists. RVD thrusted into Orton's gut repeatedly, flipping backwards and they hitting his trademark monkey flip. Orton then got up, turned Cena around and planted him with an RKO! Taker grabbed Orton by the throat for a Chokeslam, but RVD shoved Orton into Taker, sending Taker into the corner. Cena and Orton traded fists however, as Taker gave RVD a big back body drop, sending
Rob Van Dam ALL THE WAY over the top to the floor! The Undertaker takes both Randy Orton and John Cena down with clotheslines. Taker nails the Snake Eyes on Orton before giving Orton an uppercut, going to toss Cena over the top rope, only for Orton to kick Taker in the crotch. Orton goes to toss Cena over the top, but he hangs on! Orton tries to punch Cena, to knock him off of the apron, but Cena thrusts Orton in the gut and jumps back into the ring, getting Orton on his shoulders in an FU position! Undertaker shoves Cena and Orton towards the ropes, Orton landing on the apron. Undertaker goes to knock him off but a tear appears in the canvas!
MICK FOLEY!, Foley jumps out of the hole and shoves him into the ropes, Cena delivering an FU over the top rope, eliminating
The Undertaker!Cactus Jack dissappears beneath the ring once again, as Randy Orton rolls back in under the ropes, John Cena and Randy Orton getting face-to-face. Orton and Cena lock up, as the audi e nce are split two ways, Cena slams Orton up against the corner, but Orton kicks Cena in the gut, and shoves him into the ropes! Cena lands on the apron as Orton gets dragged over onto the apron aswell! Orton and Cena struggle, a grip on the top rope, before Orton hits a risky RKO onto the ring apron! Cena falls off as Orton rolls back inside the ring!
Winner: Randy Orton ***1/4
