So I've come to realize I have all three gen. IV games for distinctly different reasons: Diamond is my cheat as much as possible game where I test out Action Replay codes and hack up all sorts of cool crap (let me know if you ever need TMs or shinies ) Pearl is kinda my "reset" game, the one with nothing too important on it that I can pull out if I feel like going through the game again. Platinum is my legit game that I plan on BEATING. That is to say, getting a black trainer card, and getting gold seals in all of the battle areas.

See for me, I don't see shinies as prizes as much as I see them as alternate colorations. So if I like the color of a shiny better than the normal one, I'll go ahead and enter in the "wild Pokemon shiny" code and catch it like that :X

Platinum is my legit game that I plan on BEATING. That is to say, getting a black trainer card, and getting gold seals in all of the battle areas. That is so what I do! I have 3 pokemon games: Pearl was the 1st ds game I got and it was like my main game with all of the good pokemon and tms. Diamond was just the game that I started over on like 5 times. Now that I have platinum, it has been like another pearl in holding a lot of good pokemon and slowly getting lots of tms. I am going to buy another platinum later so I can start over on that without losing all of my good stuff on my current platinum since diamond is kinda useless now.. I might make it the game where I use the action replay when I get it since, if anything goes wrong nothing good will be lost.. I would love for you to trade me a shiny and good tms since it wouldn't be that hard since you are only 3 hours ahead..

I know a few places to get codes, it's just my AR cord never worked, so I need to copy the codes by hand. And I'm lazy.

I'm seriously thinking about getting a DS purely for the new pokemon games.. I'd get platinum in anticipation of heart gold and soul silver of course.
Is it worth getting a DSi for them ?

Most definately. And hell, it can't hurt to go to Wal*Mart and go through the $5 bin and pick up some older games, either. ;D

I have only ever caught one shiny but its very special to me. I caught a golden Exeggcute on Fire Red and in the Safari Zone of all places! Not only was I lucky enough to find a shiny but I was also lucky enough for it not to flee! Since then it evolved into Exeggutor, won the Indigo Plateau and is now happily retired in my Diamond PC box.

I just recently caught my 2nd shiny in the wild.
It is a shiny Roselia that I found at lv 29 on route 221 near the pal park.
I was so shocked and I was just lucky that I recently got a masterball from firered or my lv 60+ people would most likely have killed the poor thing.
I haven't really used it but I think I might start over with it after the 4th badge since it is special.
The 1st shiny that I caught was a shiny golduck at lv 51, I plan to train it to lv 100 eventually but it isn't that high on the list of people to train.
Right now I am training a Kyogre, Latios, and Rapidash to lv 90 in Platinum.
I just got finished training a arcanine, vespiquen, and luxray to lv 90 from lv 60..

Is the only place to train for the Elite Four Victory Road?
There has to be higher levels somewhere.

Is the only place to train for the Elite Four Victory Road? There has to be higher levels somewhere. Right outside Sunyshore City, there are some high level trainers you can battle over and over again (use your vS. Seeker) and the grass there has a bunch of 40+ Mr. Mimes, Gastradoons, and Floatelz.
