Backstory: In July 2005, long time WWE employees,Dave Hebner, his twin brother Earl, and nephew Brian were released from the company due to a scandal. Upon their release, they were signed to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). In addition to working for TNA, The Hebners founded United Wrestling Federation Live (UWF Live) . UWF Live worked closely with TNA until 2007 when they severed ties with each other. UWF Live still used the 6-sided ring, however.
The Hebners eventually sold their ownership of UWF Live to partner, Hermie Sadler, but UWF Live business slowly dwindled. Sadler eventually signed an announcer contract.
In 2009, The Hebners looked to fill the void that UWF Live left behind. TNA created a storyline to take Earl off TV while he worked on this new company. They decided to focus entirely on one of the dying divisions in pro wrestling, Tag Team. They started working on the promotion, trying to find talent, locations, and whatnot, but first, it needed a name. What did the twins name their new promotion? Why, none other than Gemini Pro Wrestling!
