- The opening segment airs, as this is followed by what happened last Monday night on RAW, where it was The Rock taking on Kevin Nash in the main event. Both men traded blows, but the nWo eventually got involved, and Rock was laid out despite assistance from WWF Intercontinental Champion, Rob Van Dam and Kane, the dominant nWo standing tall as RAW came to a close.
- The opening video package airs, to 'Across the Nation' by Union Underground, and we then cut to the arena where pyrotechnics go off, and Jim Ross and Jerry "King" Lawler happily introduce us to another exciting edition of Monday Night RAW! They hype up appearances from WWF Undisputed Champion, Triple H and Undertaker before their big match at Backlash, Sunday, as those two will sign a contract. Plus, Rob Van Dam will defend the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Scott Hall!
- We go to the live arena as the theme of the 'Nature Boy', Ric Flair played into the arena, the crowd erupting in 'woo's, the RAW General Manager strutting out to the arena and climbing into the ring, Flair seemingly happy. Flair climbs into the ring and welcomes everybody to his brand live on TNN tonight, then reminding everybody that he runs RAW, not the nWo. Flair denotes that last week, he made an ultimatum to Kevin Nash, for nWo to not be involved in the match with The Rock, but the nWo still got involved, and it looked as though nWo were running the house as RAW last week went off the air. Flair told everybody that tonight, though Rob Van Dam will face Scott Hall, he is taking away the title shot, and the match between the WWF Intercontinental Champion and the nWo's Scott Hall will be a non-title bout! Flair continues, but is then cut off as the theme of Rob Van Dam booms into the arena, the WWF Intercontinental Champion coming out to the ring, the belt on his shoulder as the fans loved him. RVD demands that the title be put up on the line, as Van Dam requests an alternative way to punish nWo for last week. Van Dam asks for a match at Backlash, with Kane and The Rock to take on the nWo in a six-man tag team no holds barred match! The crowd popped as suddenly, the theme of the nWo played, X-Pac, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash confidently walking out to the rampway. They mention that The Rock was hospitalized last Monday on RAW, and he isn't expected back, because he's mysteriously emigrated to Hollywood! The trio laugh as the crowd boos, Hall telling RVD that he's looking forward to taking his gold later, and taking their careers on Sunday!

- We return to the backstage office of our General Manager, Ric Flair as he seems a little unsatisfied. Arn Anderson notices this and asks Flair what is bothering him, Flair telling Arn that he's not satisfied becase the nWo are always on his case. Anderson wisely suggests that X-Pac be punished tonight, and that he will take it upon himself to block out any interference during Scott Hall and Rob Van Dam's battle for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Flair thanks Arn, then telling Anderson that tonight, X-Pac will be facing Big Show!

Match #1: Bradshaw defeated Goldust to win the WWF Hardcore Championship at 5:02 Not a bad way to kick off RAW inside the ring, but Goldust seemed very out of it, and I wouldn't say that he seemed prepared for battle with the tough Texan, Bradshaw. Bradshaw was in his element, in his home state of Texas, and he seemed extremely motivated to take out Goldust and win the WWF Hardcore Championship. Goldust took out the golden shovel from WrestleMania X8 and attempted to retain the title, but a shot from a beer bottle gave Bradshaw the win!
- Bradshaw celebrated his victory quickly, taking the WWF Hardcore Championship, but just when he was about to leave the ring, Justin Credible ran at Bradshaw just so that Bradshaw could knock his head almost clean off with a Clothesline From Hell! Bradshaw got a loud reaction as he headed for the back. Goldust seemed dazed and confused as he crawled around the ring canvas.
- We cut to the backstage hallway, as D-Lo Brown was shown, and he looked incredibly determined, Terri suddenly running into him, D-Lo being asked as to why he chose to fight Brock Lesnar tonight. D-Lo told Terri that he was sick of people like Lesnar thinking that they could run in here and murder and claim their spot. D-Lo continued walking, his battle with the 'Next Big Thing' being up next!

Match #2: Brock Lesnar defeated D-Lo Brown at 3:48 Not a bad match here, but it did not do D-Lo Brown any goodness. The 'Next Big-Thing' mauled D-Lo Brown though Brown did try his best to serve as a threat to Brock Lesnar. Paul Heyman's appearance at ringside did nothing to prevent Brown's offense, he didn't do a thing but the announcers noted him as being sinister. Diamond Dallas Page was shown watching from a backstage monitor, and Lesnar finished the bout with his phenomenal show of strength, the F5.
- Brock Lesnar celebrated his victory to a huge applause, Paul Heyman casually trolling into the ring and raising the 'Next Big-Thing's hand in victory, stepping over D-Lo Brown's body. Diamond Dallas Page, watching on from the backstage area just kept watching, before walking away.
- We go to a pre-taped segment, as Rico were sitting in between his two boys, Billy and Chuck, Rico holding their WWF Tag Team Championship belts. The trio comments on their string of bad luck against the Dudley Boyz, going into the match on Sunday at Backlash. Billy tells them that they are motivated, and Sunday will be a long night for them...the two looked into each others' eyes. Seconds later, they said 'AND the Dudleys!' leaving a vile image in the head of the viewer.
- We cut to the backstage hallway as Jeff Hardy was shown talking to Lita, as the two discuss the situation that Matt Hardy has ahead of him, because tonight, Matt's task is to wear down Chris Jericho, and Jeff tells Lita that he's worried because Y2J is an evil man deep down, and Lita knows that because of what happened to her a few weeks back. Jeff requests Lita not to go out with Matt tonight, as Matt suddenly appears, smirking and telling Jeff and Lita that onight will be a breeze.
- Going to the parking lot, we suddenly see Undertaker pull up on his motorcycle, and the contract signing for the WWF Undisputed Championship is still yet to come!

Match #3: Big Show defeated X-Pac at 4:23 by disuqalification Not anything spectacular on display here, as X-Pac was being punished for disobeying the RAW General Manager, Ric Flair and interfering in the match between Kevin Nash and The Rock last week. X-Pac was obviously in a mismatch position, as Big Show chased him around the ring, manhandling X-Pac at every opportunity and any opportunity. Big Show managed to choke X-Pac out several times, as X-Pac seemed unable to go on in the match at times, but was able to, the crowd loving Big Show for beating up X-Pac. Suddenly, however, when Big Show attempted the Chokeslam, X-Pac kicked Show right in the crotch!
- X-Pac kicked Big Show again in the crotch before delivering the X-Factor on the big man! X-Pac did his crotch-chops to the crowd's disapproval as the official attended to a downed Big Show.
- We go to the backstage office of RAW General Manager, Ric Flair, as he did not seem pleased, annoyed as he watched X-Pac deliver the crotch chops over Big Show on a television monitor. Arn Anderson told Flair not to worry, because all is not lost. Anderson was standing up, ready to go out and block nWo interference from getting in the way of a good WWF Intercontinental Championship match.
- We suddenly go to two seperate hallways, one with Scott Hall walking down, and the other containing the WWF Intercontinental Champion, Rob Van Dam! The two battle for the WWF Intercontinental Championship, up next!

Match #4: Rob Van Dam defeated Scott Hall to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship at 7:30 One of the better matches of the evening here, as the WWF Intercontinental Championship was up for grabs; Rob Van Dam and Scott Hall's feuding climaxing to this point. Scott Hall seemed motivated to take the title away from RVD by any means necessary, but Van Dam just would not let Hall steal away the title to the nWo camp of the RAW brand. The announcers wondered who would team with Kane and Rob Van Dam on Sunday at Backlash, both men continuing to battle, evenly almost. Hall clubbed at RVD as Van Dam fought using his unorthodox, high-flying style. Hall eventually attempted the Outsider's Edge but RVD slid out and rolled Hall up in a backslide for the win!
- Rob Van Dam quickly darted out of the ring in victory, the crowd cheered as RVD grabbed the WWF Intercontinental Championship and backed up the rampway! Scott Hall was left in the ring in outrage, Van Dam just grinned and pointing at himself.
- We go to Kane in the backstage hallway, as Jonathan Coachman is standing by, Kane is asked about who his and Rob Van Dam's partner will be at Backlash, this Sunday. Kane just laughs, telling Coach that he'll see like everybody else.

Match #5: Jacqueline defeated Molly Holly at 4:21 Nothing too bad here, as these are two of the better womens wrestlers in the World Wrestling Federation. Jacqueline and Molly Holly's different unique styles oddly mixed well, both women managing to put on a short, yet well-structured battle. Molly used her more faster pace whereas Jacqueline in her home state used the average-hardhitting Texan style. Molly eventually went for a hurricanrana, but Jacqueline reversed it into a powerbomb, Jazz coming out at that point near-abouts to distract Jacqueline. This convinced Jackie to make the match continue, impressing the WWF Womens Champion, in a way making her fear for her title reign, as Jacqueline and Jazz will fight at Backlash, Sunday. Molly eventually ran into a hard DDT, leading to the win for Jackie!
- Jacqueline celebrated her victory before Jazz stepped into the ring, clocking Jackie around the head with a shot from the WWF Womens Championship! Jazz celebrated before heading for the back.
- We go to the backstage corridor, and Chris Jericho will compete with Matt Hardy up next!
- A commercial aired, to the theme 'Young Grow Old' by Creed, hyping up Backlash, this Sunday, live on pay-per-view from Kansas City, Missouri, set to feature such matches as Triple H vs Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Kurt Angle, plus more!
-
Commercial Break.
- We see the WWF Undisputed Champion, Triple H arrive at the arena, and he seemed pleased to be here, getting ready for the contract signing for Backlash's match with Undertaker, later tonight.
-
Match #6: Matt Hardy defeated Chris Jericho by count out at 5:51 A good match here, though for the main part, it was a brawl. Matt Hardy was heading in there, not to win but to try and manhandle Chris Jericho, for laying his hands on Lita last month, as well as gaining retribution for himself after being attacked by Y2J in the past few weeks. Chris Jericho did manage to avoid the stronghold of Matt, though, as Y2J repeatedly dashed from the ring in a way to try and get away from the attack. Jericho then managed to regain momentum, taking Hardy out with a knee to the gut, then working on the ribs briefly. Hardy wasn't in the mood, though, as he clotheslined Y2J over the top rope! Jericho refused to get back in the ring, though, strangely, and he got himself counted out!
- Chris Jericho grinned as Matt Hardy seemed angry, but when Y2J headed further up the rampway, he was jumped by Jeff Hardy! The two traded shots as Hardy just buried Y2J in lefts and rights, delivering a DDT and leaving Jericho laid out on the rampway! The Hardy Boyz celebrated as Lita reappeared.
- We go to the backstage hallways, as Ric Flair was shown heading for the ring, as well as WWF Undisputed Champion, Triple H and number contender, Undertaker, the contract signing for the match at Backlash is up next!
-
Commercial Break.
- The theme of the RAW General Manager, Ric Flair hit the arena once again, as the 'Nature Boy' headed down the rampway to loud cheers once again, though Flair wasn't seemingly as in the mood for strutting down to the ring like he was before. Flair got into the ring, as the red canvas was out and a table stood in the ring, two chairs sat at either end. Flair welcomed everybody to the contract signing for Backlash's main event, this Sunday live on pay-per-view from the sold-out Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. Flair firstly reminded us that this was only Triple H's second defense of the WWF Undisputed Championship, then introducing Undertaker out to the ring. Undertaker came to the ring and glared down at Flair, trying to intimidate his rival from WrestleMania X8. 'Taker mentioned that he should still be on RAW, but after Sunday, it won't matter, because he will have Triple H's WWF Undisputed Championship over his shoulder! Undertaker mentions that Triple H is ill-deserving because his wife has made everything for him, he has no respect because people like Triple H aren't earning it, they're gaining it through other people, like Stephanie McMahon! Undertaker tells Triple H that the final step to getting respect comes Sunday, when he becomes the WWF Undisputed Champion! The crowd boos as Triple H's theme then hits, the man himself coming out to the ring and telling everybody of his detailed history with 'Taker, dating back to 1999. Triple H tells Undertaker that times have seriously changed since then, and on Sunday, Undertaker will learn that he is not the snob he once was. 'Taker signed the contract in the midst of tension, but when Triple H signed it, 'Taker big booted him in the head! Undertaker delivered a Chokeslam on Triple H, right through the table! Undertaker picked up the WWF Undisputed Championship, and this could be a sign of things to come, Sunday at Backlash!
