Did anyone catch the preview of "Siege" in a few Marvel titles this week? After a sub-par offering from Marvel on Secret Invasion, I had low hopes for this event, which I knew little about. But after reading the preview and seeing Loki's "incident", I'm psyched to see how this plays out.
Poor Volstagg...

This may be a stupid question but I'm not too up to date on Marvel comics, is this just a continuation of Dark Reign or is this just something else entirely?
I saw the trailer for it and it looks neat so I think I might check this out and hopefully it turns out to be pretty awesome.

Spoilers: Norman's trying to take down Asgard, as he sees it as his one final thorn in his side. He works with Loki to create an incident, on the understanding that such an incident is what set into motion the Civil War, however, this time on a much more grand scale (it involves an out of control Asgardian, and a football stadium on game day).
Supposedly, this is going to usher in a new "heroic age" for Marvel, as well as bring back together the "Big 3".

I haven't gone to the comic shop this week yet, but I'm looking forward to SIEGE: THE CABAL. This should be a good event.

Just a heads up regarding anyone keeping abreast of the Marvel U: Even though it's kinda plainly obvious and all, what with the title, if you're the picky type, the Dark Avengers Annual does spoil the ending of Captain America: Reborn.

I haven't gone to the comic shop this week yet, but I'm looking forward to SIEGE: THE CABAL. This should be a good event. Cabal is great. read that issue. and of the coarse the real question of Siege is just who is Osborn's secret weapon? i really cant believe that it'll be Miracleman unless they really introduce him well and give him a backstory in the MU because every character seems to know who it is by just seeing them and the character scares most into line. in all seriousness, how would The Hood & Taskmaster know Miracleman? its gotta be someone else. and because Bendis is writing this and knowing how much he loves to bring back obscure and forgotten powerhouses like The Sentry & The Hood, it'll be someone who was around briefly and then forgotten. that or it'll be a character from the 90s. Marvel has brought back a bunch of characters from the 90s that hadnt been seen since the 90s this year. Nate Grey is back. Kaine is back. Darkhawk is back. Magus came back. there's a good chance its a character who was big in the 90s and then vanished. that seems to be the theme of this year with Marvel.

Read Siege:The Cabal today, it was pretty good, it was a nice setup to this event. I loved the beginning with Osborne talking to the Green Goblin, and I hope Osbornes powerful new ally turns out to be someone cool.
The issue 1 preview was also pretty cool, I can't wait to see what is going to happen to Volstagg after that and what is going to happen in the rest of that issue.

i gotta say i enjoyed dark reign and siege looks like a great wrap-up of the epic stories involving the whole marvel u, but i'll be happy when we return to the normal structuring of characters etc. on a side note, i can't believe how much they truly ed up on the punisher in dark reign. i loved his encounter with sentry, and his general mission to take out osborn, but the list ed it all up.

I haven't gotten Siege: The Cabal yet but I have high hopes for this. I think it'll be the strongest of the trilogy.

It really sucks that they spoiled the end of Captain America Reborn in comics like Invincible Iron Man.

I'm assuming they'll both don the shield for a while, and duel the role.

First issue was good. Lot's of cool moments, such as (spoilers):
- Ares confronting Fandral and Hogun - Blake becoming Thor upon learning of Norman's siege on Asgard - Sentry flying straight through the base of Asgard - Avengers bringing down Thor with ease
Plus, Loki is all over the place. This event looks promising.

Picked up Siege 1 today and loved it. I can't wait for Siege 2.
They're promoting an Avengers death; any guesses? I just realized it could be Dark Avengers, not necessarily New Avengers...I wouldn't be surprised if it's Ms. Marvel. Her solo comic is ending soon, I believe. Although it wouldn't make sense if she died in Siege 2 and was in another issue a month later...buuut Steve Rogers is already back while Reborn is still going on.
