Interested to see where you go with Bischoff in charger of WCW.
Raw was good as well. Glad that Raven is getting a push, and a Jericho/Pac feud could be good. I was glad to see Kane win. Was a bit surprising, which is good, and adds a little freshness to the title picture.

WCW Monday Nitro: Monday 22nd January 2001...Decent promo to get things started, with Ric Flair in the ring, I like him announcing Eric Bischoff and Fusient Media now own World Championship Wrestling, change happening should be good, but I'd adore it if Flair and Bischoff were to have an excessively strained relationship. Wonder how long Nitro will be on TNT, and Thunder on TBS, because surely Time Warner executives won't want to keep them on there. Jamie Knoble beating AJ Styles seems like a really weak way to kick off the show; it just didn't seem so great, as Knoble has been stuck in the Jung Dragons for some time, whereas AJ Styles has been competing with Air Paris as Air Raid. Hopefully you have Paris get in Styles' way, and don't plan to rush up AJ to the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship soon. Hopefully Evan Karagias teams with Jimmy Yang, by the way; it's always good to keep some teams. Big Vito beating Norman Smiley is okay, the WCW World Hardcore Championship I'm wondering if you plan to keep around in this diary. It didn't really work so well. Also, these matches usually started backstage if I recall. Billy Kidman picking up the upset victory against WCW World Tag Team Champion, Chuck Palumbo is a fine decision, would be a decent bout here. Jeff Jarrett beating The Cat is a damn good decision; never really been fond of The Cat, Ernest Miller has just never really appealed to me. MI Smooth? What's going on there. Decent tag team bout to follow up with Shane Douglas teaming with Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell to face Hugh Morrus and Kronik. Sounds ridiculous, but make Hugh Morrus legitimate; he's a great big man worker, I'd hate to see the guy, as agile as he is somewhere in the undercard ranks. Kronik looking credible against Totally Buff is fine, a feud going on there would be good, but wouldn't put together too many great matches. Not fond of the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash going one-on-one in what would be a main event match, only to be sidelined by a promo. I wish it had either main evented, or just hadn't. Surely the main event promo could have been the first-hour closing segment. Nonetheless, good win for Nash; a feud with Steiner should and would be good, but wondering what Diamond Dallas Page's role is in all of this. Great promo to end Nitro, though, but still; not main event worthy. Eric Bischoff promising change is nice. Looking forward to April 2nd [April 1st is a Sunday], but wish you'd announced changing networks at the same time as announcing the new network Nitro would be shown on. Decent show; better than some weeks.
WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 22nd January 2001...Decent promo to get things underway with WWF Champion, Kurt Angle mentioning and gloating about his win over Chris Jericho at the Royal Rumble. Liking the confidence by Angle about Royal Rumble winner, Stone Cold Steve Austin too. Hmm, not so fond of Vince McMahon coming out and turning on Angle; those two were always seemingly close in 2001. Chris Jericho, Triple H, The Rock and Kane seems like an awfully big main event for No Way Out, but I see Rock winning to face Angle at No Way Out. Big Bossman? Eurgh, he was out of shape in 2001 from what I recall. He doesn't really need the WWF Hardcore Championship, so hopefully this is a transitional arrangement. Al Snow and Bossman are like the WWF Hardcore Championship legends; the original few champions, but that time is long gone. The Hardy Boyz beating the Holly Cousins is totally fine, Hardcore and Crash were used effectively still, and were amusing. Not to mention though, they were faces. Hopefully Molly Holly gets into the neglected WWF Womens Championship scene, by the way. Chris Jericho and X-Pac feuding again? I hope it doesn't last too long, since their feud was cut off in the climax with a steel cage match. Chris Benoit beating D-Lo Brown is okay, D-Lo is in a comfortable position. Benoit as WWF Intercontinental Champion is good, but he needs to do something soon, rather than just having random title defenses. Usually on RAW here, it was uncommon for a match like Benoit against D-Lo to occur with nothing happening. Stone Cold beating Big Show was fine, they had a strange altercation at the real 2001 Royal Rumble, so good decision to have them fight in the first hour main event. Hopefully The Undertker and Rikishi feud well. Raven and Billy Gunn really didn't seem like a RAW-worthy match, to be honest. It'd happen on Heat, but not here. Raven going over is fine; it's just again, there is nothing else happening. It's just a random filler match, which was pretty uncommon for RAW in 2001. They had a truly unique way of getting people over. Like calling somebody out, or a backstage segment leading to a match. If that had happened before Gunn/Raven, I'd have dug it. The Undertaker beating Albert is fine, seemed like a lacklustre match but got 'Taker over. I hate Albert in this time, so hopefully you convince me he's credible on his own. Great main event, but Kane winning the main event, whilst it is good for change, I just hate the decision. Kane and Angle at No Way Out seems really iffy, as both are heels, and of all of the people; it's Kane. I can not at all see him going to WrestleMania X-Seven. A good show, but hopefully Stone Cold and Triple H feud at No Way Out too; now that would be the star-power drawing match.

WCW logo
Mike Tenay and Scott Hudson welcome everyone WCW Thunder. Schiavone is able to promote some of the show which includes Lex Luger taking on General Rection, Kronik taking on Jindrak and O’Haire, and Reno will take on Disco Inferno plus much more. Tenay and Hudson are unable to promote the whole show as WCW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner music hits and Steiner comes down to the ring clearly not happy about something.
Scott Steiner grabs a microphone and makes it clear that Eric Bischoff is on his mind. Steiner says that he hates Eric Bischoff just as much as he hates Ric Flair. Steiner runs down Bischoff for being obsessed with old wrestlers and never giving the big bad booty daddy a title run earlier. Steiner says that he had to wait until WCW is in its bad times to get the much deserved title run. Steiner believes that Eric Bischoff will try to get someone to beat him for the title but Steiner claims that he is the toughest guy in WCW and that no one will step up to face him one on one. Steiner mentions Sting and Booker T as two guys that Eric Bischoff adored as being taken out of WCW by Scott Steiner. Steiner says that he will hold the WCW World Heavyweight Championship for as long as he damn well pleases because he is the best that WCW has ever had. Steiner again claims that no one can beat him. The fans chant Goldberg, but Steiner reminds them that he has to beat his streak and that he doubts Goldberg will even do that. Steiner proceeds to issue a challenge to anyone so that he can rid of this anger. As Steiner continues to talk, Terry Funk slides in from behind with a trash can and hits Steiner over the head. Funk mounts the champion with several right hands. Steiner manages to get up and takes Funk down with a clothesline. They brawl for a few moments until security runs down and breaks up the brawl. Hudson and Tenay believe that Terry Funk has gone insane!
Commercials
Opening Contest: Corporal Cajun defeated Shane Helms and Shannon Moore to become the #1 contender to the WCW Cruiserweight Championship: A decent three way match to open the show. Cajun showcased a lot of skill taking Moore down with a swinging neck breaker and also connecting with a northern lights suplex and being able to backdrop Helms down at the same time. Helms nailed Cajun with a super kick moments later and nearly won the match. Moore surprised Helms with a middle rope leaping heel kick. Late in the match, Chavo Guerrero made his way down to the ring and after a referee bump entered the ring. Helms was holding Cajun as Chavo enters with the belt and goes to hit Cajun but Cajun moves and Chavo hits Helms who falls to the mat. Cajun clotheslines Chavo over the top to the floor. Moments later, Cajun blocks a wheelbarrow attempt by Moore and connects with a elevated reverse DDT to pick up the win. After the match, Chavo flips out that Cajun won the match and Cajun signals that he is coming for the Cruiserweight Championship in short time.
Backstage, Gene is standing with Lance Storm. Gene asks Lance Storm what his issue is with Disco Inferno. Storm says that Inferno makes wrestling look like a joke. Storm doesn’t like the fact that Inferno dances around and plays to the crowd. That isn’t wrestling. Storm says he is what wrestling is all about and that he is going to take all the morons who make wrestling look like a joke, out of WCW.

Rection tells Tenay that he is focused on beating the old washed up Lex Luger and then going to WCW Superbrawl and regaining his WCW United States Championship from Shane Douglas. Rection lets out a laugh before leaving the scene.
Second Contest: Disco Inferno defeated Reno: Inferno controlled a rather good portion of the match. Inferno did do a lot of taunting but Reno wasn’t really able to capitalize on that. Third Contest: Chris Candido defeated Jimmy Yang: The recently returned Chris Candido competes in his first singles match here on Thunder. Yang used his speed to take Candido down with a springboard somersault dive for a near fall. Candido connects with a tilt a whirl sit out slam and nearly won the match. Yang took Candido down with a top rope hurricanrana and nearly won the match. Candido crotched Yang on the top rope and connected with a top superplex. Candido follows up with the New Jersey Jam and picks up the win. After the match, Candido flexes for the camera and makes it clear that he is going to be climbing the WCW ladder.
Backstage, Gene enters Eric Bischoff’s office and asks Bischoff what he is going to do about Scott Steiner and Terry Funk. Bischoff says that he enjoys Steiner’s work as champion here in WCW and that he deserves his fair run. However, Bischoff also says that for what he said tonight that Steiner deserves to get his ass kicked. Bischoff proceeds to make Scott Steiner vs. Terry Funk in hardcore match. Bischoff says that the title will not be on the line, however.

Fourth Contest: General Rection defeated Lex Luger: Luger works on Rection early on in the corner with several right hands and power slams Rection for a near fall. Rection avoids a clothesline in the corner and delivers a running big splash in the corner. Rection sets Luger up and connects with a delayed vertical suplex. Rection attempts a DDT but Luger flapjacks Rection down. Luger goes for the Torture Rack but Rection slides out and DDT’s Luger. Rection goes to the top and connects with the No Laughing Matter. Rection covers Luger and picks up the win. After the match, Shane Douglas attacks Rection with a chain. Douglas ties Rection’s hands together and Luger slides a chair into Douglas. Rection stumbles to his feet and is met with a vicious chair shot from Douglas. Douglas stands over Rection taunting the fans.
Backstage, Gene is with Mike Awesome who yanks the microphone away from Tenay and begins to scream. Awesome says that since April 10th, the day he showed up in WCW he has been wanting to be given the chance to make a name for himself. Awesome was sick and tired of waiting for his chance and decided to pave his own way. Awesome says that he will be known as the man who ended Goldberg’s run in WCW.
Commercials
Fifth Contest: Sid Vicious defeated Johnny the Bull: A simple squash match here. Bull attempted a springboard cross body but was caught and slammed down by Sid. Sid followed with a big boot, choke slam and the power bomb to pick up the win in less than three minutes. After the match, Sid is playing to the crowd until Andrew Martin comes down to ringside teasing that he would be entering the ring. That is when Jeff Jarrett comes in from behind and hits Sid with his guitar. Jarrett also plants Sid with the Stroke and leaves the ring. Martin also walks up the ramp laughing at Sid as we go to commercial.

Backstage, Gene catches up with Jeff Jarrett and asks him what was he doing. Jarrett tells Tenay that he hit Sid with his guitar for one simple reason, to get the upper hand. Tenay asks for what reason. Jarrett says that he and Sid will be doing battle on Nitro in a qualifying match to make it in the WCW World Heavyweight Championship match. Tenay is shocked to hear that and Jarrett tells Tenay to close his mouth, slap nut. Jarrett assures Tenay and everyone else that he will get in the match and regain his belt.
Sixth Contest: Kronik defeated Mark Jindrak/Sean O’Haire: A competitive tag team match here. O’Haire connected with a nice bicycle kick on Adams and Jindrak took Clarke down with a springboard clothesline for a near fall. Clarke comes back with a half nelson slam and nearly got the win on Jindrak. Adams got involved taking O’Haire down with a military press slam. Late in the match, O’Haire misses the swanton bomb and is met with the High Times as Kronik picks up the win. After the match, Kronik taunt to the camera telling Totally Buff that they will be suffering the same fate soon enough.
Backstage, Gene is standing with Chris Kanyon. Kanyon tells Gene that DDP is acting like Kanyon is afraid to face DDP. Kanyon tells Gene that if he was afraid of DDP would he had attacked Page back at WCW Sin? No. Kanyon believes that DDP is the reason why Chris Kanyon has been able to be the superstar that everyone knows that he is. Kanyon tells Gene that on February 18th at Superbrawl Revenge, Kanyon will just that, the biggest thing going in WCW. Kanyon mocks DDP by doing the diamond cutter taunt and leaves the scene as Gene just shakes his head.
Commercials
Main Event: Scott Steiner defeated Terry Funk in a hardcore non-title match: These two brawl all over ringside hitting each other with chairs, trash cans and a kendo stick. Steiner back dropped Funk over the railing and into the crowd where they brawled for a few moments. They made their way back to the ring where Funk DDT Steiner on the ring steps but couldn’t get a three count. Funk got a table and set it up on the floor. Funk signaled for a pile driver but Steiner low blows Funk and power bombed Funk on the floor! Steiner placed Funk on the table and leaps off the apron driving a elbow onto Funk crashing through the table. Steiner rolls Funk into the ring and locks in the Steiner Recliner where Funk eventually passes out. After the match, Steiner keeps the hold on for a few extra moments before letting go. Steiner gets on the middle rope with his WCW World Heavyweight Championship and taunts the fans as Schiavone and Hudson wonder if anyone will be able to beat Scott Steiner.
End of show

- Woah, Funk attacking Steiner. What a way to open the show. - Corporal Cajun v Chavo should be good. Hopefully Chavo wins out in the end. - Good Storm promo. Hell Bent on kicking gimmicks out of WCW - Like the way he puts Luger down there. Should be good to see those two go at it. - Disco winning is good. Maybe a Storm attack here? - Candido beating Yang is great. - Hardcore match should be great. Won't be too brutal though, as its just TV. - Rection win is good, builds him as a threat. Aftermath builds the feud well. - I've gotta say, I love the Awesome/ Goldberg feud, and it'll be great when they clash. - Very interesting there. Jarrett and Martin? - Would've liked Jindrax and O'Haire to win, but Kronik win makes them look credible going against TB. - Kanyon and DDP will make for a great battle. - Scott over Funk was expected. A great match to end the show with.
Great show as always man.

World Wrestling Federation presents Smackdown Date: 1/25/2001 From: Mobile, Alabama Announcers: Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler
Smackdown opening video
Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcome everyone to the show and run down what is scheduled to take place. Cole heavily promotes a tag team main event that will see WWF World Champion Kurt Angle and Big Show take on Kane and The Rock. Lawler doesn’t believe that these two teams will be able to coexist tonight. Also tonight, X-Pac makes his in-ring return as he teams with Rikishi to take on Chris Jericho and the Undertaker. Also tonight the Samoan Gangsters will make their in-ring debut. Cole says there is much more scheduled to take place. Just as he finishes that statement, the WWF World Champion Kurt Angle and the Big Show make their way down to the ring.
Kurt Angle grabs a microphone and appears to be rather confident about tonight. Angle mentions that at No Way Out he has to face Kane for the WWF World Championship and says that he isn’t worried about it. Angle turns to the Big Show and says that tonight the Big Show will make sure that Kane will not even make it to the pay per view. Angle tells the fans that he and Show have had issues in the back but they are back on good terms because Show has seen the light and is the monster he should be. Angle doesn’t believe that Kane and Rock will get along tonight because of the Rock’s ego and how demented Kane is. Show grabs the microphone and says that he has never liked Kane and the Rock and tonight he gets his chance to take both of them out. Show mentions how he had been gone for several months and that he is back and focused to rise to the top and become a champion. Angle snatches the microphone away and says that is far in the future, because Angle and Show are in agreement that he is the champion and Show is lackey. Show didn’t like that comment at all but Angle managed to back peddle and keeps reminding Show about Rock and Kane. Angle and Show walk to the back with Angle trying to smooth everything over.
Commercials
Opening Contest: Samoan Gangsters defeated Holly Cousins: Kimo and Ekmo better known as the Samoan Gangsters really showcased what they have to offer to the WWF here. Hardcore Holley seemed really disinterested in teaming with Crash and showed as he didn’t give the effort to tag in. Kimo planted Crash with a big Samoan Drop and Ekmo came off the top rope with a splash to pick up the win. After the match, the Dudley Boys stormed the ring and brawled with the Samoan Gangsters. They would end up brawling all the way to the back.
Backstage, Kevin Kelly is with Raven and Perry Saturn. Raven grabs the microphone and talks about their project to bring out the evil in someone that everyone has. Raven says that at No Way Out, they will reveal who they are going to “change for the better”. Raven and Saturn leave the ring with Raven chuckling.
Commercials
Outside the building, we see the Rock arriving to the building and Rock is viciously attacked by the Big Show. Rock tries to battle back but is again attacked by Kurt Angle who hits Rock with the title belt. Show grabs Rock and choke slams Rock through a catering table. Show and Angle leave the scene as security come over.
Second Contest: Tazz defeated Eddie Guerrero: A very good contest here, as expected. Guerrero drove Tazz down with a tilt a whirl backbreaker and a brain buster but didn’t get the win. Tazz cam back with a series of suplex’s and attempted the Tazz mission but Guerrero snuck in a low blow and connected with a tornado DDT. Guerrero went to the top rope but Tazz managed to crotch Guerrero on the top and connected with a top rope overhead suplex. Tazz followed up with the Tazz mission and won the match as Guerrero tapped out. After the match, Tazz kept the move on until the WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit stormed the ring and hit Tazz with his title belt. Benoit and Guerrero attacked Tazz until that is broken up by officials.
Backstage, Jonathan Coachman is with Rikishi. Coachman asks Rikishi about a apparent “blood feud” between himself and the Undertaker. Rikishi says that making Taker bleed is a great feeling and that he thrives off of that. Rikishi knows that the Undertaker enjoys making people bleed and that they have something in common. Rikishi proceeds to challenge Taker to a first blood match at No Way Out. Rikishi wants to see who the toughest man of two truly is.
Commercials
Triple H’s music hits and HHH makes his way down to the ring to a massive amount of heat. HHH grabs a microphone and makes it clear that he has Steve Austin on his mind. HHH reminds everyone that last Monday that Steve Austin screwed him out of a World Championship match at No Way Out and that Austin is going to regret doing that. HHH thought that he got rid of Austin back when he masterminded the hit and run on Austin back in November of 1999, but no, Austin keeps coming back for more. HHH had Rikishi do his work, and he couldn’t get the job done. Now that Austin has messed with HHH’s career yet again it is time for HHH to do his own job. HHH doesn’t want Steve Austin to be in the WWF anymore, he doesn’t want Austin to have the spotlight at Wrestle Mania XVII. HHH wants to fight Steve Austin at No Way Out once and for all. HHH doesn’t care what kind of match it is, he just wants his hands on Austin so he can take Austin out and get his chance to main event Wrestle Mania. Steve Austin’s music hits and Austin storms the ring. Austin and HHH trade a series of right hands with Austin getting the better of two. HHH delivers a knee to the midsection and goes for the pedigree but Austin backdrops HHH down and soon connects with the Stunner that causes HHH to fall to the floor. Austin gets a microphone as HHH is held back by several security guys and officials. Austin tells HHH that he accepts his challenge and that at No Way Out HHH will get the biggest ass whopping he has ever been given “cause that’s the bottom line cause Stone Cold said so!”.
Commercials
Third Contest: X-Pac/Rikishi defeated Chris Jericho/Undertaker: This was pretty much a all out brawl here. Rikishi nailed Jericho with a savant kick but only got a two count. Pac attempted the X-Factor on Taker but Taker managed lift Pac up and hit the Last Ride. Rikishi entered and broke up the pin fall attempt. Jericho clotheslined Rikishi over the top to the floor. The referee is distracted by this and this allows Albert to slide into the ring and drives Taker down with the Baldo Bomb. Albert places Pac onto Taker and Pac gets the win! After the match, Rikishi, Pac and Albert celebrate their win up the ramp. Undertaker gets up and has a microphone. Taker is pissed off and tells Rikishi that he will see him at No Way Out and that he will make Rikishi bleed.
Backstage, Kevin Kelly is with the WWF European Champion William Regal. Regal puts down all of America saying that none of the people in the USA know anything about respect of manners. Regal tells Kelly that he has found someone who has the same morals as he does and that his protégé will be debuting here in the WWF this coming up Monday to help him teach his lesson to the WWF.
Commercials
Fourth Contest: Essa Rios defeated Funaki to retain the WWF Lightweight Championship: A good fast paced lightweight title match here. Funaki almost won the belt following a slingshot senton splash. Rios planted Funaki with a tilt a whirl tornado DDT and got a near fall. Late in the match, Funaki went to the top attempting a high risk move but Rios manages to get up and connect with a springboard hurricanrana to pick up the win!
Backstage, Jonathan Coachman is with the APA. Coach asks them about their non-title match against Edge and Christian coming up. Bradshaw tells Coach that tonight those “pretty blonde hair dopes” will be getting their asses handed to them and wishing that they didn’t have a target on their backs. Bradshaw also says that when they win they expect a title shot. Faarooq casually drinks a beer and says that the APA will be the dominate tag team in the WWF, and you better believe that.
Backstage, Edge and Christian and mocking what they just saw on a monitor. Edge calls the APA just two drunks who are hyping themselves up. Christian mocks the APA by slurring his speech and mock tripping. Edge and Christian get a laugh out of themselves.
Commercials
Fifth Contest: APA defeated Edge/Christian in a non title match by count out: A decent tag match here. The champions used their speed and high risk taking moves to take out the challengers on the floor hitting a double cross body but decided to pose instead of following up. Faarooq managed to get up and drove Edge down with a spine buster and Bradshaw nailed Christian with a clothesline from hell. APA entered the ring but the champions decided to run up the ramp and bail from the match causing the count-out. After the match, the APA were displeased with the outcome but celebrated their win by drinking a few beers.
Backstage, Kevin Kelly is with Steven Richards who looks rather depressed. Richards talks about the Right To Censor and all the effort he put into the group to clean up the WWF and now it is all wasted away because of Tazz. Richards tells Kelly that he doesn’t know what to do know, and he needs to figured something out. Richards asks himself if the fight is worth fighting.
Sixth Contest: Ivory defeated Jacqueline to retain the WWF Women’s Championship: Jacqueline really controlled a good portion of the match taking Ivory down with a series of snap suplexs and a backbreaker. Ivory managed to come back with a scoop slam and a swinging neck breaker. Late in the match, Jacqueline attempted a power bomb but Ivory reversed by hitting a DDT to pick up the win. After the match, Ivory proclaimed that their wasn’t any worthy competition to her title.
All four men involved in the main event are shown walking to the ring. Rock is holding his ribs due to the attack earlier by Show and Angle.
Commercials
Main Event: Kane/The Rock defeated WWF World Champion Kurt Angle/Big Show: Rock and Show really brawled on the floor throughout with Rock sending Show into guard railings and ring post and Show sending Rock into the ring steps and apron several times. In the ring, Angle tried to work on the knee of Kane and it worked at first, but Kane stopped Angle with a side slam. On the floor, Rock managed to suplex Show through the announcers table and both men were out of the match. In the ring, Angle attempted the Olympic Slam but Kane got out of it and drove Angle down with the tombstone pile driver to pick up the win. After the match, Kane got the WWF World Championship and stood over Angle raising the belt up in the air as Smackdown goes off the air.
End of show.

WCW Thunder: Wednesday 24th January 2001...Decent promo to kick things off, Scott Steiner taunting the top stars in World Championship Wrestling that could stand a chance getting to his WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Wow, Terry Funk getting into the ring is actually pretty nice, and him and Steiner would have a decent hardcore match; I hope you consider going with that for the main event, as it would be better than standard rules; especially since Steiner wasn't really too acrobatic here, and Funk wasn't much of a technician anymore. Strange three-way dance to kick off the show, but no true problem with it, was pretty surprised to see Corporal Cajun get a shot at the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship as opposed to Shane Helms or Shannon Moore, but I am reminded by Chavo Guerrero Jr and Cajun's friendship and union in the MIA faction. I'm wondering why Lance Storm is involved with Disco Inferno right now, I mean Disco didn't mean squat here, plus if you're building Storm up, this isn't the greatest way to go about it. Inferno beating Reno is okay, way to get him over. Ah, Chris Candido returning is very smooth, hopefully he gets into the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship picture in time. Him beating Jimmy Yang is alright. General Rection picking up a victory over Lex Luger? Wow, that's something, pretty surprising that it was clean, though. Shane Douglas then hitting the ring added to Douglas' momentum; maybe he has too much. And I'm very much convinced that Douglas will win this feud. Sid Vicious killing Johnny the Bull is fine. Decent win for Kronik in one of the only credible matches on the card, Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire need to toughen up it seems. Totally Buff need to get their act together if they're face Kronik, and Luger just jobbed out to Rection. Lastly, glad you had it in a hardcore match, and great win for Scott Steiner over Terry Funk; it could have been Monday Nitro worthy. Hopefully Funk isn't done with Steiner. Not a bad show.
WWF SmackDown!: Thursday 25th January 2001...A very smooth promo to kick off SmackDown!, Kurt Angle basically mentioning Kane and his contenders. Big Show as his lackey, that's interesting, but I'd like to see Show turn on him sooner or later. Hmm, I'm still not made up on Ekmo and Jamal appearing already. Wait...Ekmo and Jamal are the exact same person; Eddie Fatu. The Dudley Boyz brawling with them is alright, but hopefully the Dudleys get something better to do soon and don't have a match with the Samoan Gangsters at No Way Out. Tazz beating Eddie Guerrero is fine, not so much a problem there and I liked Chris Benoit running in and attacking Tazz as well; I'd love to see tension over the WWF Intercontinental Championship between Benoit and Eddie of The Radicalz, though. Heated segment wih Triple H; Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin made No Way Out 2001, not The Rock winning the WWF Championship. X-Pac and Rikishi is a strange combination to see, but the criss-crossing tag team matches betweens storylines was one of my favorite highlights of the Attitude Era; a good first-hour main event and I like The Undertaker feuding Rikishi, a first blood match is also quite unique. Hmm, not a fan of the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship being on SmackDown! as the division didn't attract too much attention, but filler and good defense by Essa Rios against Funaki. Was shocked that Taka Michinoku didn't get involved, though. The APA and Edge and Christian had a stiff match, the faulty finish could lead to a rematch, looking forward to that. I'm glad to see the WWF Womens Championship make the card, and a good win for Ivory against Jacqueline; sort of wondering what Ivory's gimmick is now Right to Censor is no more. Lastly, good win for Kane and The Rock over WWF Champion, Kurt Angle and Big Show. A decent show, very realistic, but I'd have removed the Light Heavyweight Championship match, personally.

Extreme Championship Wrestling presents Hardcore TV Date: 1/27/2001 From: Chicago, IL Announcers: Joey Styles and Cyrus
Joey Styles and Cyrus are standing in the middle of the ring and Styles welcomes everyone to tonight’s program. Styles makes sure to point out that we are eight days away from ECW Cyberslam and says that tonight is going to be a extreme night, as usual, for ECW. Styles says that tonight we will see Chilly Willy taking on Johnny Swinger, Little Guido will face Rhino with the ECW Television Championship on the line. Lastly, Kid Kash will meet Justin Credible. Cyrus tells Styles that “the drunk Sandman” apparently wasn’t able to find the arena so Credible has nothing to worry about. Styles just shakes his head as he tells the fans to get ready for some ECW action!

Cyberslam sounds cool. I lol'd a Cyrus' drunk Sandman comment. I'm not familair with either competitors in the opener, it sounded like a decent match-up. Nice postr-match save from Mahoney, tag match? CM Punk? that's actually pretty realistic since he was around back then. Very happy to see Rhino retained the title against Guido, I just couldn't see Guido going over in that contest. Nice save from the Dudleys. RVD vs Tajari sounds great! Great promo from the whole damn show. Corino vs Dreamer sounds interesting. Cool Main Event, I'm not overly surprised Credible won or that Sandman attacked. Good write-up but it seems like there was an attack after every match.

NWO has a really interesting card with Kane getting a title shot and Rikishi vs Taker. Looking forward to that. SuperBrawl looks decent. I like the team of Perfect Event. Interested to see who takes the final two spots in the 4 way. ECW card will be solid.

World Championship Wrestling presents Nitro Date: 1/29/2001 From: Baltimore, Maryland Announcers: Tony Schiavone and Scott Hudson
WCW Nitro opening video
Tony Schiavone and Scott Hudson welcome everyone to the show. Schiavone goes over what is scheduled to take place tonight. Schiavone puts over the big tag team main event that will see Goldberg team up with Diamond Dallas Page to face Mike Awesome and Chris Kanyon. Also tonight, Dustin Rhodes will face WCW United States Champion Shane Douglas in a non-title match. Sid Vicious will battle Jeff Jarrett in a qualifying match to enter the fatal four way match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Superbrawl Revenge. Hudson also makes it clear there is much more to be on the show. Schiavone says “surely this will be one of the biggest Nitro’s in our history, make sure to stay tuned!”.
Eric Bischoff’s music and the new owner of WCW makes his way out to a pretty good reception. Bischoff embraces the crowd and tells them he has a major announcement. Bischoff mentions the fatal four way match and the qualifying matches for the main event at that show. Bischoff says that there is one more qualifying match to take place, next week. However, the major announcement is that a wrestler who has been out of action for several months will be right here next week to compete for his spot in the match. Bischoff says that this man will be facing Mike Awesome in the qualifying match. Bischoff turns his attention to Ric Flair. Bischoff says that Flair is back to being a active competitor but will give Flair a few weeks to get back in shape. Bischoff says that the fans can expect Ric Flair to start competing within a month, either way. Ric Flair’s music hits and Flair power walks to the ring, not strutting or wooing. Flair grabs a microphone and asks Bischoff “so we are back to doing this, are we?” Flair says that since 1994 he has been doing everything Bischoff has wanted, because he was a “company man”. Flair also says that Bischoff took advantage of what he was willing to do. Flair continues by saying that he is a wrestler at heart, so he isn’t doing this for Bischoff, but rather for himself. Flair knows that Bischoff is going to give him anything, Bischoff never has. So, Flair tells Bischoff that he is going to “style and profile” and be a champion in WCW, once again. Flair woos in Bischoff’s face several times before leaving the ring as Bischoff has a doubtful look on his face.

Awesome reassures Gene that he isn’t going to back down from Goldberg. Awesome is convinced he will be the guy who takes Goldberg out of WCW.

The Bischoff/Flair segment was good. I'm thinking that Sting will be the man returning to face Awesome since Superbrawl was one of the big WCW pay-per-views. Nice to see Shawn Stasiak getting a push, although Palumbo was teaming with Sean O'Haire at this point while Stasiak was managed by Keibler, granted I don't think Keibler had returned at this point. You might have noted Stasiak/Palumbo being the new team, I don't remember too much from this diary so apologies if you have. Loving the Andrew Martin push. I loved Jeff Jarrett around this point. Wouldn't mind seeing him as WCW Champion. Andrew Martin vs. Sid Vicious at Superbrawl seems a lock. Awesome taking Goldberg out of WCW would be huge. Shane Douglas over Dustin Rhodes makes sense. I love the Cat/Smooth feud over Ms. Jones, it's very WCW-esque. Using Leia Meow as a decoy made me laugh. Pretty good main event. Show ending was good.
Sorry about how late the reply was, mate.

ECW Hardcore TV: Saturday 27th January 2001...Decent win for Chilly Willy I suppose, over Johnny Swinger. Personally am not too fond of this decision; Swingers is more meaningful for my liking, and Chilly Willy just seems to be a comedy character to me. Balls Mahoney then attacking Simon Diamond and Johnny Swinger did nothing for Swinger nor Diamond. CM Punk debuting could be a little soon. Rhino beating Little Guido is fine, no problem with that, good defense of the ECW World Television Championship once again. Rob Van Dam and Yoshihiro Tajiri's feud is hopefully over soon enough. Steve Corino's promo was pretty intense; sets up for the big match at Cyberslam against Tommy Dreamer for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship; and very well may I add. Justin Credible beating Kid Kash is fine, a decent main event but Sandman attacking was pretty odd. Not bad though, a decent episode. Cards are looking stacked.

- Some good contests tonight. SG in the main event of RAW already? Hmm - Like the opening promo, it was well done. - OMG NIGEL MCGUINNESS!!!!! - Like the X-Pac promo, and Tazz's as well. - DQ victory for the APA is good. Keeps both teams strong. - I really like the SG getting a big time feud with The Dudleys. - Undertaker beating X-Pac is great. An attack by Rikishi could have been good here though. - Liked the Angle Kane promo. It was well done. - Benoit retaining was expected, but Tazz attack was great. - I expect some confrontation between Rikishi and Taker soon. Expect Kishi to beat Jericho. - What? Jericho.. wins? Bad booking. - A tables match between Show and Rock is coming up at NWO.. - Glad KA and SG won. I expect the faces to take back momentum on Smackdown!
A great show here, just wasn't a fan of Jericho winning. Keep it up man.

Opening Contest: Corporal Cajun defeated Kaz Hayashi: A decent opener, but it could have been better. Cajun reversed a tornado DDT attempt by Hayashi and hit a northern lights suplex for a near fall. Sid Vicious makes his way out to the ring to a pretty big ovation. Sid makes it clear that he is not happy with Andrew Martin screwing him out of his match against Jeff Jarrett on Nitro. Sid understands that Martin is looking to be the dominate big man in WCW, so he wants Martin to back up his talk and come down to the ring right now. After a few moments, Martin comes out with a smile on his face. Martin tells Sid that as much as he would like to come down there to kick his ass, he would rather wait. Martin says that he would rather wait until WCW Superbrawl Revenge so that the fans have to pay to see Sid Vicious get destroyed once and for all. Sid accepts Martin’s offer to fight at WCW Superbrawl Revenge and tells Martin that at the pay per view, Martin will find out why Sid is the “master and the ruler of the world”. Sid plays to the fans as Martin just stands at the top of the ramp calmly.

Second Contest: Lance Storm defeated Johnny the Bull: Bull used his power advantage to slam Storm several times throughout the contest. Military press slam, and a snap power slam where highlights. Bull ended up missing a springboard leg drop and walked right into a super kick which allowed Storm to win the match. After the match, Storm locks in the Canadian Maple Leaf until Disco Inferno runs down and hit’s the Last Dance sending Storm to the floor. Inferno dances in the ring as Storm is disgusted on the floor.
Backstage, Gene is with The Cat who is rather serious tonight. Cat grabs the microphone and looks right into the camera. Cat tells MI Smooth that he took his lady, and that is something you just don’t do. Cat lets everyone know that at WCW Superbrawl Revenge he will be “dancing all over your ass and getting Ms. Jones back!”

Backstage, Gene is with the WCW Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero Jr. Chavo talks about how he was good friends with Corporal Cajun in the past. Things changed though when Cajun refused to grow up and be a man. Chavo ripped on Cajun for having ridiculously long side burns and his lack of ability to think for himself. Chavo tells Gene that at WCW Superbrawl Revenge, he will drop Cajun on his head in hopes of waking him up to realize how dumb he has been.
Third Contest: Chris Kanyon defeated Sgt. AWOL: AWOL had the advantage for a few moments but Kanyon was able to use his speed to knock AWOL down with a spinning heel kick. AWOL delivered a big boot and went for the choke slam but Kanyon snuck in a low blow and hit the Kanyon Cutter on AWOL to win the match. After the match, DDP runs down and chases Kanyon through the crowd. Kanyon manages to escape DDP. DDP comes back to the crowd and plays to the crowd to a good reception.
Backstage, Gene is with the WCW World Tag Team Champions Perfect Event. Stasiak and Palumbo tell Gene that they requested their match tonight against Helms and Moore so that they can get used to competing against “angry midgets” as they face the Filthy Animals at WCW Superbrawl Revenge. Stasiak and Palumbo continue to flex as WCW goes to commercial.
Commercials
Fourth Contest: Perfect Event defeated Shannon Moore/Shane Helms in a non-title match: Moore and Helms really surprised the champs as they almost pinned Palumbo following a big splash/leg drop combo off the top rope. Late in the match, Helms attempted the Verterbreaker on Stasiak but was left wide open for the jungle kick from Palumbo. Moore was taken out with a elevated neck breaker by Stasiak. Perfect Event hit a Torture Rack into a spinning neck breaker combo on Helms to win the match.
Backstage, Gene is with General Rection who has a chain wrapped around his fist. Rection hits himself a few times and asks Shane Douglas if he likes to hit people with a chain. Rection mentions that he likes to as well. Rection talks about the upcoming chain match for the WCW United States Championship at WCW Superbrawl and says that he isn’t afraid to bleed or to feel pain. Rection hits himself a few more times and cuts himself open while laughing.

Backstage, Gene is with Jeff Jarrett who talks about the upcoming four way match at WCW Superbrawl Revenge. Jarrett says that he doesn’t care who the final man will be this Monday on Nitro because he will not be prevented from winning back his championship. Jarrett tells Gene to put all of his retirement money on Jeff Jarrett winning the championship once again.
Totally Buff make their way down to the ring and they are dressed up as Kronik. Bagwell is mocking Bryan Clarke as he has his eyes crossed and they mock the signal for High Times. Bagwell grabs a microphone and mocks the phrase of “breaking necks and cashing checks” that Kronik use. Bagwell acts like he (as Clarke) is admitting that he has gotten so far without any talent. Luger (as Adams) begins to argue with Bagwell over who has the least amount of talent between the two. They proceed to agree that Totally Buff have better bodies and are a better tag team. As they continue to taunt Kronik, Kronik come into the ring from behind and attack Totally Buff sending them to the floor. Totally Buff bail up the ramp way, still mocking them as Kronik wants them back in the ring.
Commercials
Fifth Contest: Sid Vicious defeated Meng: This was really just a simple brawl with two big men trading a series of blows. After several moments of lackluster battling, Sid hit a choke slam and a power bomb to win the match. After the match, Andrew Martin is at the top of the ramp way mock clapping for Sid.
Backstage, Gene is with Kevin Nash. Nash tells Gene that tonight he gets to beat up a Steiner, but its Rick and not Scott. Nash says that tonight Scott Steiner will not be able to recognize his own brother and he will get to see his fate. Nash tells Steiner, Jarrett and the mystery fourth man that he is walking out “the sexiest world champion in WCW, once again”.
Commercials
Main Event: Kevin Nash defeated Rick Steiner: A competitive match to end the show this week. Steiner nearly won the match following a bulldog off the middle rope, but Nash was able to kick out. Steiner attempted a death valley driver but couldn’t quite get Nash up. Nash drove Steiner down with a side slam and several moments later hit the Jackknife power bomb to win the match. After the match, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Scott Steiner runs down to the ring and attacks Nash taking him down with a overhead suplex. Scott and Rick work on Nash until General Rection and Sid Vicious run down for the save. That doesn’t last though as Shane Douglas and Andrew Martin run down as well. Thunder comes to an end with a massive brawl taking place.

sorry but I dont know this era too much as I was 7... but I'll give a decent reply a pop
Corporal Cajun (sorry I dont know him?) defeating Kay Hayashi I can't really comment on... Souunded a decent match looking at the moves used. Sid vs Martin at Superbrawl sounds quite cool it'd appear youve buult this well. Storm defeating Johhny The Bull is fine I quite liked Storm back in the day but hey Stamboli (it is him right?) I was also okay with too so wasnt too bothered who won out of the two.. Interesting interview from The Cat dancing all over his ass?!?More Superbrawl build up (you really do seem to be building this well) between Chavo and Cajun. Not sure who he is sadly but yeah, him winning earlier now looks more sensible. Kanyon over SGT AWOL again unfortunately im not familiar with SGT AWOL so I guess im glad he lost to someone I know of in Kanyon. more superbrawl build up this time tag team style. I dig that little segment. Good tosee Perfect Event defeat Moore and Helms since at the end of the day they are tag champs and a defeat would be horrible for them even in non-title action. Jarrett confident fair enough... Kronik/Totally Buff segment is fine I suppose, fair enough there... Nice win for Sid vicious against yet another guy Im not familiar with. Nash beating Rick Steiner is cool enough as a main event. Scott attacking after the match makes sense and the save being made also hypes up superbrawl..
Overall cool enough show, sorry I couldnt be more specific about storylines etc as my knowledge of this time period is minimal. A reply to my Raw in WWE 2007 would be great

WCW Monday Nitro: Monday 29th January 2001...Decent promo to kick things off with Eric Bischoff in the ring, a good promo that pretty much propelled everything into a Bischoff vs Ric Flair atmosphere; that would be good. I actually wonder if a brand split is in order. Shawn Stasiak beating Rey Misterio Jr...that's just shocking plain and simple. Chuck Palumbo costing Misterio the match adds to that, though. It just fuels the fire burning in the Filthy Animals against the Natural Born Thrillers. Sid and Andrew Martin feud? Would be very hot to say the least. Looking forward to that. Big Vito beating Alex Wright I don't mind, since Wright isn't exactly my favorite wrestler. Good defense of the WCW World Hardcore Championship though, I suppose. Jeff Jarrett and Sid would have an awkward match in my mind, but good win for Jarrett. The guitar getting involved was wise. I just wonder though, where did Team Canada go? Haven't seen them around in a few weeks. Kronik and Disco Inferno; that seems like a strange combination. But oh, there's Lance Storm anyway. Good win for Kronik and Inferno over Buff Bagwell, Lex Luger and Lance Storm; disqualification finish was pretty smart I think. Shane Douglas beating Dustin Rhodes is absolutely fine; Shane is currently making for a decent WCW US Heavyweight Champion; meanwhile Dustin is at a comfortable spot on the card, just making for a hard-hitting contender. Lastly, solid tag team main event, Goldberg and Diamond Dallas Page beating Mike Awesome and Chris Kanyon. Overall, it seemed like a basic show, but enjoyable at that. It relied on matches heavily; but I think some more promos could have filled up some spots on the card.
WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 29th January 2001...Decent promo to kick things off, Vince McMahon in the ring, and a Three Stages of Hell match for Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin as originally planned should be intense; just wondering if you are to change any of the stipulations; that match was so awesome, though. William Regal beating Matt Hardy is fine, a good match there, and defense of the WWF European Championship. Hmm, Nigel McGuinness could be used well, but only if he isn't rammed down our throats method of pushed. If he is like what Tajiri was to William Regal; if Regal becomes Comissioner again, then I'll enjoy it. Otherwise, it just comes off as too soon to me. The APA beating Edge and Christian is fine, a solid match there and another title match? Hmm, interesting. Edge and Christian retaining the WWF Tag Team Championships sneakily though, I enjoy that a great deal. Hopefully Bradshaw and Faarooq get a rematch in time that is no disqualification ruled. The Undertaker beating X-Pac was likely, no problem there in the first hour main event and a good one it was. 'Taker and Albert's exchange was however, odd. Kurt Angle's promo was fine, pretty much just set up for the match with Kane at No Way Out. Chris Benoit beating Val Venis is fine, good defense of the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Third title on the line tonight, too. Only problem is, I can't take Val seriously as an asskicking gimmick; especially if he lost to Benoit before anything. Tazz taking out Benoit is ironic, since he previously destroyed Right to Censor. Chris Jericho beating Rikishi is fine, would be a good match there. Hmm, weak main event. Kurt Angle and the Samoan Gangsters; not only am I not fond of Jamal and Kimo being in the WWF; this is way too soon. For them to be main eventing the top show on television from the company. But hmm, also Samoan Gangsters beating the Dudleys in the finish fall...Just too soon. Overall, it was a good show, but the main event was very bland.
