Okay here is something I've been completely confused/curious about. When everyone is saying that the Mattel figures are all "in scale", what does that mean exactly? Do the Mattel figures heights compare to that of the actual wrestler? Like for example, John Cena is 6'1" so does that mean the his Mattel figure is 6'1" (in figure size) and also Batista is 6'6" so his figure is 6"6" (in figure size) or does "in scale" mean something entirely different?

It means Batista's figure is taller than Cena's. Bourne is slightly taller then Rey, but shorter than HBK.

Youre on the right track but not quite. The figures are an average size of however many inches. Its the base size. However through use of different parts, mattel is able to make each wrestler taller or shorter than the 'standard size' so that when placed next to other figures, their heights are proportional to real life. E.g. Bourne is real small and thus his fig is smaller than say HHH who is a more standard size and these guys are all shorter than kane who is a fair height. Then you have Big Show is is taller again. Scale just means the figs are the right heights so that their is a height difference between each fig liekt here is in real life.
It doesnt have to do with numbers like you said. Of course the figure would have some proportion of scale to the real life person but the scale we talk about isnt about exact matching numbers. Just figs being tall or shorter compared to other figs.

^^^ kaneisdaman did a good job of explaining it. I doubt Mattel is doing exact scaling like 1 real inch= 1 mm. You know what I mean? They just want to get a realistic factor to the figures. As long as they look right, it's fine.

i was reading an article in toyfare and mattel said they did full body scans for "unique" body types like Big Show, Mark Henry and Rey Mysterio. aside from these 100% custom body types, they said they have 9 other more "standard" body types that they'll switch around to match the proportions of any given wwe superstar.
also, the company that's doing the scanning of their bodies/heads is the same company that helped JAKKS with RealScan Technology! i'm so stoked on all this, sorry to post on a thread that's seemingly all wrapped up, but i thought this useless tidbit of info fit best here.

I just hope the Divas are in scale with each other. such as height and Body types. that was the one thing that peeved me with jakks is they never put effort into the divas. they had all of three diffrent body types all with huge chests
Mickie has to be smaller then beth and not as thick. gail has to be taller then mickie but not as tall as beth and regular size. Michelle has to be taller then beth and skinny
get my point

Jericho should be really short and his figure isn't, Hair or Not. He's even dignificantly taller than HBK and barely shorter than HHH. I think in order to make the figure so good detail wise they ed with the scale.

The company that Mattel uses is Gentle Giant (who Jakks used as well). They create 3D outputs from digital scans which are then given to a sculptor to "clean up" and eventually finish. The scan is basically just the first step and gives sculptor the right direction for what the character should look like.

I am stoked to hear that Mattel is using full body scans from time to time.
I enjoyed Jakks' figures, but man, that has to say something about them when we have to get used to the concept of figures being "in scale!"

Naah.. I honestly feel that..
Chris Jericho is 5'11" at best with hair.. John Cena is a solid 6'2'' Triple H ranges around 6'4'' and HBK runs about 6' 1/2''
They still did a good job.. Better than Jakks had.. Cena should be a little taller, and Jericho a little shorter but O well.. I'll take it..
I have a question... Are Basic's and Elite's suppose to be the same scale?

So I'll be waiting to see how they come out myself...
