Hey WFers, I contacted Mattel and i'm waiting for a reply on why Canadians only get 2 of the 5 Elite Figures. Anyways, what're your thoughts on the reason of this weird situation I'm Canadian myself and I am one of those people that is really sad about this. Your Thoughts ? ~ 2BEMEV1

I must say, it may not actually be what you think. The packaging of the rey and taker both are missing the series 1 wording from the bottom right corner. I dont think they are supposed to be from Elite series 1. Perhaps they are canadian exclusives or pre production things.

See, the whole language translation may be even more proof that its some kind of canadian exclusive. Only get 2 figs from one series is a bit of a blow but its possible however to have the 'Series 1' missing from the carding does not sound right at all. Its absence leads me to think they cant be series 1 figs. It might be just a canadian exclusive and thats why it has the language translation too.

As much as I wish it to be a Canadian Exclusive, I very much doubt it. All of the figures we get up here have language translations because of the two official languages of Canada being English and French. Whether they're Star Wars figures, Hot Wheels, or wrestling figures, all of the carding has both English and French on them. So, that being said, I still don't know why we only would get two of the five, but I doubt very much that it is an exclusive of some kind.
And Trippin'InHD, let us know how you make it with Mattel. Their head office in Canada is within driving distance for me, so if you can't get anywhere, perhaps I can make a trip and ask some questions.

Thought that may have been the case but wasnt sure. Either way, the lack of series number on it has got to mean they arent supposed to be from the Elite series. Just like those signature series in the US have no series label on them.

At any rate, it really doesn't matter, because I'll probably order from RSC from now on, considering that even with shipping and the Canadian conversion, it's still less expensive than buying in stores! How hilarious is that?

I spoke to a collector not too long ago at a toy show and he actually spoke to someone who worked for Jakks Pacific and was told that the reason the Jakks figures were so difficult to get in Canada was the fact that by the time the figures were distributed within the US there wasn't much inventory for Canadian distribution.
Not sure weather this is true or not but if it is, I certainly hope this isn't the case with the Mattel figures.

If there was profit to be made, especially with Jakks, they would have started producing more for Canada, or shipping less to the US. Plus, if Jakks could ship to other continents, they could have done something with Canada.

As far as Mattel goes, there is a head office in Mississauga, Ontario. Now, it was noted on the packages of the Elite figures I purchased that they were made in China, but distributed through Mississauga. I wonder if that has any bearing at all?

Two things:
How is it cheaper getting figures from RSC than it is in stores? Every time I head to checkout, the shipping for a figure is basically what it would cost to buy a figure here anyway. $1.49 for the Micro Aggression Bret Hart, but $17.XX for shipping? what the heck is that? One CS figure alone usually costs that much to ship here, then the figures are usually around $14-$17 anyway. With that combined, you're looking at spending damn near $30-35 for ONE figure.\
Secondly, I won't be surprised if Canada gets shafted and doesn't receive all the figures in a series. Too many times to count, I would see CS waves not only get put on shelves months late, but only half the figures would be there. The last time CS was stocked anywhere here in British Columbia was CS19....19!! We fell so far behind the US it isn't even funny. Not to mention we BARELY got any CSTT packs or 3-Packs ever.

If Jakks was all gung-ho about their profits in Canada then I wouldn't have had to order from Ringside Collectables to complete my Jakks collection. I had a hell of a time tracking down figures from Jakks especially once the line was coming to an end.
I noticed that on the packaging it notes Mississauga, Ontario as a distribution location but apparently that doesn't mean much for Canadian collectors.

Funny that you mention this, endless. I actually mocked up an MVP and CM Punk Elite off of RSC just as a test. They were $14.99 US a piece, plus the $18 or so for combined shipping. When I converted it to Canadian, and compared it to the price I just paid at TRU for the Undertaker and Mysterio at $22.99 each Canadian plus tax, it was cheaper to ship them from RSC to my office in Ontario than it is to buy them in store by like 3 or 4 dollars! I mean, not the hugest of differences, but at the same time, it's still cheaper!

So you mean to tell me that MVP and Punk WITH shipping included, the total was less than $22.99 x 2 + PST & GST ?? I don't know how you got those numbers because I'm trying to simulate a test transaction for Elite CM Punk and the total that I'm getting with shipping is $33.48 USD. That doesn't sound like a good deal at all.

That doesn't sound like a good deal at all. Well, if you're only doing the CM Punk by itself, the shipping cost will be higher. When you combine multiple items, the shipping costs are lower per item. The shipping costs are the same if you order 1 or if you order 2 figures. I just mocked up a Punk as well, and it's 14.99 plus the 18.12 or so for shipping. However, if you combine a few items in there, the shipping stays the same. That being said, if you're going to order from RSC, try to combine a few orders if you can. This will save you on shipping down the road, and hopefully save you on altogether cost. Hopefully that helps, buddy.

Yeah dude, I just tried what you did and I saw what you're talking about. It definitely seems worth it to buy more than one figure. Going forward, RSC will most likely be where I go to buy my figures, most likely in bulk lol. =P
Trippin' In HD, did you receive any word back from Mattel Canada regarding the status of the rest of Elite Series 1 and when/if it will hit Canadian retail?
