I'm so exited now! At first I was pretty much like, "Great! More barren wasteland". But then when the city panned in and the Enclave(?) in the foreground appeared, I pretty much craped myself with excitement. Fall(out) cannot come quick enough!

That flag looks awfully russian-looking.

I think it's a California state flag. If the games go back to the style of gameplay from the earlier games, then count me out. I loved Fallout 3, but I'll admit I'd have a hard time liking it if it didn't play like Oblivion.

From the sounds of things, it should be nice since it seems like it could be a sequel story wise to the original games, but with Fallout 3 gameplay.

Looks great, I really hope they fix a bunch of bugs that were in the last game though.

As long as the gameplay is almost exactly FO3, count me in. I wasn't expecting it to be released this year thought so this is awesome news. I think I read somewhere that there will be vehicles in this one.

The flag is from the New California Republic, which is deeply involved in the Fallout lore. I have to admit, the trailer has gotten me pretty pumped. "New Moon" could top "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire" as a definitive Fallout song, although I don't think anything will ever come close to "Maybe". I wouldn't mind any changes in gameplay. It took me a while to adapt to Fallout 3 after spending so much time on Fallout 1 and 2, but I took the plunge and got used to everything because it's Fallout. I'm willing to give the same dedication to this one if it turns out halfway decent. I want to say that heads will roll if this isn't a good game, but to be perfectly honest, I enjoyed Brotherhood of Steel on the PS2. That's how much of a Fallout fanboy I am. And that thing ed over the lore like it owed it money. If I can put up with that, I can certainly put up with New Vegas. I honestly don't think BethSoft would have handed the reigns over, even for this not-sequel, unless they were absolutely sure this studio was going to create something good. BethSoft was able to help Fallout rise from the ashes and emerge as one of the defining moments of this generation of gaming, I just can't see a world where they'd be willing to throw it all away because they don't want to focus on a not-sequel and give to to a subpar studio. In the end I'll probably be buying this one.

Fallout Noob its an NCR flag Love the trailer, but a live city with electricity etc? Hmmmm Electricity is nothing new, though. Vault City, San Francisco (at least the areas with the Shi scientists), etc. etc. It's also strongly hinted in F3 that California is vastly ahead of the Capital Wasteland in terms of technology, and the main F2 ending specifically states that New Arroyo becomes a haven for technology and development. I wouldn't be surprised if BethSoft revealed that a large chunk of California is back on the lights, whether it be electricity or other power sources. F2 ended on a pretty positive note regarding the whole post-apocalyptic thing. Based on the actions of the Chosen One, we're led to believe that while everyone may not be ready to embrace each other with open arms, they'd be willing to work alongside each other to fulfill their goals. Plus, the Chosen One made some pretty powerful friends and became the leader of an advanced, thriving civilization, so he'd probably be able to get everyone to work together. That said, I would like some explanation on the city. There's plenty of lore to back up the lighted cities in California, but New Vegas is new territory and I do hope it gets addressed. But, hey, maybe this means we can have gambling mini-games! That'd be pretty awesome. I'd also like some more adult themes. I'm not saying we go all F2 where we can become porn stars, but I always felt like all the implied innuendo in F3 was a bit of a cop-out on BethSoft's part. And let us ing kill children already. The little ers. (And yes, I know there's a mod. Just my attempt at humor.)

How much different to 3 are Fallout 1-2, I know the overall "look" is different with a pseudo-isometric view of things? I was thinking of trying them out to get the whole "Fallout" vibe.

In terms of gameplay, there's a pretty big change. The best way I could sum up F1 and F2 would be "turn-based plus". You do have a movement bar and a specific amount of moves you're able to make in a given turn. There is a learning curve if you're going from F3 to F1 and F2, because I struggled with going from F1 and F2 to F3. However, like F3 both games are incredibly worth any strife the different gameplay mechanics will ever produce. Fallout is a landmark achievement in role-playing games. There's no other way to put it. Fallout 2 is also an incredibly fun experience. Overall both games deserve to be played by anyone even remotely a fan of post-apocalyptic stories or RPG's. I'd advise picking up "Fallout Trilogy" which contains F1, F2, and the strategy spin-off Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. In the end I've played all three games in the main Fallout trilogy to death, we're talking hundreds of hours per game here, and I always felt that it was time well-spent.

Yeah, I've been skeptical as to whether I should buy the three pack of the first two and tactics.
This trailer looks amazing, though.

I like. A lot. Along with UFC 2010 this may be the only two games I pre-order and pay in full this year so I can game on game-day.
