Why was it hated on so much and canceled after only two seasons. Ofcourse he wasn't as funny & dumb and slow as the Joey we saw on Friends. But in this spin off we see a more mature, more grown up Joey Tribbiani. I just bought Season 1 and love it, I don't understand the negative critisim it got and why it was canceled. Obviously it wasn't as good as Friends, but which TV show is anywhere near as good as Friends? I'm going to order season 2 from Amazon because it was only released in Canada for some reason.

It really wasn't a great show. I was a big fan of Friends and was looking forward to Joey, but it just didn't live up to the hype.

Depends on how you look at it. It was a ratings juggernaut and a mindless way to pass half an hour.

Joey was a good ensemble character who was basically a minor one with that cast. He was good for the one liners or the screwy storylines. But as a lead? No way will it ever last.

For the record I have to say How I met Your Mother is much better than friends, and pretty much the same formula. Back on topic... Im sure NBC paying him 700,000 an episode added up a little too fast.

Drea de Matteo looked smoking hot on this show. Not as hot as when she was on the Sopranos, but still smoking nonetheless.
Another show NBC yanked a bit too early - was The Tracy Morgan Show. Katt Williams was on it as well, and it didn't get enough time at all. I liked it.

I wonder if they'll mention it at all in the Friends Movie, probably not.

Well, Friends wasn't really that great, and he was the lest interesting character on it... I thought Phoebea was the least, then Joey and then Ross.

A spinoff based on Chandler and Monica might've worked. Young couple moving to a home in the 'burbs with newborn twins? Yeah, it's been done before, but it still could work.

I remember ir being an OK show.
However it was always going to be compared to the huge success of FRIENDS, and as a result looked bad with the viewers & ratings. kinda like Simpsons & Futurama I suppose

Joeys comedy was based on a double act with Chandler.without him it was flat.
and Ross was the least interesting and joint least likeable with Monica.
to think that Schwimmer actually thought a Ross show would work....

It really wasn't a great show. I was a big fan of Friends and was looking forward to Joey, but it just didn't live up to the hype. Agreed. I started watching it, but it got really bad. Plus it didn't make sense for him to leave, he made the big fuss over everything changing and when everyone stayed he left. Idiot.
