Wow, so months of buildup with Bret's return only for him to get a dump taken on him on the biggest show of the year?
but yeah..it would have been cool, had I never read this. If it happens now, it's not really "unexpected."

They could build Cena and Batista as Vince's Back Up/Chronies where they could decimate the tag division and win the unified tag titles. Only to run into a newly babyface team "The Hart Dynasty" and a returning Bret Hart. The feud could go on for awhile ultimately culminating with the Hart Dynasty winning the belts, being put over hugely, and Bret could have the last laugh and put Vince in the sharpshooter while the others watch. Vince could dissappear from tv for awhile and Batista and Cena could get in a feud over them losing the titles turning one of them face, probably Cena, and the Hart Dynasty can go onto a nice lengthy reign and other feuds. Just my two cents.

Man, that would be so awesome. The only thing that I think could work from it is if guys like Shawn & Undertaker side with Bret to take on Cena, Batista, & Vince in a kind of WWF vs WWE feud. They already laid the foundation with Bret & Shawn "making peace", and Undertaker getting involved with him alluding to Bret in his interviews. Of course, there will always be HHH as well...and the Hart Dynasty...
This could go on for a while and would really be great TV if they went with it and did it right! Much like Austin/USA vs. Harts in '97.

It would make no sense. Of course, that wouldn't stop WWE from doing it... he did it for the money, and was just lying to the fans all along? it would be amazing.

I'd prefer Cena go on to win the match. He poses with Bret Hart, then nails him with the FU. Vince McMahon enters the ring and applauds Cena, thinking he's joined Vince's side, but Cena FUs him too. Cena could be a heel lone-wolf type character, not relying on anybody except himself.

He'd be exactly where he is now in terms of reactions... they'll boo him for FU'ing Bret but then cheer more for FU'ing Vince... This makes a lot less sense than the original idea -_-

Yeah, I'd be all for it if there was a logical reason for him turning heel (in storyline, not because some of the IWC hate him as a face). I mean, the most shocking turn I can remember was Austin turning heel, and siding with Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 17. The storyline was that he'd sold his soul to Satan himself, to get to the WWF-by-God title. I was thinking he could use that whole "I live for the moment" thing. I mean turning on one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and shocking the world at the biggest stage of the year would be a pretty huge moment.

As great as it would be, I highly doubt it.

I'd love it.
Cena could be Vince's perfect champion, the new face of the company, similar to Rock/Vince back in 1998.

Bret needs to finish his story as he finally gets revenge on Mcmahon..... Then after that, sure... I could see it happening.

Bret most likely wouldn't be able to take an F-U.

Ultimately, from a business perspective, it would be the one thing that could elevate WWE into the next level. I think if Cena did screw Bret, making him the top heel in the company, there would be a heightened level of interest among fans casual and hardcore. Cena's merch sales might deplete, but the ratings would probably shoot up through the roof. Can you imagine how many people would tune in the night night on Raw? Just for the unpredictability factor of it, the company would be set for the next few months after that, at least. And with HBK and Taker on their way out, it might help set up the company for the long-term.
I think if and when they do turn Cena, they will have a perfect opportunity to establish a top face. So, like I said, business-wise, it's a smart call, though it wouldn't be a popular one, or even a possible one. I cannot see Bret coming back only to be screwed once again. At least on television. I know he and Vince are OK in real life, so it'd be interesting to see if Bret wants to make his redemption public, or if he's satisfied keeping it private. We'll have to see.
