I posted this on the jakks board, wanted to post it here
I was thinking about this today...why do you guys collect? is it the rush of finding that fig you've been searching high and low for? they way they look on display? for play?
For me, the rush is hard to beat...i also like to have them so i can re-enact/change certain fights/matches (i collect ufc as well)
so...why do you?

Well i use mine for stop motion and play, but generally I just like hunting for them and buying them and the joy of when an order arrives and looking at them.

I don't play with them what so ever and that goes for all figures I buy, not just WWE. Fair play to people who do, however. I buy them to display them! I've only recently started buying WWE figures again, of course because of Mattel. I had tonnes of WWE figures when I was little but I played with them then, and had no idea about collecting. If i'm fond of a character from film, game, sport etc I like having them displayed next to my telly or computer or shelf. They're just cool to look at IMO.

For all of the above. I love it... I love going out to look for them, even though it gets tedious at times. And, I love playing out my fed, especially after it's long tenure and history. And, having amazing displays is a fantastic way to keep my room... People seem to be quite impressed when they see it too.

i don't know if it's because my parents bought me too many toys as a kid, or too little.
i was going to stop when i met the girl who became my wife, but she didn't seem to mind. she's cool with me collecting as long as it doesn't come between us and our monthly bills.
but i'm a loose collector who's using the figs to do with the championships and feuds what I think they should be in "real life" (my fave current storyline was that Mark Henry won ECW's Hardcore Homecoming tourney - and since ECW's defunct, he refuses to stop using the belt - until someone beats him for it.) - my storylines echo what's happening in the WWE but the outcomes are up to me (and since i don't have a Shaemus or an HBK mattel yet - HHH v. Taker is what's going down at my WM)

I buy figures for the thrill of the hunt and to have a fun hobby. I love to display them too! My Mattel setup looks awesome, so I'm really happy to be collecting this line. Jakks stuff was cool for the time, but Mattel has blown me away with their stuff. I get really excited going out on the figure hunt. It's something I really enjoy.

As flashback wrote above, I too like the thrill of the hunt. Especially when you find that one you've been looking for, or when you come across one you know the retailer should'n't have put out yet!

I guees I am just addicted! Ever since I first watched wwf primetime in 86 with my grandfather who loved wrestling,I always wanted figures of these bigger than life superstars to recreate my own outcome of some classic battles.I would be able to have that jobber win the match he lost.My grandfather really got me in to pro wrestling not just wwe but also awa, nwa, njpw&aaa. He would also help me find alot of figs and help my figure fed grow. After he passed away in 95'.I just couldn't stop what we both started watching and collecting.I just wish he could see all the real superstars and figs he has missed since he passed. So now that Mattel has stepped up here we go again grandpa!
