I know of a mentally intellectually- disabled person and I believe he is being abused. Not physically, but emotionally. The people parade him around like he is some sort of barnyard animal, dressing him in weird get ups and mock him. They are not in the circus and he is not an act. Is there anyone I can do? What, apart from Velvet Sky?

From a movie, but based on an actual person. Google the elephant man Gary Busey. Fixed it. LOL Scary too he is wack!

Maybe try asking the parents if they are aware of the situation then maybe they will sort it out.

I'm just curious as to what the context of you hanging with teenagers is?
If this is in a school setting, i'd talk to the social workers or principals. If it's in some other setting I would just intervene. You're a big guy, they'll be intimidated.

no pics no proof! Maybe the kid likes it. Did you ever think about that?? And your use of the word "intellectually- disabled person" is also quite offensive . You should know that.

Leave the intellectually- disabled person alone. If he's happy thinking that they're his friends, who are you to take that away?

I love how you still call the kid a intellectually- disabled person or whatever and try to sound nice about helping him. Stuff like this has been going on for ages. The kid thinks he has friends and is probably happy doing whatever, so why fight with that? It's going to break the kid if someone tells him the truth or whatever.
Then again, they're kids man, you really don't know their demeanor. If they're constantly chilling with the kid outside and stuff, they're not embaressed by him or hate him or anything. Just be glad someone's showing the kid attention and he's not inside playing video games all day.

Hurricane is still hurting. ;D I'm just curious as to what the context of you hanging with teenagers is? If this is in a school setting, i'd talk to the social workers or principals. If it's in some other setting I would just intervene. You're a big guy, they'll be intimidated. Not hanging out with them.....just see them in public places. It is not a school. And as far as intervening, it wont work as the intellectually- disabled person believes its a good thing. I am not trained in this type of matter. Wait, I've got it! I've figured it out! Showstopper.....you're being abused, aren't you? Yes, thank you for outing me. I love how you still call the kid a intellectually- disabled person or whatever and try to sound nice about helping him. Calling him a intellectually- disabled person is b/c when I googled it, the medical term was mentally intellectually- disabled. I thought it was mentally challenged, but evidently I was wrong. intellectually- disabled person, in my best Allen from the Hangover impression, seemed ok. And yes, I understand its been going on for ages. However, this is a public mockery of the man and is just not needed.

I agree, either police or possibly some school officials if you and him are still in school. Definitely tip my hat to you for standing up for him though and trying to get help. shows alot of good character in yourself.

Leave it if you don't know him too well. I know it's bad to see but it shouldn't bother you if you don't know him personally.

I would attempt to talk to that intellectually- disabled person's parents.

Call Child Protective services if they're under 18, and if they're over 18 call Adult Protective services. If you area doesn't have that call the police.

I used to live nextdoor to a house full of retards. One day I was in my room smoking a cigarette and I kept hearing knocking on the side of the house. I looked outside and this intellectually- disabled person was nailing the house with a tree branch. I called the police on him. So I left.
