DO NOT READ UNTIL AFTER YOU’VE READ DARK DESIRES. SPOILERS WITHIN!
WCWA Dark Desires footnotes:
Following WCWA Dark Desires, WCWA offices have been booming with news. Not even waiting for the live Synthetic, WCWA Vice President and Senior Referee Jason Verdoes released a three page press release this morning with the following bullet points.
Arsenal & Freakshow released
With the new influx of talent coming into WCWA, certain roster spots need to be freed up. Unfortunately, some people feel as though they can simply walk into WCWA, be friends with someone, and will get a job. This is the case with Freakshow. Freakshow was given a chance in WCWA, even a match on Pay Per View as an impromptu fill in match, but did not impress management and has been cut from his pay per appearance contract. The main reason he is being cut comes because his friend, Arsenal, has also been cut from the WCWA roster. Arsenal appeared in the King of the Death Matches tournament, in short of a last chance match. A do or die match. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, Arsenal was eliminated in the first round of the King of the Death Matches tournament. We at WCWA strive to have the very best wrestlers in the world and Arsenal obviously can no longer compete at this level. We wish them best in their future endeavors.
Ricochet released
Also on the cutting block is Ricochet. Since signing with WCWA, Ricochet has had an unlimited amount of potential with some tremendous flips and amazing high risk moves in his arsenal, but unfortunately, never followed through on any of this. Even when paired with Delirious in hopes to mimick the success of the Aerial Assault, Ricochet failed to deliver. With wrestlers of a very similar style in Pac and Jack Evans both achieving high level gold, we at WCWA know the issue isn’t with the styles, but rather Ricochet, so we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
Joker heading overseas
The impromptu match that was inserted in Dark Desires was inserted for a reason. It was Joker’s final appearance in WCWA, at least for a while. “The Cambodian Axe Murderer” has a more important job at hand than being the muscle for the BLK Out. He is heading back to Iraq to serve our country. Your job is safe when you return. God speed, Joker.
Michael Nakazawa released shortly
With the releases by force also comes one in request. Japanese star Michael Nakazawa has requested his release, which will come into effect when WCWA appears in Japan for “Open the WCWA Gate”. Nakazawa will continue to tour with WCWA until the Japanese tour stops, at which poin the will simply return home and to wrestle for his former home promotion in Japan, DDT. Nakazawa has been nothing but a company man and we wish the former World Television champion the best in his future.
Hall of Fame foot notes
Were you one of the hundreds that tuned into Showtime 2 on Saturday night looking for the Hardcore Hall of Fame ceremony, only to find the 2005 John Malkovich movie “Color Me Kubrick” airing? Unfortunately, the Hardcore Hall of Fame did not air due to a last minute programming change. Showtime 2 offered us a syndicated timeslot of 4 PM on Tuesday, but we turned them down. The Hardcore Hall of Fame will be included in it’s entirety with the Dark Desires DVD release, but for now, here are some significant moments from the two hour event:
- Marty Jannetty‘s induction was an absolute disaster. Beef Wellington started by making a series of bad jokes that no one really understood. Then, when Jannetty approached the podium, Beef tripped him. Jannetty began to make his speech, but someone thought it would be funny to immediately play him off. A frustrated Jannetty exited the stage.
- A tearful Necro Butcher inducted one of his hero‘s, Bruiser Brody, into the Hardcore Hall of Fame, along with longtime friend of Brody, Maniac Matt Bourne. Bourne returned to his seat following the induction, where he was seated next to Beef Wellington.
- During Terry Funk’s induction from The Necro Butcher, Brain Damage and Joey Eastman rushed the stage in an attempt to rain on the parade. Damage caught a big bare foot from Necro and Terry Funk smashed Eastman with his Hall of Fame trophy, sending both scurrying away. Necro, unsatisfied, threw the entire podium at Brain Damage, destroying the set as we went off the air.
