EA Sports officially announced that their long time basketball franchise NBA Live will now be titled, NBA Elite. The news broke out via website PastaPadre, who revealed the story from the July 2010 issue of Official Xbox Magazine.
A spokesman from EA Sports spoke to Kotaku about the name change briefly after the news broke out: “We knew it was time to leave the past behind. We have exciting and significant changes coming to our NBA game this year that will usher in the future of basketball video games. We look forward to releasing information on exactly how we’ll be doing that over the next few months.”
The OXM reports that NBA Elite will be bringing real-time physics to the court, as well as a context-sensistive right analog stick, which will now be used for ball-handling and shot taking.
EA Sports seems to be aiming to give the series a rebirth, and hopes to differentiate itself from the competition.
