Well I think mattel and TRU pulled a rookie move. One that is completelly unfair might I add....
Went to TRU in times square NYC today and the first thing I see- Basic and ELITE 4!!! Excpet it was only an illusion. Two big binns full of basic 4 MVP and elite 4 Kofi. Don't want either of them. Where the heck are the rest of the sets. Two people told me whatever we have out in the WWF (lol) section is all we have. The third guy tells me that since MVP and Kofi will be sighing autographs at TRU on sat thats all they were allowEd to put out. After they leave then they can put the rest of the shipment out. Told me to come back Sunday!

It more likely that they were sent MVP and Kofi only cases for the signing.

I actually think this is a good idea from a business standpoint. Only sending out cases of MVP and Kofi is a good idea for the upcoming signing. They will sell all of those figs in a short amount of time.

I dont think its that wrong to be honest, its for the signing clearly.
Its not like they had the set out and didnt allow you to buy them. Its just the same as if you were to of went and they didnt have any Elite 4 or Basic 4. He even told you that Sunday they will have the rest of the set out. So go back then if you can, if not then i'm sure in the coming week or 2 you'll be able to find em.
Not trying to sound like A jerk here but i'm just saying I dont think it was "Wrong" of them to do so. Its just out there now because of A signing...
Dont think of it as they only released 1 of each and they wont release the others yet. Think of it as they released two of them early for the signing and the rest will be there next week.

Given the extenuating circumstances, that makes complete sense to me. If they ran out of those two guys during the signing, everyone would be calling them idiots for not planning ahead. It is like a solid PR campaign. Like someone else said, just think of them as not released yet until Sunday. Hell, you have a fairly solid idea of when you will be able to get the figures you want. That puts you ahead of a lot of us.

Glad to see I'm not the only one hunting for that Kofi. I'm glad I've skipped the Basic figures of him now. The scan is just SO killer and on point.

How is it wrong? They are promoting an event with those 2 wrestlers appearing, and the only way to get an autograph is to purchase $50 worth of WWE merchandise, in that $50 must be either a Kofi or MVP item. And one autograph per person. It's a marketing ploy, a smart one at that. Just go the hell back on Sunday. Not a big f***ing deal.

To be sure they wouldn't run out of Kofi & MVP wouldn't make more sense to NOT put those two figures out in the store and save them for the signing? It would make the figures more exclusive. Whatever isn't sold during the signing can be placed in the store afterwards. Btw When I was in the Times Square TRU some years ago they had walls full (litteraly hundreds) of Weequay and Hammerhead figures in the Star Wars section.... and no other Star Wars figures. So I think that TRU just buys in poorly. |

Kofi and MVP are going to be there cause WWE is having a supershow at the garden later that night (next Saturday) that I'm going to. Even if I wanted to go to the autograph session I couldn't. You have to spend $50 on wwe mattel at the NYC TRU. How can I do that if all the new product is in the back and the walls are coverd with figures I baught months ago! |
