:Week 2:
UGF Argonauts (0-1) VS BYU Cougars (0-1)
This Mountain West conference game got off to a bit of a slow start. The Argos needed 10 plays to get the TD, fighting off two offensive penalties, and finally ending the drive with a 22 yard TD strike from QB Anthony Joseph. The first quarter came to a close as the Cougars were still on their first drive. On the first play of the second, however, BYU's offense finally took it in for 6. UGF's 3rd down defense on that 14 play, 3 and a half minute drive was non-existant, giving up good chunks of yardage each time. UGF HB Marcus Cox used their 2nd drive to show off his ability, gaining all of the yards for his team. A 3rd down incompletion led to a Great Falls FG. BYU fumbled the ball on their next possession, turning it over. Great Falls couldn't capitalize on the opportunity, and was forced to punt. Later on in the 2nd quarter, UGF was driving, looking to expand the lead. But QB Anthony Johnson made a costly mistake, throwing an INT.
The score at halftime: UGF 10 - 7 BYU
BYU's opening 2nd half drive was stopped early on. UGF's first drive of the 3rd quarter was also brought to a halt. Johnson was hit during a pass attempt, the sailing ball was intercepted by a BYU linebacker. UGF wouldn't despair for long, though. A BYU wide out fumbled the ball, which an Argo linebacker scooped up and took to the house. BYU bounced back from the turnover, rushing it in for another TD. The Argonauts answered right back on their first offensive play of the series, by way of a 77 yard touchdown pass. The 3rd quarter ended on that note. Early on in the 4th, an impressive Argo drive was held to just a field goal. With just over 2 minutes to go, BYU's HB punched it in for his 3rd rushing TD of the day. But it may prove to be too little, too late. UGF simply ran the clock out to end the game.
FINAL SCORE
UGF Argonauts 27 - 21 BYU Cougars
