I'm sure by now people have seen that I really want the Jake Roberts figure from Legends 2. I saw that others on here are now finding them in Target so I took a ride over there. I walked down the isle and saw sitting in front was Legends 2 Snuka. There was a whole row behind him but the only other figure from Legends 2 was Iron Sheik. So I figured they must have just put out these two since there is no more room. I walked over to one of the Target workers and asked the girl if they happened to have any in the back. She was really nice and scanned the figure for me and I guess she saw that there was more. She said I'll be right back just wait here. She comes back a minute later and says "sorry but the supervisor says we can't bring collectibles out from the back to let shoppers pick from. All we can let you buy is whatever is on the shelf as it's one of our policies". I was angry so I came home and called up the Target store and spoke to the manager. She basically said "yes it is a store policy for any collectors item (figures, hot wheels, trading cards etc). We do it to stop vendor's & scalpers from picking and choosing what they want. The figures come in an assortment and we can't just be opening new cases". I told her ok but the box is obviously open because there is only two from the set sitting there. She said "I understand that but we can't put anymore out until those two on the shelf sell. We do this to try and be fair to everyone". This has to be one of the stupidest store polices I have ever heard of. I mean who cares who buys the product in your store. They would be making the money either way no matter what. It just angers me that they have what I want but refuse to bring it out from the back so I can buy it. They've had Legends 1 sitting there for 2-3 weeks now and they aren't selling. So I assume the rest of Legends 2 will sit in the back for a long time since I don't see Snuka or Sheik selling either. Sorry if that was a long read but I just needed to vent my frustration and anger for Target now.

Some Target stores around me have this policy as well. I've had employees agree to get items from the back for me, only to have a manager intercept them and tell them not do it. As long as stuff is selling, they shouldn't give a damn who buys it.

Sorry if that was a long read but I just needed to vent my frustration and anger for Target now. I'm not sure how I feel about the policy. I kinda think it's a decent rule. I mean for years people on this site have bitched and moaned for stores to do something to stop vendors and scalpers from buying up figures. Now a store has a policy that prevents someone from having cases brought out from the back so someone can't have access to figures not on the shelf yet and people are gonna come on here and vent aka bitch and moan. But this is a step they can take to stop scalpers from picking up everything, not calling you a scalper but how else would target monitor this how are they gonna know who a scalper is and who is a joe shmo? This seems like a fair rule to me.

Once a LONG time ago I worked at a dept, store and scalpers would come in the second the store opened. They would ravage through everything and take all the good stuff. Then parents would come in an hour later and all the good stuff was gone.
So I'd assume that is what they are trying to eliminate. Still sucks though. I'd attack that Target first thing the next couple of days. Maybe you'll get lucky.

The thing is there isn't even any scalpers around here that take WWE figures. I always end up getting the first pick at any WWE product I want. I think other than me the only people in this area that buy them are little kids.
I don't understand why they would rather have something sit in the back when I'm willing to buy it. Who cares if I buy it for myself or if someone buy's it to sell for profit. Either way the store is getting the $15 for the figure and moving their stock.

well ive had a similar problem at my target and they said while there is prooduct on the shelf they can't pull anymore out. well i came back a day or 2 later put the figures in my cart and moved it to another aisle asked for help to see if they have anymore figures since the shelves are empty and voila they brought out a new case and stocked it with the new figures. Now if they have a ton of figures out this won't help as when i did this they only had about 6 on the shelves. But either way it is one possibility that might work for you.

Here is a solution. Purchase a few figures in the morning. Go back in the evening and tell them you are looking for one that is not on the shelf (there will be a managerial shift change). They should stock the remaining figures. Purchase what you want. Go back to your car and return the figures you purchased in the morning.
Also, I would ask for the contact information of their district manager/file a phone complaint. I do not think they have the authority to deny you an available product on that basis, but I could be wrong. Obviously, you are not a scalper.
Update: Kollecting King's solution is probably more efficient.

I haven't had that problem before in fact if I need something I have just told them the particular item I want and they go to the back look and if they find it they bring it up for me. I have a feeling this manager is either new or just a total @$$ to follow the rules like that.

Haha I was going to post exactly this. There is a Target by my house that I can walk to it's so close. I'm in there weekly for groceries and other necessities and have seen the same CM Punk basic in there for MONTHS and they never stock any new ones. I've never had any success at any Target though it's always the same crap they have out. They did put up the Legends Series 1 which surprised me so now that you mention the policy it makes sense. Well enough was enough I grabbed Punk and a few others that have been collecting dust and hid them in the furniture section in some desk drawers and behind some oriental rugs. Going back tonight to report my findings.

My target when you check the price tells you if they have any in the stockroom so idk if they would bring it out or not.

This has been Target's policy for years. I had an issue with it back when Hasbro was releasing the first removable mask Batman Target exclusive in their DC 9" line. But they do it because if the scalpers get all the items they lose business in the long run because people will stop shopping there for other items as well. But normally I ask the same employees all the time and they know what I collect so they always go into the back and help me out if there's more in the stockroom. The only time I ever hear about that policy now is if it's at a Target I normally don't got to. My target when you check the price tells you if they have any in the stockroom so idk if they would bring it out or not. More than likly they will. 95% of the time I have no trouble with them bringing out product if it says there's more in the stockroom.

I've been told that before. But, there IS a solution. When an employee doesn't help me I walk to the stockroom myself and wait to see people inside it passing by. I usually flag someone down and they pull whatever I need. It works out just fine.

I tried the price scanner first to check but all it says here is the product name, the item number and price. That's why I asked a worker and when she scanned the figure it showed there was more in the back. Which would have been the other 4 figures in Legends 2. I guess when she went back to grab the rest the supervisor stopped her and wouldn't let her bring the remaining figures out due to that policy.

This policy is specifically created for the morning scalper rush. Most Targets will have employees that will go back and pick up what you want unless it is Hot Wheels, McFarlane Sports, or possibly Star Wars, as those are the collectors that historically have been the biggest pain in their sides. I can understand, especially after working at a toy store for 5 years. Hiding the figures, then asking for them to bring out the rest should work just fine. If there is nothing on the shelf, they will bring them out.

Wow that sucks. Never heard of this before. I would go nuts in target of this happens to me lol. I simply found an employee at Target today who had a scanner gun that "I was looking for the other guys in this set. I only see 2 out of the 6. Do you have more in the back?" he scanned and asked me who I wanted. Before I could answer he told the women on the walkie talkie to bring a whole case out so I can take whatever I want.

Every Target I have been to in the past 14 months has had signs on the action figure pegs stating the policy. It has been 2 years since I have been able to get an employee at a Target to check the backroom for any toys.
For anyone that has been able to get anything from a Target consider yourself lucky.

I guess the supervisor was back there and stopped her from bringing out the rest of the figures to me. I might go back in a couple days and try to ask someone else and see what happens.
