I usually have never had a bad experience at mine with the employees. It is just their lack of inventory. But I went last night, and they were actually stocked pretty good and the girl that checked me out was super nice.
But I really made the big haul at Walmart. They had all of Legends series 1 and 2 minus Kamala

Hey bro Kinda funny i read this. I used to work at that TRU and she is bullsh*tting u. If I still worked there I would have been more than happy to bring the boxes down for u and check the stockroom too. From the sound of it was this lady spanish looking with long hair? If so her name is Evelyn. I know how everyone is there and even if you were to go to a manager which she is too they wouldnt help and give u the same crap excuse. If u need any help there let me know and I'll be happy to give you the names of some people that will help you out. Also the scan crap only happens in the stockroom. If the boxes are on the top of the shelves it is just overstock that cant fit in the back.

I remember when a girl at Kay-Bee (RIP - I even worked at that store once) got up on a ladder and looked through figures to find me the Highlanders 2-pack a few years ago. So not all employees are jerks or lazy. The people at my TRU are very friendly and nice. You can't control the way other people behave buy you can control yourself, so just chill. I also haven't found Kelly Kelly (or Melina) yet, either. And I don't think anybody has found Basic 6 at TRU yet, anyway, have they?

I worked at TRU for nearly a decade and she was not doing her job.
Floor associates are there to help customers period.
Any stock arriving on the truck or fresh off the truck shows as being on the floor until it is physically scanned into and placed in an inventory bay.
If the boxes were on the floor they were already out of the stockroom inventory, No scanning needed or they hadn't been scanned in at all and went right from the truck to the floor. It happens a lot that way with ad items or new products.
Unless someone either didn't or couldn't get them scanned out.
It happens - Not everyone is shown how to use a scanner and trained for stockroom activity and once in a while the floor people just have to go grab stuff and get it removed from the stockroom inventory later.
I find that unlikely that that's what happened though, because of the placement of the cases and think they probably just had them at the ready for the special.
I hate to say it because I know how terrible it can be to work the floor but she was out of line and I think you should maybe complain.
My TRU would constantly understaff and literally would have two people covering the sales floor, helping guests, cleaning, straightening, and restocking. It's not fun but there is no excuse for not grabbing a ladder and helping a "Guest" out.

thanks for all the responses everyone, it's funny cause I worked at TRU for a while also in Yonkers, NY and whenever anyone needed something I always did what I could, whether it was go on the computer to see if the item was in stock or actually go in the back or on top of the caps to see if i could get the item for the customer, she was just being a lazy bitch, while i'm sure it wasn't basic 6, it could have been basic 5 which might have had a 1/1000 or something like that, regardless it was still rude

When I worked at FYE (a music retail store) we were not allowed to let a box leave the back room until it was scanned it so we wouldn't lose track of out inventory so she is full of it. She prob walked up to a manger and said something like" this guy wants me to grab a ladder and go through those boxes and I don't feel like it" the manger said ok and she ed you out the figures. Funny thing is it's not like it's going to hurt them or you if you spend money in their store. But at my TRU everyone who works there pretty much knows me and they always let me know what they got in. I ever worked with one of the people who works there when I student taught! Even the employees I don't know are still nice and patient with me. If I were you I would report them in a e-mail. It's a shame really because TRU loses money when a loyal customer gets treated like crap. It's a lose lose

as an ex TRU Manager I can tell you its BS.
First of all, when the Shipment comes off the trucks, THE Recievers in the back scan each box in, why so they are in inventory, They then get loaded onto U-Frames to be taken out and unloaded on the shelves. if they are in the overhead, which btw TRU Frowns on. They are up there as Overstock. and thus can be brough down at any time. if that happends again. find one of the chip clips with merch hanging off of them, or a Lightsaber etc. and knock them down. they cant kick you out, they are not allowed, unless you are stealing

I have also had a bad experience at TRU. When the CSDA Chainsaw Charlie came out i went to TRU and seen that they had all of them but Chainsaw Charlie. When i asked an employee if they had anymore in back he said he would go and check. After standing in there for what felt like forever. This other employee asked if she could help me and i told her that someone eles was already checking for me and i told her his name. She then told me that he had already clocked out for the day. I usually go to the TRU closest to me because one of my friends from high school works there and he will help me find what i am looking for.

Unfortunately, it was likely store policy. Most folks who work at toy stores or stock toy shelves have no concept of the collecting public and just do what they are told, for better or worse. If the boss says don't put more out until the ones we have on the shelf sell, that's probably what they will do. EDIT: Read the rest of the thread. Nevermind, sounds like you had a bad experience On a side note, there was nothing cooler than looking up at Toys R Us and seeing an unopened case of Hasbros and having someone pull them down and seeing 6 or 7 figures you didn't know where coming out. Good times!

Good times! A boss would never say that or they wouldn't be boss for long. I worked for TRU as a assistant manager on Rt 4 in Paramus NJ in the early 90's and you were expected to help the customer out anyway you can. Laziness was never tolerated and the norm was that you looked for what the customer wanted if it was scanned in. The idea is to make money and if you have it in stock you better go look for it to be sold.

at the retail store that i use to work for they would not allow us to open boxes unless the shelves needed to be re-stocked and i don't know how TRU works but at the store i worked at you would need an scanning gun to scan in all the merchandise to update the system - i actually saw a TRU employee doing this 2 nights ago. that's how they keep count of how many items they have in stock in the store just in case a customer wants more of the one item than what that store has. so in a way she was not feeding you BS.

That really sucks she was BS'n you. I work at TRU and the only scanning that would be done to wwe figs is to scan the backstock into the stock room. I always try to help all customers no matter what they are looking for and if I open up new boxes I just tape them up. No one really cares as long as it gets put out or away to backstock and the new items get put into the stores inventory system the night before or the day of the trucks.

Sorry about your bad experience bro. I stopped in to TRU today and the employee was not only helpful, but he actually knew what he was talking about. I asked if they had gotten any WM 26 figures in yet. He walks me through the aisle and points out what they put on the shelves recently. He then checked the system and told me to call next Friday as that was when he will be in the stocking department and he told me to ask for him personally and he would tell me everything they get in. His name was Greg; really nice guy.

I talked to a guy at my TRU and he seemed very nice. He informed me that they thought they were getting the single pack WM26 figs in but they only got the two packs. He was very helpful.

You would think with the economy the way it is, that they would do something for a customer to get a sale.
I know where I work, we do everything in our power to get the person what they want.

I went to the TRU in Wilkes-barre, PA yesterday. I checked the shelves and they have had the same figures for the last 2 weeks. they get the trucks on wednesday, i went on a thursday. they didn't stock the shelves and i figured i would ask someone. I went up to a manager as she was talking with another employee, i said "excuse me" and she gave me a rude look. i then asked if they had any elite figures series 4 or tna impact series 1 in the back. she then said "everything we have is out on the floor." without even checking, then proceeded with the rest of her conversation. Needless to say, I was pissed. everytime i go there, i am tempted to just walk into the back and look myself.

I always just open the cases. I found my 1 out of 1000 Hurricane doing that. I scan every pallet at WalMart, TRU, Kmart, whereever, and if I see a WWE box, I'll slide my carkey through the tape, and go through it

well well well, TRU has reared its ugly head again...
I travel from NY to Philly on a regular basis and today i went to the TRU in Cherry Hill, NJ hoping to find the rest of the WM figures I'm looking for (found Kane) but i'll get to that in a second... I found Matt Hardy yesterday at Oxford Valley TRU, and I also noticed that the Franklin Mills TRU had the space for WM figures and the lady told me the truck came in on Friday, so after waking up early to be there by the time the store opened (just to make sure I didn't miss out on Rey Mysterio cause i'm sure collectors will want to snag him to sell on eBay) I found that they didn't get anything in besides a case of basic 5 so the WM spot is still empty... so i left there.
Now back to my beef with the Cherry Hill TRU, i went there with my girlfriend about 2 hours after going to the first TRU, I had written down all the UPC and Item #s so they could look it up for me at customer service, a simple service that I have had no problem with in the past.
The lady at the customer service counter preceded to give me the BIGGEST attitude i have ever seen at a TOY store. When i politely asked if she could look up the #s for me she gave me a story about how its hard work (to punch in some numbers...) and that she has to use TWO programs to do it *gasp!!* I told her OKAY SO DO IT, because quite frankly it's ridiculous to me that she would even bitch about it.
After huffing and puffing for several seconds she decided that the computer and their system was down so she couldn't look it up for me. She also tried to tell me that the sets come by assortments and she won't be able to tell me which they specifically have, which I told her was fine because i want to see them all and perhaps even buy them all if I like them when I do find them. It was pretty unbelievable to me that she made such a big deal over this, i forgot to mention that she also pretty much called me a liar when she asked "couldn't I look this up online" which I replied no to because toysrus.com doesn't allow you to see where an item is in stock or not on wrestling figures, so she basically called me a liar and even had another employee tell me that i was wrong because she was too lazy and too inept to help me. Really nice.
After I left that TRU i called one in Burlington, NJ to see if she could look up the numbers for me, the lady was incredibly nice and in 5 minutes was able to see if any stores in the Philly and NJ area had them, she said no and that was it, didn't take much effort and helped me tremendously, unlike the bitch at Cherry Hill.
