This is very sad, but am I the only one who notices a frightening trend...? It's all just a coincidence. I mean this man was like 8 feet tall and he has been in failing health for years. His problems had nothing to do with wrestling but more with his height.

This is very sad, but am I the only one who notices a frightening trend...? I noticed that we've lost a lot of wrestlers from the 1993 WWF roster this year. First Borga, then Luna, then Booger, now Gonzalez.

He was far from a great wrestler, but I could never forget watching him in the ring.

Damn....I remember not too long ago I did the "Blast From The Past" article on him in the classic section and said then that we were lucky he was still with us because giants like him unfortunately do not live long.
And another one to die at a young age...44 years old...Man..But that is not uncommon with giants, like I said. But still, it is another young death in wrestling. These poor guys and girls just can't seem to make 50 years old.
And if they do make 50, they don't live much longer. I mean, Mike Shaw died at 53, which is still a young death.
I still have 2 of his action figures MOC. The WWF Hasbro one and his rare WCW El Gigante.
He will be greatly missed.
R.I.P.

Wow, he was only 44? It's sad, but not overly surprising. Large people like that tend to have more health problems.

Rest In Peace Big man. You will be missed, and I'm sure everyone will remember your WM match with Taker.

Gonzalez died when he was 44. Andre was 46. Big John Studd was 47. Giant Haystacks was 52. "Paul Bunyan" was 56. Giant Baba was 61.
Those were all wrestlers 6'10" and over.
Khali is 38. Big Show is 38. Kane is 42. Undertaker is 48.
So I don't know if it is just coincidence that they died and were tall or if their being tall hindered them and lead to an early death.
If it is the latter than the last 4 I listed better watch out.

I am very saddened by this. While he wasn't the best wrestler he was certainly someone to take notice of. He apparently had health problems for awhile. RIP El Gigante, Giant Gonzalez.

Glad to have his figure, he is an entertaining part of wrestling history, even if you think he was a joke, at least he made an impression.

Big Show was caught early and had operation/s to hault the problem so he should be fine. (to do with grow hormones) Khali has'nt and it will become a big problem for him unfortuatly

While sad, this actually doesn't come as much of a shock. Also, 'Taker is not 48.
