I'm not sure how they can capture someone who is no longer with us through scanning, I'd assume that would require a very damn good sculptor. In any case, it was ludicrous for someone to say Mattel doesn't use scanning, when that video was even on WWE.com. Very true. But no more ludicrous than people who'd comment on how good/bad Pillman's "scan" is, for example. I wonder if it's a different sculpting team that works on the legends figures, some of the heads there are better than the current-roster scans. I don't know who they have doing the sculpting, but who ever it is deserves a raise on those Legends figures. Some of the likenesses are so spot on it's absolutely incredible. I'd put Legends 2 Kamala up against ANY other figure as far as the likeness to the head and face goes, I'm still blown away by that one. Mr. Perfect is my second favorite from the Legends line, just captured him wonderfully. Honestly, some of the heads Mattel has produced remind me of Yulli and JC Hong's work from Hot Toys - and if anyone has not heard of them, or the company, look em up. I know that is saying a LOT, but for mass retail 1/12 scale action figures, some of what we have gotten is just top notch.

Why do people keep referring to the heads as "scans"? This isn't Jakks anymore, there is no more "Real Scan". Mattel uses sculptors to design their action figures, there is no scanning involved. Actually Mattel said in a ToyFare magazine last year (Had Elite HHH & Cena on the cover) They were also using Gentle Giants Studios to get their 3D scanning of the wrestlers. And as far as deceased wrestlers go I'd guess they scan them like they did for Jakks. And when GGS made them for Jakks they said they use photos of the wrestler from all different angles/views to make their 3D scan.

People always claim the scanning of pictures for deceased wrestlers, but as far as I ever knew that was only ever discussed as a theoretical possibility in the future and not something they actually did due to cost reasons and the technology just not being there yet.

Deceased wrestlers are sculpted, not scanned...
Heck, we even had a sculptor posting on the board here for a short while who explained how it worked.
People must have missed it.

But as for the superstars basically all the scans are great. I wish they would show us some nice pictures so I could see Chris Masters clearly.

I absolutely love Mattel and I'm in love with damn near everything show, but gotta say... Chris Masters before Zack Ryder is ing unbelievable. If I didn't know any better I'd swear they're going out of their way to NOT make him. Looking at some of the people we've gotten.. Mike Knox Hurricane Chris Masters Ezekiel Jackson(Who was irrelevant and had been off-screen for MONTHS when he was produced)Primo Yoshi Tatsu Luke Gallows ...and yet they dance around even just mentioning Ryder. It's about the only thing Mattel has done that REALLY annoys me. Mattel says it takes 6+ months to get someone out, so when they started on him it would have been around the time he was getting his push to the ECW Championship so no point in stopping what they had started . It is crazy though that Primo has 2 figures already and Ryder has none I think if we get a Ryder aswell they will likely do him in his new trunk attire and miss doing him in one legged attire
