I think they are trying to capture an angry look in his face. I may be wrong though.

Does anyone else agree that Both the Warrior figures are perfect except for one major problem... Its the major problem with 99.9% of mattel figures... I totally agree some of there face scans are just not up to par.

I think the only reason Jakks scans had more depth to them was because they had so much more room to work with since the heads were so much bigger. If you look at Jakks' early RA scans, they were smaller and didn't have alot of depth either, but as the years went on, and the heads got bigger, the scans had more depth and expression to them. This is just my theory. -

Sure some of Mattel's scans aren't five star, but they've also produced some amazing likenesses. The main problem with Mattel's scans is the painting, sometimes they mess up on the blonde hair like Triple H.

I guess I'm not as concerned about all this as some of you. I just started collecting this summer, and I have compiled every Mattel legend/DM/EG available except a few, and I love them. I'm no Mattel homer or anything, it's just that I haven't bought a wrestling figure since WWF bend-ems way back when I started getting out of wrestling. So obviously Mattel is a big step up from that (and even the old hasbros).
My biggest issue so far has been EG Undertaker's bulky, untucked shirt. That's inexcusable to me. But a sedated face isn't really boring considering how the rest of the figure looks. Legends Warrior could use a snarling scan, but if you watch the beginning of the WM7 match, DM Warrior's expression matches his serious/focused look. Just my two cents.

i agree, someone like warrior doesn't suit a straight-faced scan. a headscan is not just about likeness, it's about capturing the life and character of the superstar.
snarling would have been better. i always wished Jakks had used the snarling scan from the Ring Giants Warrior on an RA style figure.
i'm sure Mattel will give us plenty more warriors with a new scan here and there anyway, so I don't think theres any need to worry.

Yes, the face should have been a more snarling scan on the Legends 4 fig. Hopefully we get a more exciting scan on his next fig. Wrestlemania VI?.......

I agree witht he face part. I think the choice by Mattel to go with plastic arm and boot tassels is a step backwards, but that is a different topic.
Whether you like, loved, or hated him, everyone will admit the Warrior was almost never an expressionless guy. LJN, Hasbro, & Jakks all had Warrior's face with SOME kind of expression which served him properly.
Maybe Mattel will release another Sculpt later on.

I agree with the poster who said it is an appropriate expression for WM7 Warrior; His career was on the line, he paced steadily toward the ring and during his match he wasn't the same guy. I'm sure this wasn't intentional, but I think it suits the attire it depicts well. As for the Legends one, yeah, the face just isn't Ultimate Warrior. For the most part, I prefer neutral looking face sculpts. Whilst Jakks had likeness down for the most part, many of the sculpts were hideous in that they had tongues sticking making them look like something in need of an exorcism, or hideous open mouths that took up 50% of the head - Just UGLY. But I agree, Warrior is one of the few guys that does need a crazy, snarling expression. I hope Mattel takes note.
As for the plastic tassels: What is up with that. I've just checked out Jakks' Warrior offerings and the soft goods is much, much nicer. Certainly for the arm tassels at least!
