With Nash and Booker T now signing with WWE, as well as Sting who is rumored to be coming in could Mattel end up having the most complete WWE legends line? Now I know people will bring up Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair but Hogan is hardly ever on TV as it is so I don't see him being in TNA much longer and with the recent Flair incident I see Flair there even shorter. Not to mention Mick Foley said he would not be resigning with TNA once his contact is up. Then you have the guys like Bret Hart, Eddie Guerrero, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman and so on. Jakks never gave us Steamboat, Savage or Sting(when they had the WWE license). I really think the Mattel Legends line when complete will be the most complete legends line yet. I see us getting a bunch of popular legends this year, especially by the end of this year. What are your thoughts?

I has been really impressed with the legends released so far from Mattel. I just hope the cost and availability (over here in the UK online is our only option) gets sorted as it is costing an arm and a leg to collect them all.

Do they have the chance? Sure but I think Jakks has showed us that nothing is a given. Mattel has given us some great figures and some we thought we never would get. However, Sting isnt signed yet and there is no sign that its going to happen anytime soon. Just a bunch of people speculating. You mention someone like Sean Waltman. Would a Legends line be more complete with him in it or say Pedro Morales? I think there's just too many ifs and what ifs to determine if the line will be the best. After the first 5 series, I still give the nod to Jakks but Mattel has a long time left on their contract so there's no telling what might happen.

Mattel definitely has the chance to do so. JAKKS gave us 181 individual names and over 500 CS figures. Mattel still needs legends like Bruno, Hogan, Flair, Andre, Bret, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and many others. Mattel has a long way to go, but they also have a lot of time.
They have done an impressive job giving collectors new names with each series. But nobody can say for sure what is going to happen in the future.

What is the Flair incident? I don't ever watch TNA. Do they have the chance? Sure but I think Jakks has showed us that nothing is a given. At the rate they went last year, NO. Releasing 1 set of 2 packs for the entire year, plus them knocking the line down to only 4 figures. Time will not allow it. If they renew their contract with WWE for another 5 years, they may have a chance. But, with them cutting down so much of their line, like the Classic ring being cut and 4 figures a set, I just don't see it at this rate. I personally, don't see the 2 packs lasting much longer either.
If they would have kept it rolling like it was, they may have. Hopefully, they start focusing more on the Legends line and we do start seeing more. That is my hope at least. However, I am not getting my hopes up too high at this point.
I am glad now, I chose to keep my JAKKS CS collection. I think it will be the most complete line in the end. I thought Mattel was going to surpass it in names and figures, but I honestly don't think it will now.

Pedro is far more important than Waltman. A mattel Pedro would be awesome. I use to work out with him in my local gym. We would talk wrestling in the steam room after working out. Great stories about Andre, the women and everyone getting wasted.

I had high hopes when I started to collect the Legends line. Didn't really want to start over again even if the figures looked better, but once they signed Macho Man I caved.
With all the changes with the Legends line (ESR cancelled, 6 to 4 figures in a set) as well as the 2-packs and several figures from older series still on the pegs, I'm not too sure if Mattel will be willing to sign the more obscure wrestlers like Jakks did. Maybe it's the price that these figures go for, the economy, or maybe many people don't want to start over but I don't think Mattel is selling their Legends line as much as they hoped.
They could always go the MattyCollector route and sell the older/obscure wrestlers so not to fear massive pegwarming at retail.
Unfortunately I think, the market is just not as high right now for Legends as it was with Jakks, which will really restrict what Mattel will make and thus not going as deep into the Legends line as Jakks did.
But you never know, series 3 and 4 have been selling really well (around here) and maybe it's just a rough start and Mattel will reach their stride like they have with DCUC.

Doubt it. Though they have already delivered on perhaps the 2 most important names tga jakks couldn't. But unless they give us tank abbot, shock master and Abe schwartz, they'll have nothing on jakks.

I thought that it wasn't selling that well and might scrap it in the future. So I don't think it will out do Jakks CS line..

With Nash & Booker signed and the possibility of Sting these guys would be great additions to the Legends line!!! However isn't there a WCW line coming out too???

You do know your stores selection isn't a reflection on the worldwide sales, right?

I think it depends on how strict your interpretation of "legend" is...If Mattel's Legends line never includes Tank, but somehow manages to get us a Dino Bravo, I'd count that as a win for Mattel.
Also, I don't think we should focus on a name-for-name duplication of Classic Superstars; instead, we should focus on, "Okay, Jakks gave us a Kamala, but Mattel gave us a pefect Kamala."

I don't see it happening. They went from 6 to 4 figures a set. The 2 packs we got one set of and they are still sitting in stores. I still see seires 1 and 2 in stores, so i don't know if stores just over ordered b/c the first sets of everything else sold so fast and they ordered a ton thinking these would fly too. I just hope they keep it up for a while to get some good figures.

The only thing that could stand in the way is that Mattel as a larger company needs a higher profit return. So called obscure Legends or Legends from outside the Rock-N-Wrestling Connection or Attitude Era could be a long shot.

Wasn't it just early-mid last year people were asking for this? Did people forget about that?

I believe they will with time. I mean they've been releasing Legends for a year now and they've released/signed some good names. However, the fact that they cut the number from 6 to 4 and cancelling the Old School ESR is a little worrisome. I really think they should release the shelf warmers like Sheik and Jimmy Snuka strictly online through Matty Collector and Ringside, because the real collectors would certainly buy those online and the ones in the stores should be the Macho Man's, Ultimate Warrior's.

I was saying this the other day. They will never have a complete Legend line without Hogan and Flair, though. The way things are going I don't see Hogan in TNA much longer. If they get Hogan and Flair they likely will, especially with Savage and the Von Erichs. Now that the wrestling and figure world are abuzz with Sting rumors they are closer than ever. Hogan and Flair, though, are the two biggest Legends in wrestling history. The line is incomplete without them.
