With price increases, I am sort of glad they have slacked back on the figure lines that I buy which is Legends and Elites. I so far have every Legend and Elite released. But it does mean, I wont get as many figures for the money that I used to spend.

Not to get into this with you, but you do understand that companies outsource to be cost effective and not because of regulators right? American workers won't work in factories for the low production costs of that in China, Pakistan, the Dominican, etc. In fact, it is so cheap to outsource, that most, if not all, companies can have their product made, pay a ridiculous import tax, and get there product to the store and it is still cheaper than paying to have it made in America. I'm all for increasing jobs for the American people but this is big business, now so more than ever. Not sure what any of that has to do with Mattel cutting their production costs since bringing the work to America would actually increase their costs but whatever. Additionally, big business needs regulators, see Enron. You should probably take a class on business ethics before you start throwing around the word socialism so aimlessly. And you should realize just who in the hell it is your talking to before acting like you know more than he does. One of my good friends, Primetime is, and he's smarter than you could hope to be. Guy has been through enough to know what the hell he's talking about. Thanks Jim. I like how I should take business ethics because I said socialism.... Ummmm I did. I know if you over regulate and over tax companies will pick up and leave or go out of business OR beg for the government to bail them out. Personally if a company can't manage there budget they should go out of business, but companies who try to work in an honest way are usually the ones who get screwed. you mention Enron. Enron collapsed from the inside because of bad management. Not because of high taxes or over regulating. I am talking about companies that outsource to mexico, china, india etc. taking away jobs from america. They were being over regulated. They picked up and left. Like I said about RSC they have higher prices because of the amount they have to order, the cost to have them imported, the taxes they have to pay via customs, federal and state, and getting the product earlier for you to buy. they should have a tax break. is Jon a millionaire? I have no clue and it is none of my business. Do I think he should have a break when it comes to what he is taxed on. Yes. He is living the american dream to be a businessman. Capitalism helps his business grow and strive. Socialism would destroy his company. he would have to lay off any workers due to new tax regulations. He will be forced to raise prices.. People will not be able to afford anything from him. socialist programs that THIS president is trying to push will not work. Look @ what socialism did to the rest of the world. I think you should take History classes before opening your mouth. Oh I forgot today's educators don't teach facts or the truth... only there liberal false agenda. Wait til 12/7/1941 and 09/11/2001 are erased from the history books. Seems like people already forget about those dates. A fair tax would stimulate the economy and create job growth. The unemployment rate was not as near as high in the bush administration as people like to think. I remember under Clinton being laid off several times. Under the bush admin I was able to get a job under homeland security. Jobs were created. So what if they were fed jobs. Sometime in your lives u got to stop flipping burgers and do something with your life. But then again majority of the US are full of sheeple and want there asses wiped for them by big brother. Welcome to the pussification of america folks. Blame the rich and reublicans for all problems and your WWE figures going up in price. how about this. Look in a mirror and blame yourselves for what is wrong. Keep voting incompetent people who promote socialism into office.... we all wont be able to afford bootleg figs from Guatemala.....

I hope it is the end.
Jakks is better. Already miss them after 3 months of collecting Mattel.
Mattel's prices are intellectually- disabled and they release a series every 2 months it seems. Not to mention it takes them forever to make a new wrestler.
Legends are $20.
Ridiculous. I want Elite Goldust, and Hurricane and then I'm done with Mattell unless they come out with a Gail Kim which at the rate of their current production will be in another year after shes released or something.
And their playability is complete sh*t compared to Jakks.

Troll, joker or idiot? Jakks are still making figures. They still have cruiserweight guys like Motorcity Machine Guns as tall as guys like Hulk Hogan, and with the same giant arms. You might be better off collecting those if that's what you like.

But I did buy Jakks Exclusive Hardy. I still prefer Jakks over Mattel.

I say to shrink the package across all figs. I don't need my figures to be in big plastic bubbles. Go for a minimalist approach like the Jakks TNA figs. Elites and DM are especially notorious for having too much packaging.

Wow, I come to a wrestling figure website and get red-neck conservative rantings....
Until Wal-Mart rises the prices of their figures there is nothing to worry about.

lol. So then I guess having no taxes at all would give everyone a job, right? Taxes were higher under Clinton and he created 23 million jobs. Taxes were lower under Bush and he lost many jobs. (I don't know the number off hand) I love people who still believe that the myths of the clinton era.... LOL what has been accomplished under this president? High unemployment rates. Corporate bailouts and trying to pass socialized medicine.... Unemployment has been dropping. Bailouts happened under the last guy as well. The word 'socialized' is used as a boogeyman. He's done plenty you are just not seeing it because you don't agree with what was done. Clinton myth, lol. Well if you would like to discuss this further you can make a post in the lounge and I'll happily respond.

No wonder they are raising prices. They spend $5 alone making sure no one is able to steal anything by making sure the figure is secured using strings and what not. I swear it takes me 5 minutes to take each figure out.

Over here, the price of basic figures has already gone up to £9.99 each (...that's about $16). The Elites are still £12.99 (about $21). And we don't get any Legends, apart from in speciality stores that charge about £14.99+ each (...I'd love to see them in stores for $20 each!).
At the moment, I don't know whether to sell my basics and just collect the Elites and Legends (and Defining Moments) lines...

Whatever happens I just hope I get the Kevin Von Erich figure. It's the only Legends figure that we've seen that's never been made by any toy company.

its only a dollar extra per figure. I buy Ironman figures that are in the $200 price range, so dropping only 11 on a figure makes my day.

One thing to note, manufacturer costs are not what the figure is ultimately sold for. Most likely tru buys each figure for roughly 40-45% what they sell them for. So an increase of costs to mattel is likely .20-30 cents, adjusting for profit margins, that is then passed along to the buyers. Whether the retailers will up their costs because mattel does is a matter of their own choices. Tru, for example, raises and lowers their prices seemingly at random, which I assume they factor into the bottom line on a quarterly basis.
Tru knows they will lower prices at the holidays, so they increase an item early in the year. If they sell 10 of said item at a 100% markup and 20 of the same item later at only 40% more than their costs, they still average what they need to balance costs and profits.
Just saying.
