Elite because of the articulation, I bought my first basic for an Elite fix up and was stunned at how un-fun it was. The hip articulation and ab articulation really help the figure get into some more realistic poses. Each figure really feels like a definitive version of the wrestler it depicts

I guess I largely prefer the Basic figures but with the Elite accessories so I buy both. I display my figures so the articulation doesn't matter to me and I really, really, hate the torso joint on the Elites. I do a lot of swapping though. Punks tattoos added to a Basic, Basic heads on Elite bodies and vice versa, Cena arm swaps, and fix-ups along those lines. I guess it depends, there are some guys I think that are more suited for Basics and others that are more suited for an Elite style figure.
I will say that the Entrance Greats line was my favorite of anything Mattel did so far. So the Basic style with Elite detail and accessories. If the Elites had the Basic torso my problems would be solved.

Depends on who it is. Like Jericho, DiBiase, Jr., and Cody Rhodes are better as basics. but guys like Kane, Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels are better as Elites.

Much like punksnotdead, I prefer Basic but I buy plenty of Elites for their accessories or if I need to do a part swap. I'm not a big fan of ab or thigh joints on the Elite. Plus Basic get updated attires much faster than the Elites.

As said, it definitely depends on the wrestler. I think certain guys look much nicer in basic form and vice versa (Ziggler, Jomo and Orton are perfectly suited for elite style, whereas Punk, Edge and Miz look better as basics IMO).
That said, in order to limit what I buy, I've decided to only purchase elite figures. They are more expensive, but they're released much less frequently than basic styled figures. Although I may have to reverse that decision when Del Rio and Bryan hit the shelves!! :S

I buy basics and elites. Basics are better for display, elites are better for creating poses. I like to take the accessories that comes with elites and put them on the basics like the DX figures.

Toss up for me, I overall like elites better, for accessories, and articulation. But basics have so many choices of attires and just variety of the roster. Plus basics figures come out in the wrestlers current attire pretty quick. Like cena for instance, he wore the orange from survivor series09 till summerslam10, and we just now are finding his orange elite fig in stores, yet we have a purple cena basic style already. It's just a hard decision they are both AWESOME!!

I honestly can't chose I'll buy a basic and just love the figure but then i'll buy an elite and fall in love with it also. I think Mattel have just done a great job on both lines and its hard to chose what I prefer.

Your posts are just not neccasary. But Elite for articulation and accesories. Your responses, if they're like this, aren't necessary. I'm sure every one of your posts are relevant in every way . . . . . I really like both basic and Elite, and both series have some great figs, but I'd have to go with Elites because of the articulation.
