During Mattel's interview with Ringside at Toy Fair, the Mattel rep mentioned that there are "certain guys" that WWE has told them to stay away from. Anyone have any idea who these are? I imagine Chris Benoit is one and perhaps Owen because of the lawsuit. Are there any others that we may never see?

My first thought was Owen. I'm not sure who else. I think Flair might be one of them and I guess Hogan as long as he's with TNA.

generally anyone currently employed by TNA is off limits until they leave or get fired. Although there may be a few possible exceptions, since Jakks signed Nash to a CS deal while he was in TNA and I think there was a couple of others too.
Mattel has already said we'll never see a Chris Benoit. Ever.
Owen Hart isn't gonna happen, because of his widow. So I'm sure Mattel wouldn't bother asking. But I have no idea whether WWE would actually ban Mattel from approaching her.
slightly off topic, but I'd love to see a Legends Madusa figure, and I was joking with my brother yesterday that it'd be funny if mattel made her in the legends line with a WWE Women's title and a trashcan as accessories. lol. but back on topic, it wouldn't surprise me if WWE told mattel that madusa was off limits because of that incident.
Other than Benoit, Owen and TNA employees though - never say never. Jakks was apparently told by WWE that Macho Man was off limits and they weren't allowed to approach him (the words of the Jakks liscensing manager). and now mattel has made him. so clearly something changed at WWE, or Jakks was just lying about the true reason.

I don't think we will ever see the real DX members.

I don't think we will ever see the real DX members. Which DX? If you mean Road Dogg, X-Pac, Billy Gunn, and Chyna, then no they probably won't be made. But with the exception of Chyna all the original DX members (HBK, HHH, and Rick Rude) have been made so we might see Mattel put out attires from that era at some point.

Jakks gave us a classic superstars X-Pac and 1-2-3 Kid, so there is no reason as to why Mattel wouldn't do them. Billy and Dogg I believe are on bad terms w/ the WWE right now, but never say never.

Opps, didn't mean to say real. Meant to say "other DX members." I'm mostly referring to Road Dogg and Billy Gun.

I think Dino Bravo is one of the names. He never had a figure made when he was active and his mob connections and the way he was slain in a hit in his home probably make him a bad candidate.
Billy Jack Haynes is likely another one they've been told to stay away from. He's very negative on the WWE and is maybe not someone they'd want their brand associated with.

None of the guys mentioned are off limits, (Owen and Benoit aside) however I do know the one "strange" guy they were told to avoid as mentioned in their original statement. The guy that they were surprised that they couldn't make.

Mattel has said there will never be a Benoit and they can not release a Legends figure of anyone working for another wrestling company. So all the WWF/WCW "Legends" in TNA are off limits.
Other than then Benoit and the TNA guys the only person I would say is off limits is Owen because his wife controls his property rights and has been pretty much against all things wrestling.
Now that the facts have been dealt with lets have some fun: Chyna because it has been said there are hard feelings between her and the WWE about how Hunter/Stephie pushed her out. Any and all former talents that spoke out against the WWE during the Benoit problems, such as Marc Mero. Granted we wouldn't want a Mero figure but he was the first to come to mind. I have to wonder if Elizabeth's family would let them make a figure of her, no reason other than the hell Macho and Luger put her through. X-Pac hasn't been doing himself to many favors in his interviews lately, pretty good at putting over angles and talent then bashing the biz and direction it is heading. Paul Heyman is someone that is a huge long shot to ever have a Mattel figure but would be cool as an exclusive (such as a WrestleFest exclusive with Bischoff and Vince) but I don't think he is liked by the McMahons. Speaking of Heyman, Lesnar is HUGE no. All but a handful of UFC fighters have control of their likeness rights so unless the UFC says okay a Lesnar figure is a no no.

What about Hercules? I wonder why we never got a figure of him. Or Adrian Adonis?
And I don't think we're ever going to see a Ludvig Borga figure, though it would be sweet.

Bullet Bob Armstrong might be inducted into the Hall this year. If he is, Road Dogg would possibly be there. This is what I've seen on the internet sites. If that actually happens, then I would imagine it would put Road Dogg back on better terms with the E. I mean, Mattel did sign Warrior and Macho. And the WWe is letting them make the Von Erichs, who actually comitted suicide.

I dont think Hogan is off limits since he's in their new game, and just s unlikely due to his TNA contract. I know there will be no Benoit. Other I highly doubt is Owen Hart, Chyna, and Linda Mcmahon(since she withdrew her Jakks figure twice)

I doubt Hogan is on the black list.....WWE is marketing him as part of this video game despite him being in TNA, so I don't see how they would allow him in a game and ban him from getting a figure. Press is press.
I just think Mattel and WWE are waiting for a better time to release a Hogan figure...because at the end of the day, the All-Stars 2-packs are just repaints promoting a video game.
I'm sure we'll get Hogan before the end of 2011.

I'd love to see New Age Outlaws. They did so much for the WWF during the Atittude era, especially in terms of merch sales and attracting viewers. It's a shame WWE has pretty much ignored them in the history books. Crazy to think it's been almost TEN YEARS since the WWE has released a Gunn/Dogg figure!

It may have been a reference to guys like Hogan who are under Legends contracts which might allow figures (and does allow his inclusion in the All Stars video game) but who WWE really would rather not promote. THQ basically demanded they let them use him in the game over WWE's objections, but Mattel may not be as up for that fight because there isn't the same value in selling a single figure as there is a video game.

I'm sure we'll get Hogan before the end of 2011. Many Video game News sites have said it was THQ and not the WWE that put Hogan in the game. They told WWE that without Hogan a gimmiked up game like All-Stars would not do well. That said THQ also has a contract with Hogan that pre-dates his TNA contract. Mattel has nothing to do with those contracts so until his TNA deal is done and Hogan is off limits.

Yeah, it would be pretty silly for a WWE All-Stars game to not have Hogan or Austin, The Rock, Savage, Bret, HBK or Andre for that matter.
I'm really curious who the off-limit surprise legend is. Completely understand about Benoit and hope one day Martha will realize Owen's fans would love to see a figure of him.
I still hope we get a Hercules and Bravo. They were fairly important in the late 80s. Billy Jack would be one who's cool but not essential to my Legends collection. Who else did Jakks not get to that was forever in doubt besides Steamboat and Savage?

I'd bet Damien Demento & Konan are on that list.
