Well I guess I dont really have much to say considering I've bought at least 1 of every Legend and multiples of most of them. I dont want them to change at all, but I guess that's not going to happen.

Better lineups plain and simple.
No that doesnt mean a bunch of Attitude Era crap like Crash Holly or Steve Blackman. Be smart with lineups. Work in guys from different eras. Give us an Andre The Giant from the 80s, Bret Hart from the 90s...Mix them with "highly wanted" guys like Steamboat and Savage were.
As the line grows and sales improve slowly incorporate lesser known, not so "BIG" name stars like a Don Muraco or a Road Dogg.

Geezuz.... Undertaker, HBK, Bret, Warrior, Macho Man, Hogan , Flair, Andre the Giant.... When these guys have been Heavily sprinkled in the line , everyone else will sell
3 out of 5 in a series should be big names with a couple Mid popular names in the line to keep it interesting.
No one starts a collection Based off of Old Nobodies like Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Nikolai Volkoff. Jakks Made Classic Superstars a Huge Business. They started the Line Huge with "The Legion of Doom" The Hart Foundation, The Rockers, Undertaker, Bret Hart, HBK, Triple H , Andre the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior.
Mattel Started with Bad Line ups, series 6 and no undertaker, hbk , bret or andre yet? I bought 95% of all the legends but i come on, Those Big Names Start collections.
Also the accessories are Nice, but if it would keep cost down, We dont need Bam bam bigelows Jacket or vaders cape.... Masks, Glasses, Robes and belts are Nessecary , but really some accessories are overkill

wow, so glad I barely caught the tail-end of that board drama before it disappeared.
I've bought every single Legends series in their entirety. Most I've kept in my personal collection, some were strictly for customs, and more often than not I've bought multiples - all this from a guy who refused to get into Jakks for over a decade.
If sales are "terrible" then it's time to rethink your marketing strategy. For the next couple of series, concentrate on big name players. If you signed Bret Hart, then that figure will be a sell-out guaranteed. You need the big names now to show the big box stores that this line is hot. Then hardcore Legends collectors can look forward to those "obscure" figures down the line when it's already established.
The non-iconic attire test was lukewarm. Give your customers what they know. LOD in red, Slaughter in camo, Snuka with bare feet.
Frequency - It seems like Flex Force, Rumblers, Basics, Elites and DMs are coming out rapidly while there is a 3-month gap between Legends?! Something's got to give.

More BIG NAMES! I don't want akeem, kamala, terry funk, martel, or any of the lesser known guys. I already have their figures from Jakks. I'm not going to buy two Kamala figures! Look at Jakks CS 2packs series one lineup: Hart Foundation, Rockers, LOD. That lineups blows Mattel legends 2packs series one out of the water.
However I would buy many andres, brets, hbks, austins, warriors, savages, rocks, those types of huge name guys. I appreciate that you tried to give us more obscure legends but they appeal to such a small group of collectors.
Why did the thread from bill get deleted. That had some pretty huge news in it?

If the line is about to die and I had to throw a lineup out there to grab people's attention it would be something like:
Nation of Domination era The Rock WWF Champion era Bret Hart Intercontinental Champion era HBK American Bad@ss era Undertaker Attitude Era Y2J Chris Jericho Mid 90's Jerry Lawler
All characters who have been involved with WWE recently. They will all sell well.
Oh and why do LEGENDS not have a commercial?

They should get rid of the defining moments line. Those figures should be the star power of the legends line.
Collectors are addicts, you don't become hooked on something if its not that great. Legends series 1 and 2 especially should have been packed with star power. Macho Man, Bret Hart, Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior etc etc..... the first 2 or 3 series packed with top main event wrestlers and collectors are hooked aswell as new collectors.
- When Jakks started the Classic line those wrestlers were still wrestling so kids bought them aswell. Kids are a big market and when series 1 legends has no one they have ever heard of (maybe excluding Austin) how the heck do you expect them to be interested. Kids can be collectors too ya know!!!
Why on earth would you make the Legends 2 packs exclusive to one freakin store (TRU). How are the rest of the world suppose to buy them. And the same goes with what i mentioned above, the wrestlers used just weren't big enough stars.
Notice that I haven't mentioned anything about the quality of the figures. That part they have got spot on.
And regarding the ever increasing prices of them - maybe thats another reason why the sales have been "terrible".

Why did the thread from bill get deleted. That had some pretty huge news in it? Why do you think it got deleted? From a purely PR-point of view >>this<< thread is much more constructive for Bill and his team. That other thread was going to be bad news all around for everyone.

Keep doing what you're doing. From the first sets that have come out at retail I've got all of them and am getting all of series 5 and 6 (including both Kerry Von Erichs).
But to offer some helpful suggestion all the same:
- add a mix of eras in each wave. I'll grab whatever at this early stage in the line, but leaning too heavy to any particular era say the Hulkamania days is going to prevent fans who started watching during the Attitude era from grabbing a wave where the majority is an era they're not familiar with. I'd suggest a big name guy from any era, a Hulkamania/4 Horsemen era face/heel, an early 90s New Generation/WCW Dangerous Alliance era guy and Attitude/nWo era face/heel.
-Go with the iconic look of characters. Don't worry if Jakks did a Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka barefoot with short tights or a Sgt. Slaughter in camo gear. The Mattel figures have been MUCH better. People will switch after seeing how much greater the quality is in your version compared to Jakks.
-Try to up the number back up to six per wave and add a tag team to each series. Tag teams were a major part of legend collectors' memories and should be celebrated just as much as single stars.
-Do more variants like The Texas Tornado/Kerry Von Erich or a Narcissist Lex Luger and All-American Lex Luger. Some people might not have watched him in World Class, but his exposure in WWF attracts another set of fans and for those big time fans like me, we'll grab them both.
-Maybe in the bios, mention famous feuds of the figures and if that rival has already been made i.e. Ultimate Warrior [Ravishing Rick Rude - Legends 2; The Undertaker - Entrance Greats, Macho Man Randy Savage - Defining Moments] to help showcase what's been done and get customers interested in picking up figures they might not know were already made.
-try to tie in with what the current product is doing. If a Legend shows up or is returning, try to have that figure coming shortly after - synching up with the WWE Hall of Fame is a great idea. A 95-era HBK would have been perfect for series 5.
Like I said earlier, I'm all in with the line, so as long as the quality, attention to scale and character selection [c'mon 4 Horsemen, Dangerous Alliance, Midnight Express and nWo!] I'm buying every figure. Keep up the good work as I hope to keep supporting this line for years to come!

Simple. First, I love Mattel Legends. The Von Erich figures are the greatest figures ever! As much as I like the rich history of WWE, I am even more so a fan of the NWA, World Class style wrestling. When I saw the Von Erichs, well it was the first time I had jumped out of my seat for a figure image in years. They have been on my want list for years. With that said, take us to the golden age of the mid 80s like you did with Savage, George Steel and Orndorff. There is so much star power in the guys like Magnum TA, Tully Blanchard, Abdullah The Butcher and the list goes on. My biggest wants since learning of the Von Erich Legends is to build for them a heel group to contend with for years to come on my collector shelf. Guys they stood toe to toe with such as The Freebirds, One Man Gang, King Kong Bundy, and Jimmy Garvin. The highlight of my action figure hunting this summer will be to put Kerry Von Erich face to face with Kamala! Think Legends series 1 Road Wariors and you have the formula that will propel this line!

I would remove the Legends line and just sprinkle 2 Legends into elite line-ups making it a 8 figure series. I would keep the bigger legends and increase the Defining Moments line to 4 figures a series. But what do I know, I don't work for Mattel and obviously they are doing Legends wrong when it doesn't sell.

Bottom Line..... Sell the Big Names to Hook Everyone..... Look at Hasbro and Jakks CS Successes.... Look at their Line ups , I Would buy Every Hasbro Guy made if Mattel made them in the Legends Series (except Bart and billy gun, f those guys)

Guys we can't look at this purely as what figs we selfishly want. You have to think of what makes business sense and what you would do if it was your money on the line. Hell I would love a mantar figure but that doesn't mean I think it would be a good idea for mattel to make one. Dude seriously no one would buy any of those figures besides hardcore collectors over age 40. That is a very small demo. Yes I would like all of those figures too but do you really think the average consumer/kid is going to pay $16 for a jimmy garvin figure? They need to concentrate on big names that most people actually recognize and then sprinkle in an occasional obscure guy.

I own every Legends, Legends two-pack, Defining Moments, and Entrance Greats (sans Rey) figure currently out there. Just continue making them and I will continue buying them. I do like the idea of upping the the series back to six figures per wave, and including a tag team and mix of eras in each wave. That way there should be a little something for everyone. I would also definitely consider bringing the two packs back, but be more selective when it comes to who you release and scale back the production of these two packs.

I think some bigger names would be the best way to go in terms to get an average collector to purchase the whole set. I'll admit that I don't purchase all the legends from each set and only get the ones that look really cool or ones that I must have. Another suggestion I like is including classic belts. I know I'd purchase if they had some classic belts that we haven't seen created yet.

Follow Jakks steps in lineups but use quality to your advantage. Otherwise you will always fail regardless of how good your figure's accessories are, which is pretty much the only thing going with the Legends line.
