question
how come they never showed hogan matches on regular tv back in the day?
everyone would usually fight a jobbe, but hogsan NEVER did.
its like we only saw him wrestle 4 times a year which i guess kept him fresh as a character and should be done more often today imo

I guess he thought he was too big of a star to compete in regular squashes, which baffles me because Warrior was in them a lot during his reign. I do recall him wrestling Dino Bravo on Wrestling Challenge and Superstars of Wrestling (replay from Wrestling Challenge the weekend before) in March 1990 while he was champion.

It was to make his appearances seem special. When the champion appeared on tv, you bet your ass you were there to watch it. They need to do the same thing now.

I remember that Hogan vs. Orton Memorial Day weekend match. I think I planned my week around making sure we were home from noon-1 p.m. that Saturday so I didn't miss the chance to watch Hogan wrestle without going to a live event, renting a Coliseum Video, or staying up late for a SNME. Back then, PPV wasn't yet the major source of income for the WWF that it is today. When Hogan first got huge, house show business was still the big money maker, so the WWF kept Hogan's appearances "special" so that if he came to town, people would be more inclined to buy a ticket. Hogan appeared on the syndicated shows to cut promos, or to participate in angles that set up the feuds for house show business (such as the rare 1986 appearances as Orndorff's tag team partner, which was only to set up the Hogan-Orndorff feud, which sold crazy house show tickets that year.)
