Now look, its really hard to choose between these two excellent matches. I must say that when it comes to historical significance, I'd give it to WrestleMania 13's submission match. But when it comes to scientific wrestling, I would have to say their Survivor Series 1996 match was better at that. In Your House: Revenge Of The Taker also had a great Bret-Austin match to remember. These two had such an awesome fued. Which match do you guys think was better?

Series 1996 was the better match wrestling wise while WM 13's told a better story. As of this posting I'd say it's a tie.

Technically, the SS 96' bout is easily the best between Hart and Austin.

Yeah, you guys are all pretty much right in the technical regard. They're both excellent matches in their own right, hard to find a flaw in either of them.

I found the WM Submission story told a better story & for me was the better more emotional match. Could argue that SS was more technical but I was pulled into the submission match more,

Their match at SS is so over looked and forgotten and thats quite a shame. I prefer WM because that match was so intense and a great battle. But people shouldn't just forget about their first PPV encounter. I know some diehard bret hart fans that dont even know about this match.

Both matches were amazing, but I love the WM 13 submission match.

Has anyone seen their main event match from IYH: Revenge Of The Taker? I read it was great too.

I think, and this is only my opinion, that Austin vs. Hart from Wrestlemania 13 has really been effected by the constant play it gets around Wrestlemania time. I enjoy the Survivor Series 1996 match because it's a great match on its own without being shoved down our throats with constant reminders about how good it is. I don't know if it makes any sense but what I'm trying to say is that, in my opinion, Survivor Series 1996>Wrestlemania 13.

I would say both are about an equal level,
except, as mentioned, one receives more exposure than the other.

They were both tremendous matches and for me, I'd say their WrestleMania match was the best encounter.

I remember this match a lot.
I think wrestling-wise it was definitely better, but the WM13 match was the match that made the story how great it was, since both characters switched places (face/heel).
God i love classic wrestling.

Their match at WM 13 was better. At SSe, Bret is way too dominated by Austin.

Going to rewatch both, but I remember the SS match to be better except for the ending (which Bret had also done with Piper).
