In 1989 right before the Survivor Series Tully Blanchard left the WWF and was replaced by Bobby Heenan in the elimination match. On OWW it states that Blanchard left for failing a drug test.
Does anyone have more information on this?
Why didn't Arn leave with him?

Im not sure of why Arn didnt leave too.
But yeah, Tully failed a drug test for cocaine, and was released. I think, however, at the time both Arn and Tully were coming towards the end of their contracts and were already in talks with WCW to come back. Arn was pretty much gurranteed to have a job with WCW once his WWF deal expired, and so was Tully, but once WCW caught wind of his failed drug test, WCW recended their offer.
I may have left a few tid bits out so dont hold me to that.
God I love that Horsemen DVD!

I may have left a few tid bits out so dont hold me to that. God I love that Horsemen DVD! From what I have read / heard over the years, your account seems to cover it well. Basically, Tully & Arn were offered a chance to return to WCW and accepted it, but before they had actually finished with the WWF, Tully showed up at the arena one night (not at Survivor Series, but just prior to it) with cocaine in his system. They had surprise drug testing, he failed, was fired, and WCW took back their job offer when they found out. So Arn Anderson returned to WCW by himself, and Tully' career was basically over, except for sporadic appearances. That's a rare example of a wrestler's top-level career ending due to having a bad reputation for drug abuse. Most wrestlers who abused drugs (such as Jake Roberts, Roddy Piper, etc.) either got away with it, or talked their way into another chance.

The drug testing was like a form of blackmail or a way to screw with people. When Razor Ramon gave his notice to go to WCW, all of a sudden a failed drug test from a while back surfaced, and he was suspended until he left.
Now it looks like the testing is more on the up and up, but with the Benoit incident, it shows that you can get around some things with a prescription. There is really no medical reason for wrestlers to take the amount of steroids and painkillers they take, but a prescription gives you a free pass when drug tested.

God I love that Horsemen DVD! I do too. Lots & lots of classic Horsemen stuff on there. The good (lots of vintage Flair stuff & Horsemen interviews) and the bad (Paul Roma and Sid joining the most elite group in wrestling history).
