I've always thought Riley was ready to go. NXT didn't seem like the right fit for him - I always felt as though he was steps ahead of everyone else on the show in terms of being TV ready.
Of course, guys like Kaval were certainly ahead of him in the ring, but Riley was well rounded enough to hit TV without going through the motions on NXT.
I'm interested to see where he goes on his own. I don't think his beating down The Miz necessarily constituted a face turn. Remember, he's a member of Smackdown. I expect to see a blow off match with The Miz before he heads to Friday nights, where he could easily be established as a face, riding off of what happened this week, or simply revert back to a heel with little effort.
He's really in a position to do anything right now. He didn't turn face - he simply beat up one of the biggest heels in the company.

Miz has come a long way and surely gotten himself over as a decent heel. Of course he had help with feuding with Orton and then Cena, but he should get his credit. HOWEVER, lets not kid ourselves.....he isnt the most over heel in WWE. Then can you please tell me who is? Cause the only one close is CM Punk and the fans sure don't react to him like they do to the Miz... Punk, Del Rio, and Miz are the 3 most over heels in WWE. To me they all seem pretty even, no one leaps ahead of the other. Miz is in the race with Del Rio and Punk based purely on crowd reaction, he gets just as much heat as Punk and Del Rio, but I'd say Punk and Del Rio are superior to Miz in the ring and on the mic.
