I just got another package from RSC today and this time, it's Masked Kane!
I was thrilled when I heard RSC offered this version of the Big Red Monster. The masked look is my favorite one for Kane, he was such an unstoppable force back then. The Elite packaging has the RSC Exclusive sticker, like Flash Rey Mysterio, and the back describes the match where Kane was forced to unmask.
Just like the previous Elite versions, this Kane comes with the same accessories: the chains and black towel.
The main new accessory, and the whole point of this figure, is his removable mask! It looks great and I like how the hair is attached to it, just like how it was when Kane was unmasked.
Once the chains are removed, Kane is ready to unleash hell on the Mattel universe!
Kane's attire is repainted without any special molding on it. It would've been nice to see the straps molded but it would've interfered with the Elite articulation. The leg straps could've been molded but, without the top straps matching, would've looked out of place. You could argue that it's the only detail that would've made this figure exceptional but I'm fine with it as it is. I'm happy to finally get a masked Kane figure!
Now let's look at what's underneath that mask. If I remember correctly, it's the same headsculpt as the Basic versions but slightly repainted. There's black shading around his eyes and the back of his head is painted to look like he got a short, clean buzz cut. Kane was more scruffy with mangled hair when he was unmasked but I don't mind this version. The mangled hair would've made the mask harder to pull off.
I don't care so much for how he looks underneath the mask because I'm keeping it on him at all times. He just looks so much cooler with it on. It reminds me of old episodes of RAW where Kane would dominate and destroy his opponents!
Overall, this is a very cool exclusive and the best Mattel Kane figure made so far! I recommend this figure to all Elite and Kane fans, I hope this encourages Mattel to make more masked Kanes. His debut look would be perfect for a Legends figure!
