When Macho Man beat Duggan to become Macho King, he was wearing light green trunks that said "MACHO MAN" on the back. Was the front plain?

Am I thinking of the wrong match? I have yet to see the green with the blue knee pads but I'm with the group saying I believe he definitely wore that attire. I wish Mattel would just say, "hey we based it off this match," or something along those lines. It's fun to try to find it but it's frustrating we haven't figured it out to this point. I don't mind the obscure attire with the All Stars figure because his L5 attire was fairly iconic. I wish they would get the knee pads down though because I feel the Randy Orton style knee pads would be more appropriate. I would have liked to see maybe a shade darker on the yellow for the L5 figure as well.

Just not with the trunks he wore with the allstars figure.

Didn't someone post a pic of him wearing that attire when the figs were first shown?

I have pic of him on a magazine with the light green trunks. I'm pretty sure though the pic is before his WWF run. Most likely Memphis.

The cover is somewhat faded in this auction, but you can get the idea. cgi.EBAY LINK NOT ALLOWED/WRESTLING-88-MAGAZINE-MEGAPOWERS-HOGAN-SAVAGE-SPRING-88-/300552026224?pt=Magazines&hash=item45fa4bf870

Personally, the attire reminds me most of the WWF Superstars arcade game and of this: It seems like if you grew up watching in that era, you have an image of Savage wearing those trunks in your mind even if they never really existed. I think of it like the yellow-strapped Winged Eagle belt in that it's based more on artistic license than fact. The old WWF figures were never concerned with being 100% accurate to one match. I can't think of any time off the top of my head that the Ultimate Warrior wore any of the exact attires used for his LJN and Hasbro figures, but they certainly looked right. Like I said before, I like having figures that aren't nailed down to one specific event, as that seems to be more limiting than good.

I don't want to get too far off topic but is there a good Internet source for older wrestling pictures. Whenever I try a google image search, 9 times out of 10 the best pictures are tiny thumbnail size. So far the best site I can find is Obsessed With Wrestling.

I'm going to say they were probably green at the beginning of the match. But like you said that photo is faded, plus he was sweaty & dirty when that photo was taken.

I'm happy with it too and I know what you mean Heart of a Warrior about having one specific attire, like the Legends Rude. It's cool but it's tied to Summerslam instead of one of his countless non-specific event tights.
That's cool for Defining Moments but I'd rather a more generic outfit for the regular Legends.

He wore the blue kneepads with all his trunks when he first started his WWE run. I have seen him wear yellow with blue (I think he wore that at Wrestlemana 2 vs. George Steele), the pink with blue and the green with blue. He switched up to the yellow kneepads around 1987 at WM 3 time. He still would wear the blue kneepads though cause on the Savage dvd I am sure he wrestled DiBiase in the cage wearing orange trunk with blue kneepads.

Use Online World of Wrestling instead. Obsessed With Wrestling was stolen by some jerk so they guy made Online World instead. Thanks, I didn't know that. Between my customizing and some of the topics questioning Mattel's accuracy, I realized I needed some reference pictures because my memory is getting a little fuzzy.

The neon green trunks with the stars, which never existed, were probably another "creative decision" by Mattel. They probably thought the correct 'duller' green, would not be attractive at retail.
