Here's a better pic of what the new costumes are gonna look like: Personally, I think they look amazing. Way better than Marvel's Ultimates look. In case anyone was wondering who the other heroes in the pic are: From top left, Deadman, Atom, Element Woman (a Jim Lee-designed character debuting as part of Flashpoint), Firestorm, Green Arrow, Hawkman, an unidentified female character (possibly either Power Girl or Black Canary) and Mera.

Aquaman looks pretty much the same, as do Flash and Batman. I still hate Cyborg being a main member of the JLA. I still loathe Wonder Woman's new look. I'm not sure how I feel about the Superman changes yet. The belt seems silly without the trunks. It looks like someone was challenged to see how many lines they could draw on everyone's boots.

I definitely agree about Cyborg, he's one of my least favorite DC Characters. I assume he's there because they wanted to be PC and have at least on African American in the group, but I personally would have preferred Black Lightning. As for Wonder Woman's new look, I don't understand why it's getting so much hate, it looks really cool to me. And I'm actually kind of glad they got rid of the underwear on the outside look.

Lines. Lines everywhere. What was the train of thought on Flash? "Hey, let's see how many pointless ing lines we can put on dudes boots and get away with!" edit: hahaha, I see TRW had the same thoughts.

LOL
The more I look at that picture, the more the excessive lines bother me.
As I figured, for most titles, it's just a reboot of the titles, not the stories. I just hope they get the digital going in full effect.

I haven't read any of the newer stuff consistently for years so I'm going to be way behind. If they're continuing the same continuity that I can't follow then I don't see how they're going to attract new readers. Maybe I'm missing something here.

Well all the new titles are supposed to be same day digital now.
However I can't explain the numbering/rebooting thing. But pretty much all you are going to get is the issue numbers starting over.

That's not going to drag me in. Digital copies of a continuity that I can't follow sold at the same price (which is what it looks like) as newstand prices isn't compelling. Maybe it is to some people. Just not to me.

Same day release for the trades might draw me in, that's about it. I wouldn't mind paying a large monthly fee for current comics, but $3-$4 a piece for digital? No thank you.

I would pay a large monthly fee for current comics as long as it included at least some access to the archives so I could go back and see what they were referring to when they say XYZ happened in issue 672.

re: costumes. most of them have grown on me, although I hate wonder woman's and superman's. GL looks cool, Batman looks a little to modern for me but it's still a nice design. Aquaman and Flash don't look particularly different. I don't get why GL or Superman need armour though??
kinda bummed about the stories simply continuing. I'm sure most of you guys aren't, but my main interest was because it gave me a definitive place to start.

Yeah man, Superman's new duds are completely nonsensical.

DC has made it very difficult to get the origin and chronological order for a lot of their characters. At least Batman has year one and GL has Secret Origin, but I'm trying to get a good origin story for Barry Allen's Flash, but I have no idea where to start and where to go from there. Again, I have somewhat of a good idea when it comes to Batman and GL but am completely lost when it comes to the Flash.

If they're continuing the same continuity that I can't follow then I don't see how they're going to attract new readers. Maybe I'm missing something here. That's been the major stumbling block in deciding what this really is. The guys on the side GL books have said they are using the stuff Johns put together to create the stories in the new books, while Johns has said very little about what will be in the main GL book. Some of the other creators have said similar things, what has happened before are either building blocks or will influence how the book is being put together while others have said the older material has no bearing on where things will start or where they will go. It all sounds very murky. I think some of it is accidental on the creative teams part as they don't want to give away plot points but I feel it i son purpose on DC's part in an attempt to make us all feel we have to get the issues to figure out if there will be a reboot, a reset or just a renumber in our favorite character's books.

You're not going to suck people in that way. You'll keep your existing fans, but you won't make any new ones. Here is how you suck people in. Offer a digital subscription plan for $X a month. Now, let's say I'm a noob reader, but I dig Green Lantern 'cuz I just saw the movie. So I pick up an issue of GL #1. I'm reading it and GL mentions something that happened previously. There's a box in the corner telling me that this is a reference to JLA #273 or whatever. I click that an I'm immediately reading JLA #273. I've never read JLA before and would probably never pick it up on my own, but now I'm reading it and I'm really digging it. I really like this Flash character. What? He has his own book? And all I have to do is click on his bio at the end of the comic and I'm taken to the most current Flash comic that's out there? And if I want his backstory, there's a link to that comic as well? Now I'm sucked in.

yeah but not all titles are staying the same. GL will basically be the same. thats about it. Wonder Woman is getting completely redone and her old continuity just destroyed. Teen Titans is getting completely redone. Wildstorm is now in the same world with the regular characters. Aquaman brings changes to the already made changes to him and his cast. Hawkman is once again having his continuity destroyed and is starting fresh again. Deathstroke is getting a new series because he's not a part of the Titans world anymore, which is also why Arsenal and Starfire are joining Red Hood's squad.
and Batman's world is getting major changes. i dont know where you guys heard that Batman's books would remain unchanged by the reboot and would continue from August, but thats incorrect. in August, Barbara Gordon is Oracle due to her cippling from the Joker. in September, she was never crippled and never Oracle and is still Batgirl. that alters Batman stories from the past 20 years. bringing back Barbara as Batgirl is a huge change and makes Batman a large part of the reboot. it also takes away yet another vile act that the Joker performed. what's next they bring back Sarah Essen? its a joke what DC has done to Batman over the last 5 years. and they continue to mess with the characters and continue to screw his continuity even further.

Personally I loved, loved, loved, loved, loved, loved, loved, loved Babs as Oracle. Loved it. Showed that just because someone is handicapped doesn't mean that they still can't be a hero and not only that, but be an extremely valuable hero at that. Re-writing that for no reason makes no sense. If you're doing a reboot, that might make sense.

It is amazing how many mixed signals DC is letting get out about what is going on.
The biggest thing that makes no since about Barbra becoming Batgirl again is that the DCnU is supposed to be about diversity and modernization and yet they are removing the most well known handicapped character in comics. Add to that Black Lightning has yet to show up and you have a confusing concept of adding diversity. We know Cyborg is being added to the JLA because Johns is a huge fan and Barbra is going back to being Batgirl because Simone wanted it. In giving them what they want they kind of go back on the theme of the reboot.
