Does anyone else have difficulty spending money on pre order figures? Meaning , spending money now on something you may not have in your hands for 4-6 weeks?
For the longest time i couldn't justify to myself spending money on something that would take so long to get to me. Lately however, with the really big gaps in distribution times for Mattel, and the mass quantities of back orders on RSC i find myself saying, "spending this money now gets me these figs in a month as opposed to two months +. So i personally have had a change of heart in regards to the subject.
How do you guys feel about it ?

If only then didn't charge when you order, but when they receive them it would be better!

No. I'm 25. I've learned patience by now.

If it was Jakks, I would definitely not pre-order anything from them and I would suggest others do the same, no matter what. But I would have no problem pre-ordering anything from Mattel.

That's not the problem. The problem is what if not long after you get your stuff you walk into a store there is everything you pre-ordered for retail price? Then you feel dumb.

I don't think it is a problem, just wish they would charge when stuff gets in stock.

I pre-order most of my stuff. I figure I will spend just much on gas looking for the figures when they hit retail. It's just much easier.
Only downfall is you might end up with a messed up figure.
I didn't order the Nexus 2-packs... and now I can't find them. I am not good at being patient sometimes.

I personally like paying when I preorder it rather than waiting until it comes in to pay. This way if it's already paid for up front I don't need to worry about making sure I have the funds a few months later when it arrives. Hell, before our checking account was hacked for $1300 a couple years back I used to preorder way more often than I do now. And anytime I would order from other online shops that didn't charge you until it shipped I always marked it off as paid in our ledger and just counted that money as gone from our account as soon as I ordered it.

Glad I preordered elite 8, seeing as they are banned from NJ retail stores for some reason

I keep going back and forth on it. At first I didn't pre order and I had a heck of a time finding figs so I decided to pre order basic 10 Ryder and Barrett. About that time I started seeing quite a few basic 9 and Elite 7 so I figured I wouldn't pre order anymore. Well, guess what, now I have yet to see basic 10, anything after Legends 2 in store and only saw Elite 8 once. So now I am thinking pre order again. It's frustrating.

I wouldn't mind pre-ordering a set and not looking at the protos or MOC images. It'd be cool seeing the figures for the first time when you get them at your door.

A few years ago it would bother me because I hated paying upfront and waiting. Now though, I consider it one less headache in life. Preordering the figures is great because my stores have been dry and if its something I want badly, I'll preorder it and know I don't need to hunt anything down. Plus with work and life these days, I don't have the same time I did in college

Where I live, distribution SUCKS so at least with RSC I am up to date. So even though RSC is a little higher priced they let me be as up to date as I can.

I pre-order pretty much everything I know will go fast, example.. Zack Ryder basic 10, Zack Ryder elite 9, Wade Barrett basic 10, Del Rio basic 12, etc.
i like to pre-order the stuff because it saves me the time and effort and heartache that comes with going hunting and coming up empty handed, I have pre-ordered every series this year so far except WM Heritage Melina and that was a pain in the ass to find which further helps me justify spending the extra few bucks on RSC

Pre ordering is the only way. Anything less would be uncivilized.
