Am I the only one who actually will enjoy these line ups? I mean, don't get me wrong, I want Legends as much as anyone else, but I am very glad they're still making them, even if it is two per series in each Elite set.

To put it simply, better to have some legends than none at all.

You guys are all getting worked up over rumors I doubt that Mattel would make Miz and Orton in series 9, and then put them both in Elite 11.

Those are basic series though, not elites.

I'd happily pay $30 to get The Rockers, Brainbusters, Strikeforce, Hart Foundation, Rogueau Brothers, Killer Bees, Islanders, etc. on a monthly basis. Natural Disasters, Power and Glory, Powers of Pain. I Love Tag Teams Tag teams are my favorite too. gotta add the British Bulldogs, Harlem Heat, Nasty Boys and Red LOD in there

Maybe since elites have been coming in cases of 8, have 6 regular elites in the case and 2 legends.

Even though I don't want to believe it, it sounds pretty accurate to me. I'm not surprised at all to be honest. Someone asked how Jakks did 27 lines of legends and Mattel could only get to 7. That's because Jakks was smart about it and wasn't charging $15.99 a pop. Jakks mixed the guys like HBK, Taker, Triple H, Warrior and what not with guys who maybe didn't sell as well like a One Man Gang or Rick Martel. Jakks also had much better distribution.
Honestly if this is true then my respect for Mattel has gone down the toilet. I'll still purchase the figures I like here and there but Mattel really failed with the Legends line. I expected it though with the $15.99 price tag.

I have a hard time believing that with all the rumors of how badly the Legends line has been selling that Mattel would put out a Papa Shango figure now ahead of so many other guys that would sell WAY better.

Dont get me wrong. I Like legends figures, and Mattel makes the Best ones EVER!!
But I am not a completist on legends. I just get who wrestled in the eras i really know and love, and I really only want them in those eras classic outfits.
But I collect all Elites. and i dont want Legends figures taking up spots in the Elite series. Because I want as Many Current stars in elite form as possible. and your not going to be able to make some of the lesser superstars if you have 2 legends in a series. Your going to have to have 4 key Current Superstars and then the legends will take up spots that should belong to first time Elites like masters, Baretta, Hawkins, or Reks
I dont mind those Rumored Elite line ups at all. Except for the legends.
Again, dont get me wrong. Papa Shango and debut Kane are 2 legends i would get. But i dont want them taking up Current day Superstars spaces in the Elite sets.
6 Elites (of current Superstars ONLY) per series. 4 Legends per legends series.
But those 4 legends need to be good choices, in memorable outfits, that are noticable and nostalgic to those who have seen the legends in action back in the day or on classic DVDs and PPVs.
I loved legends 5.
Savage Model Akeem Bam Bam
All excellent memorable stars, in great attires.
Mattels real only failure with the legends are character or outfit choice. Each figure looks amazing. But come on.
Series one Slaughters outfit should have been like his Hasbro Toy. Series 3 Bulldog Should have been in his early 90's attire, like his hasbro toy. Sheik should not have been in series 2 Series 1 2 Pack line up was a joke.
So keep Elites and Basics, and DM as is.
and as far as Legends, just do 4 per set. or make them matty exclusives. or make them exclusive to ONE retail store like Toys R us.
But dont clutter the Elites with legends. I Huge Hells to the No's on that one.

Current WWE can't be sidelined, it's hard enough for Mattel to stay current. If WWE could show and make old wrestlers relevant to viewers today it would help the toy line. If they get their own channel they might get to show more old WWF footage and people might start watching.

I think the Fix to Legends would have just been as simple as Selling guys Like HBK , Bret Hart and Undertaker in Memorable Costumes with other wrestlers sprinkled in. I Can See them Putting Shango in the First Elite line, Personally i think it would sell well. But Regardless how can you say mattel wouldnt put a non A lister in there when the whole line has had many C and D stars and so Many A list stars have been put on hold
This Rumoured list sounds as real as anything ive heard, If its not then someone seriously did their homework, its consistent with signings we've heard of , q + a answers and other rumours. and its consistent with mattels format.
It would be so Much better if they put ddp and magnum ta away for a later series and made legends 7 - Andre, Bret, Shango and Debut Kane
The Only Thing i Can think of to Say this List May be Wrong is that MDT said There Would be a Current Elite Rock.... I dont know if they are holding out till Wrestlemania or if it should be In the Line Sooner (i dont watch current so i dont know if the rocks even still around)

That would suck only 4 new elites. If this happens I have a feeling its going down the same road as jakks tna, and we all know how $H!TTY that is...

Meh, works for me, I figured they be doing Legends in the Elite line, although I wish they'd split it 3 current and 3 Legends.I Wish they were 5 and 1 or 6 elites and 0 legends

wow...
Maybe they will release Elites more often? Not keen on a Orton and Miz so soon...
Like someone else said where are the Rockers? If true must be sold on Matty collector...
Im happy with L7 apart from Austin And the 2 in Elite I bet are going to be amazing.
But still I thought Legends were starting to get popular.... How long will it take to get Legends like Million Dollar Man, Natural Disasters, Nasty Boys, APA etc....
Hope that if its true we get extras online (Matty)

I will laugh when: 1) Entirely different lineups are announced/shown at SDCC or 2) When I am proven wrong, get quoted and get I-told-ya-so'ed.

In my opinion, incorporating Legends figures into the Elite series is NOT a good strategic move. Online prices will continue to rise due to limited availability. The amount of figures released per year will decrease. Forget about finding them at retail. Packaging will most likely change.
As for the line-ups. Magnum TA? Come on, as a collector I do not want to see a Magnum TA figure. Do we really need another Austin? We just received a Kane (which I did not purchase because it was in Elite packaging). Is it necessary to produce the exclusive and a debut? Where are the Rockers? Arn Anderson? Yokozuna? Macho King? Bret Hart? Get your priorities straight (if these rumored line-ups are true)!
SDCC is in two months and I am really becoming impatient with Mattel. To be honest, the heck with SDCC and either denounce or credit this rumor. You are not making a splash at SDCC if you are incorporating the Legends line into the Elite line. You do not NEED to wait to denounce or credit this rumor. Lets be realistic, this type of news has minimal impact on investor perception. Where are you now Bill's? Have some you know what!
