Boy oh boy, Todd sure does sound like a cranky, stubborn old man in that video. It's sad how he just sort of rolled his eyes and crossed his arms all annoyed when the interviewer tried to reason with him. His toy lines are just pretty confusing. It looks like the Destiny figures will have extensive articulation, yet he won't fully budge on these Walking Dead ones. Just looking at all the Negan protos, it looks like they simply shrink/blow up one base figure. It makes sense for him to be a statue in the 10 inch form, but why do the same for his 7 inch variation while leaving articulation only for the tiny 5 inch figure? Is it a matter of cost? I also never understood the decision to make the initial figures in their scale. They're in a scale almost exclusively all to themselves. As someone who likes to mod figures, I've yet to find any toy line that's fully compatible with these things. It's not a matter of cost. It's what's aesthetically pleasing to Todd. I think he's a great artist and I'll always maintain that his statues are awesome, but he's gotta accept that action figures need the ability to have ACTION. It's proven that people who buy action figures are willing to sacrifice some of the aesthetics for articulation. I also share your pain in trying to customize the 5 inch figures. I once tried to convert the 5 inch figures onto GI Joe based and the heads alone were too gigantic.

It's the complete opposite for me - I'll sacrifice any articulation for aesthetics. There's no need for that 7" Negan to have any articulation because it's meant to be in a specific pose, on a stand. There's no reason to spoil that amazing sculpt with all manner of unsightly joints and cuts. People will get their precious articulation with the 5" version. Personally, I'd be ok with basic arm movement, but the less articulation, the better I like it. I'm an adult collector, not a kid and the notion of a grown man actively playing with figures absolutely boggles my mind - it seems weird to me. At the end of the day, I just want figures of characters I like - if that turns out to be a statue-type figurine, with no articulation, then so be it. To this day, my favourite line of wrestling figures is still JAKKS' Unmatched Fury statues - but I can only imagine how much better they would've been if McFarlane had produced them. If I had my way, I'd give the WWE licence to McFarlane tomorrow, if it meant we got realistic depictions of wrestlers in the vein of that Negan, instead of the cartoony-looking style of figures, Mattel produce. I wouldn' give a flying if they moved or not. I'd like to get shrunken-down versions of those ultra-expensive, premium, 'Taker, Austin, HHH and Macho Man statues McFarlane made. I'd love for Todd to do a deal to make UFC figures. The thing is, until recently with the Halo figs and the 5" WD figs, Todd has never really made "action" figures so-to-speak. His bread and butter has always been statue-type figures, like the Spawn series, the sportpicks and the movie maniacs - all of which have little to no articulation. Personally, I'm glad he's going back to that way of thinking with these colour tops.

I definitely think the "statue" style has an appeal, but Todd still chooses to have the Color Tops in this strange limbo for articulation that comes off pretty ugly at times. The figures don't even always function as wonderfully as his snarky comments suggest in the video. Due to his limited articulation choices, my Michonne, Daryl, Abraham, Connor, and Maddison figures can't even stand flat. Their feet kind of hover on one end, or bow out. It leads to these things awkwardly leaning, or looking silly at certain angles. So while I can seriously appreciate the statue format for these iconic poses, he should at least make sure the limited articulation allows for these to display and look as good as he suggests they should.

The bodies and jerseys look good and all, but then you get to the face and it's like, no. I think McFarlane was good for their time in the early 2000s, but their product hasn't aged well. They just haven't adapted to the times. NECA outdoes them in every way honestly. And that was not always the case. They played catchup for a while, but now they've surpassed them imo.

Personally, I'm glad he's going back to that way of thinking with these colour tops. For me, the main problem is we don't really have the option. The 5 inch figures barely come out. The days of regularly released 5 inch articulated figures in waves are gone, in favor of 7 inch figures that are more or less statues. If McFarlane only has the budget to do one line and wants to do statues, they should modify the contract to allow another company to make articulated figures. I just think it's in a weird area of almost false advertising. You can see the figures in the box at the store and if you do your research you know they aren't articulated. But there's a certain expectation when something is marketed as an action figure. So if someone if ordering online and sees it's an action figure without looking at the specs, they are likely expecting certain movements.

Found the Walgreens Constable Rick today in southern NH. Was a bit on the fence with it, but ended up grabbing one. Looks pretty cool once I put on the "bloody" face head.
Anyone having any luck finding Aaron yet?

And here's an official image of the upcoming Dwight 7-inch Color Tops. Based on Season 7 Dwight (post-burn). Will come with Daryl's crossbow too. Release date: September 2017 Dwight details page on McFarlane.com

I'm digging the Dwight. Just hate that we have to wait so long.
On another note, is Jesus officially canceled? I haven't heard an update on that for a while now.

Jesus was on the McFarlane website for a while last fall but has been removed since January or so. He still has a listing on Amazon with taking pre-orders but the release date just keeps getting pushed back further and further. And people have started to write reviews on that listing page too, but those people seem confused.

I never saw an official announcement that Jesus was cancelled. Certainly doesn't mean one was not posted, I just didn't see one. All I noticed was that his figure page was on the official website one day and gone another.

Has anyone compared the Constable Michonne from Series 9 to the Constable Rick from Series 10? I'm still pretty new to this figure line, but is it normal that these two appear to be so off scale wise? Appear to be off by a good 1/2 inch to an inch even...

There's plenty wrong with the pair. Even the odd decision to give Michonne's shirt a dirty dark wash, while Rick is clean as can be. Her pistol doesn't even fit well into either hand. The scale is indeed off too. She's noticeably shorter than another Michonne I have displayed near her.
Brewing some coffee right now. Come 9am, I'm gonna make the rounds to as many Walgreens as possible to see if I can find Aaron. Knowing my luck, I'll only finally find Rick which I bought online awhile ago.

Finally some luck. I found a single Aaron at the very first Walgreens I stopped at. I stopped at one more store to see if I could find an extra for parts, and shockingly found yet another single Aaron behind Rick. I wanted the extra Rick to display with the alternate head. For the first time in forever I went figure hunting, immediately found everything I wanted, and I didn't even have to use my AK. I gotta say, it was a good day.

So has anyone managed to find out what happened with the Color Tops Jesus figure? Seems like such a random cancellation. Especially since it seems to put a bigger gap in between releases. It's not like something got bumped up to replace him.
On the bright side, it seems that these figures are finally selling well enough in my area. Carl was heavily stocked, but flew off the shelves at the local TRU stores even without a sale.

I read in one of the comments about the figure that Jesus was pushed to 2018. This was a few months before Amazon cancelled my order. So I kind of believe it. Maybe they want to do him in a different outfit since it was his original attire? I'm not sure but Jesus and Negan were all wanted still from this line and it's frustrating to have Jesus cancelled or pushed back. Who knows how long this line will even last past Negan. It doesn't seem to be doing well, at all.
