Sorry if this is the wrong board to post this in but thought it might go here.....
As most of you know by now, LeBron James and the Miami Heat were defeated by the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA finals last night. GO MAVS! Anyways, LeBron blamed "God" for the loss. During the post game presser, James said: "The Greater Man upstairs know when it's my time. Right now isn't the time."
Former WWE star JBL posted several Facebook messages last night regarding LeBron's claims. Here is what he said:
"There are reportedly one billion people in this world that are hungry, several wars and people worldwide trying to get over terrible disasters-I don’t believe God cares who won the NBA Finals.
"LeBron James brought his “talents” to South Beach, too bad those “talents” don’t include a heart-or the ability for correct introspection. Now, after the worst final choke in history his answer is that God didn’t want him to win. He tweeted “The greater man upstairs knows when it is my time. Right now isn’t the time.” At least he acknowledged that God is the greater man.
"Does this mean that God is a Maverick fan? Or that God was rooting for Dirk or Jason? Or that God was just rooting against Miami?... Thank God for your health, for your family, for the opportunity-but please don’t thank God anymore for sports victories-I don’t believe he is a sports fan, and I hope he is not because I hope he has bigger issues to work on.
"And, PLEASE whatever you do-don’t blame him for your losses-that is just classless. Now as LeBron stated so emphatically-I’ll go back to my daily life as we commoners tend to do. Which isn’t so bad-and, BTW, I have as many rings as LeBron."

He didn't blame God. He didn't say "It's God's fault we didn't win the NBA Finals."
He is saying that it wasn't in God's plans for them to win right now.
I don't think it's right for him to even bring God into the equation, but people are really reachin' for more reasons to hate Lebron. The guy just almost always uses a poor choice of words. He needs to take lessons from MJ, the biggest a-hole to ever play basketball.... yet no one knows it outside of North Carolina because his "handlers" are so good.

Barkley talks plenty of trash on Jordan in his book. that being said Lebron deserves all the flack he gets. he's classless, the way he left Cleveland was classless, the way he's handled the finals loss is classless, dude just screams "over rated" in my book.

wild for people to get so hung up on this, as it's a very normal thing for sports athletes to thank god as often and bring him into subjects just for public appeal.

They have the same personal problems they had today. I’m going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I want to do with me and my family and be happy with that. They can get a few days or a few months or whatever the case may be on being happy about not only myself, but the Miami Heat not accomplishing their goal. But they have to get back to the real world at some point.” plus usually when you lose you don't go blaming god for holding you down, you do like Wade didn't and give props to the other team for out playing you. . .

I figured JBL would be a Knicks fan, since he's from New York City and all.

LeBron James does NOT know how to lose and be a good sport about it. He lost respect from me when the Magic beat the Cavs in the 2009 conference semis and he just high-tailed it off the court without so much as a goodwill handshake. F*ck him. He is all levels of overrated and his attitude after this loss just further proved me right about him. He's a low class, overrated, self-centered egotistical d*ck.

I clicked on this topic and expected to see JBL put his foot in his mouth, as usual. However, he's right on this one. As much as I like sports, athletes and their "God-as-a-magical-trinket" theology really annoys me.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't blaming god. What I got from it is that he was saying "I know I'll get a championship, when? God knows, other than that I couldn't tell you."
I really think people took this the wrong way just to harass Lebron. I mean, I'm all for harassing Lebron James, but in this case I think people took it out of context.

Mike Ditka is too.
